Why isn't Morde working as intended?

Other juggernauts build 1 offensive item (triforce or black cleaver) into full tank

Morde builds full offense

I feel like that's the nature of Ability power kits, if you don't have to rely on AP items then people act like it's unfair.

Look at tank ekko

tank ekko is a bit of a different case, since he was able to contribute with CC and execution damage even if he didn't build for damage. Morde doesn't function that way, because he doesn't have either: if he wants damage, he's gonna have to get it from building AP items, and he's one of the few champions who lacks any form of CC.

He also can get a ghost dragon and win objectives every time it is up.

Tank ekko was a mobile assassin as tanky as a juggernaut while bringing utility

Morde is a juggernaut by definition he should be a slow moving low utility massive tank(which isn't the case) massive damage character

not only his base stats are bad for no reasons, but he also needs to build full ap to do damage

He started 1 shotting people , riot was like nah fck this and nerfed him back into the ground

the 3rd Q change made him way healthier, he only lost ~~100 damage but the damge went from 3rd Q into all 3 Q while still making the 3rd more important, that way if morde did 2 Q on minions then flased he wouldn't oneshot you because he would lose a lot of damage on minions

Every1 can run away from a assasin that is slow as fck and has no gap closer or slow , oh wait ekko has all 3 strange

He isn't directly tanky but his shield and hextech gunblade allow him to do a strange form of draintanking, especially against sustained-damage teams. He's like Shyvana: his buildpath is a bit of an outlier, but he still plays like a juggernaut.

Ideally he should be able to build Gunblade into full Tank and function just fine.

Sounds like a problem with ratios/base damage to me.

Because, outside of his abilities, he's completely worthless. He doesn't have a very spammy DPS ability, his autos aren't constantly threatening (the biggest counterplay to Morde being "let him start q, walk away and let it time out, then engage"), and combining that with absolutely atrocious base stats (melee, lowest movement speed possible, no mobility, and still has the same level 1 stats as an adc?!), that means he needs to kill you in 1 rotation, or die. That, and his only tank steroid is tied to his damage output, and it has an awful ratio.

If you build full tank as Mordekaiser, you will literally deal no damage. Your full rotation will not kill even their afk twitch. That, and you still die in 5-6 seconds with an absolute full tank build; that shield won't save you either. You can't gain 200 ad by autoattacking someone who stayed in your face, you can't massively shred their resists for your team, you can't do anything at all except try walking with a red buff burning you.

If you build SOME damage, and you fail to kill in one rotation, you're a sitting duck for 3-4 seconds. An immobile, squishy melee duck. More than enough time to destroy you.

If you build ALL damage, your chances of killing them in one rotation are much higher, meaning it doesn't matter if you're useless for 4 seconds afterward.

Yeah i understood it now, if he goes full damage he has a chance of killing someone and have a ghost, if he goes full tank he will do no damage and still die

mord is deceptively tanky because of his shield and imo that's why his base HP is pretty low even at level 18. what's unacceptable is him having less armor than Teemo for most of the game

I feel like an AP juggernaut that doesn't have an interest in mana items item 3027 just won't really work out. he can't do anything off CD because he has wimpy autos, his W sucks if you get split up from your teammate or they kill the minion you're attached to, and he's pretty reliant on having a very large amount of AP to just try and cheese someone with damage for an easy ghost. Vladimir is closest comparison and he's barely in a better state than Mord is as far as design goes. IMO AP juggs should be closer to Swain Chogath compensating for low autoattack DPS with CC

imo they should combine the old Mord Q with the new one. it's one swing per cast (and bring back AoE pls), but have the damage go up if he keeps landing them in a time frame. does a MUCH better job of being the 'ramping up' juggernaut CertainlyT originally intended. maybe even make his Q a skillshot, who knows

Morde may not build like a typical juggernaut, but he still most certainly plays like one. He just becomes tanky by doing damage rather than building tank.

And you can actually do fairly well on Morde building tank. Mordekaiser item 3116 item 3151 item 3020 item 3742 item 3065 item 3053 is a perfectly fine Morde build, for example. Most Morde's just prefer building mostly damage and running over the game before they fall off but Juggernaut builds work just fine as well.
