Why does an Irelia with nothing but a Trinity force and some armor outdamage a 4 item Yi?

Hibeki··2 votes·1,016 views

I don't get it, the amount of damage Yi has is absurd, having two tank shred items and three sources of true damage, Irelia STILL manages to outdamage him in a 1v1 fight.

An Item with less than 40 Ad, and a 40% AS boost and a 200% AD on hit effect once every 3 seconds. That's all it takes for Irelia to outdamage anyone in the game.

Does anyone else not see a problem with that?

Was yi stunned for 2 seconds? Thats usually how irealia kills things. She takes one hit stuns the squishy and kills them before it wears off. You don't need much damage to kill a squishy but to pull it off in 2 seconds with a mostly tank build is a problem. You would either have to lower the stun time or reduce bases to force her to build damage to do damage. However knowing the way Irealia works she goes from garbage tier to top tier with the smallest of changes so its probably why riot is hesistant to touch her sometimes.

You don't see a problem with such a low stat item allowing a tank to instant kill squishies in under 2 seconds?

Not really.

Yi can also build armor.

Basically yi shouldnt of lost to that irelia...ever... Not to mention he should of built armor pen.

If Master Yi is stunned he's doing zero damage. Irelia will then be doing more damage than Master Yi until the stun wears off. That's why she does (situationally) more damage than him and no I dont see a problem with that.

Yi had Devouror, Boots, Blade of the ruined king, Hexdrinker, and Serrated blade.

Irelia had Trinitor, Brawlers plate, and Fist (Not the fully build part, just the health and AD part)

Worth noting, Yi had smite and red buff for extra extra true damage.

So, Yi had no relevant defensive stats against Irelia, while she had Armor and Health (to counter the true damage)? No wonder Irelia won that fight handily...

Also, gold values:

  • Irelia has at least 7833 gold, not counting the probable completed boots. With boots, it is closer to 9k.
  • Yi has 9.5k, so he's not terribly ahead either.

Yi between levels 13 and 18 had between 1606 and 2163 HP and between 66 and 84 Armor, assuming standard runes and masteries. That is a MAJOR squishy.

Level 13 Irelia has 98 base AD, and with standard runes and masteries and the given build, 147 total AD. Her Q does 196 damage, her Triforce Proc 196 damage, Fervor of Battle scales up to 81 (10.14/stack) damage, meaning her autos deal 228 damage each, plus 75 true damage. She has 1.3 AS. Her ulti does 149 damage per blade, up to 596 in total. Deadman's does 100 damage on the first attack.

After your 66 Armor:

  • Auto does 89 damage, +6-49 for Fervor of Battle
  • Q and Sheen proc do 118
  • DMP does 60
  • Ult does 90/360

She jumps Yi with W active and Q: 460 damage, 1146 remaining, 3 Fevor Stacks. She fires first ult: 90 damage, 1056 remaining. 2 autos during the next 1.5 seconds: 376 damage, 680 remaining, 7 Fervor Stacks. Time elapsed: 1.5 seconds. She fires second ult: 90 damage, 590 remaining, 8 Fervor Stacks. Next auto, Sheen proc: 331 damage, 259 remaining. Time elapsed: 2.3 seconds. Next auto: 213 damage, 46 remaining. Time elapsed: 3 seconds. At this point, her next action, of any kind, will kill Yi.

TL;DR: Squishy Yi is squishy and gets blown up. Nothing to see here.

How fed was the Yi, how fed was the Irelia?

Because the way Irelia and AD are bound is so great, you can 1-shot everyone with a item 1036

I see a problem with it, but riot doesn't for some reason,

Irelia can do all of that and she can still remain extremely tanky.

Shenanigans karthus can out dps her. (Thats for real though do the math)

Yi has greater DPS while Irelia has greater burst damage and a hard CC.

Yi just needs to build Randuin's Omen to survive the burst damage and he'll kill her after the stun ends.

If the Yi built no defensive stats at four items against Irelia and tried to duel her, then they picked a stupid fight and deserved to die for it.

she doesn't she just deals less damage faster and heals while doing so

less != not enough more != enough
