Autofill loses games in champ select.

I don't get this shit. Just played yet another game lost in champ select. Dude that only plays jungle gets autofilled top and was 0/6 by 15 mins from a darius main. So, we have a 6/0 darius roaming around at 15 mins in an almost 4v5 game. This isn't just one game, there are so many games like this. Maining support this season and when you get anyone that doesn't play adc autofilled bot vs. a main on that role, the game is already lost in champ select. But what can I do ? Dodge 15 times a day ? I'm in diamond 2 right now btw and this is just annoying as shit.

Did he ask to swap lanes? Explain his case? If he did and no ones wanted to swap did he actually play safe ?

From what I saw he died three times within 8 minutes. The enemy jungler was a Nunu so he didn't have that much issue staying alive under turret. He put himself at risk. Bad play from him. The loose is on his way to play. If he can't lane safely he shouldn't ranked.

The thing is, if you're put into a role you're absolutely not familiar with in a Dia2 environment where you might play with and against anything ranging from D5 to Challenger you're gonna get rekt. 0/6 this early is tough, but against a main who knows his role and exploits most mistakes you do this isn't fun. In G1 I can play any role and do more or less well, even though autofill fucked me and my team over quite a few times already, but if I had to play mid I might still destroy my lane or I might go legendary as an adc, but from high Dia on this becomes a lot harder, especially if you're at the lower end of elo in your matchup since the differences between every single division are significant already.

If you're absolutely not familiar with a role in Dia2 then you should pause the climbing to learn a few more champs that can fill that top role. Top is my weakest role I know it. But at least I know how to play Fiora, Illaoi, Gnar and Shen (but I don't like him that much since his rework) and to an extent Gangplank, Sion, Maokai. So I should be able to do something (or even survive) the early game.

2 seasons ago you had to be efficient on at least 3 champions on a lane to think about climbing ranked. Now you have a lot more chance to get your role but you should know how to play at least 1-2 (underplayed or something you're really like to play but not because it's OP) champion(s). Just in case. I won't ask you to be as efficient as any OTP X or Main [Lane] but know how to handle a few champions nothing more.

I do understand your point about people are more skilled at higher level. But it's common sense to play safe. Loose some farm who cares? Just hold the turret get the xp to not fall behind. If he does deny you ping your jungler for help. Buy One or Two item 1006 (it's Darius after all) a item 1029 and pray so you mate can win their lanes.

If you're not diamond you shouldn't even be commenting, because really you have no idea what people in diamond "should be doing"

It's not the same game.

I don't need to be diamond to know that you should know how to play a few champions on every lanes. That was common sense 2 seasons ago and know like I said earlier even if you have more chance to get what you want you should know other lanes too. I won't ask perfection but minimal knowledge.

Oh and btw it is the same game. Mechanics can be higher than some lower elos. But that's it.

I won't ask perfection but minimal knowledge.

The 0/6 toplane probably had minimal knowledge of top.

Minimal knowledge doesn't cut it in diamond.

Muzét1 votes

Minimal knowledge to LANING. Like the author said that the man was a Jungle Or Nothing. He should at least know how to lane the minimal. If he went 0/6 he didn't have laning knowledge. So he might be a Diamond Jungle (or higher who cares?) but a lower elo on lane. He shouldn't be diamond imo.

Then he deserved to lose.

He would have deserved to lose in season 1, season 2, season 3, season 4, season 5, season 6, and the rules for season 7 were also spelled out so he deserves to lose now.

My last promo (today): adc autofilled 0/10, support autofilled who picked Katarina, managed to take only AP and all kills and farm.

Guess what, I lost my promo!

Delete Role selection.

If you can't play 3 or 4 positions decently well you suck at this game.

this is why I learned ALL the positions to be at least DECENT at each role.

Yah see, I did the same thing just the problem is that 99% of players are not decent at all roles so essentially Riot is trolling us by forcing players into roles on our team that can't play those roles and feed.

Dracocrash1 votes

do that at dia 2 level and see how it goes.

I primarily play mid and top tho, as I focused more on them.

Dracocrash1 votes

yes, but playing all roles at a silver level, and being able to play all roles at diamond level are completely different milestones to achieve.

Good for you though.

Role selection makes people think they should get a rating based on their BEST roles, instead of all of their roles. Then they get autofilled and dont know the role.

I don't get it autofill is basically getting last on the old client what's the difference?

In my humble opinion people shouldn't play LoL if they're uncomfortable autofilling. You play a game with hundreds of champions and you only chose 1 champion to play in the entire game? I would immediately report that guy in a blink of an eye.

Sorry if said champ is the only champ that is fun to someone.

Now here me out i know this is a hard concept for people to get around riot but here's an idea how about instead of making new ways to force people to play roles they find unfun (AKA SUPPORT i dont care if you main it and find it fun sometimes over half the fucking community hates the dam role and would rather take any other role over it) why dont you....... I dont know ACTUALLY TRY TO MAKE THE ROLE FUN AND JUST FIX THE FUCKING PROBLEM IN GENERAL? The answer to the problem is working on fixing the problem instead of creating more problems?.... holy shit dude that's amazing.

TheLastShadow452 votes

try to as politely as possible ask if people are willing to switch around. I have had plenty of games around when they put Autofill in normals where we all switched what we got because someone else wanted it just was autofilled into something else. It can be a real hassle somethings when you get those people are not willing to switch and just yell at you for even asking.

If you haven't dodged yet that day, I would say it's worth it at that point. toxic people in champion select lose more games than anything else.

reiko572 votes

ill just take it, if someone says they cant do it. the only problem is that they always end up feeding anyway. gg riot matchmaking.

Had a Autofilled support and we still won. ;)

Champion selection or autofill does not determine games honestly.

Vectros1 votes

it's why I can't take ranked seriously, among other things. Unless you're truly good enough to be pro, ranked just feels silly.

Lexyy1 votes

A person shouldn't be diamond 2 if he can't play all the roles at the similar rank to begin with.

Being good at the game means being good at every role, and diamonds should be good at the game. Being good at one or two roles just means being good at that role, not at the game.

no to toxic1 votes

Well there are people wich got masters with Aatrox and only Aatrox so all you need to do is be autistic patient enough to play 1 champ and nothing else.

I know, I don't think highly of them.

Please read my post, I did not say they should be able to play at the EXACT SAME LEVEL. But they should be able to play everything on at least plat level and good enough not to feed/make stupid mistakes and be able to help the team.

Other team has autofill too, so they probably arent on their main role either (at least not all 5 of them)- which makes it equal.

SkZ DoPe1 votes

as one of my mains is Vayne its funny to see when someone picks Caitlyn just to counter it on the paper but gets buttraped because he is 1st time Cait or some shit. If you don't main the role it's nearly impossible to win the lane even if you counter the enemy.

Weasel Kensei1 votes

Youre correct.

Trying to support an autofilled ADC is the worst. They would be better off buying the sight stone and letting you farm. What will end up happening is they will over commit to nearly every opening. They dont understand skirmish/trade in bot lane. They see someone hurt, then go all in and dont understand how much grief that enemy support can give them and how they can actually die if they dont turn back. They dont understand why you didnt go in with them and believe it would have been an easy double if you did...

Of course I also see SOOooo... many (going to create the official autofill abv. now) atfl sups against me a sup main. My last match I was 2nd pick and got Bard, the opposing support go to pick 8th, and picked Taric into me... I dont recommend playing any tank support into Bard, not even Leona or Braum. They got Taric, and also bought a golden coin... Now Im not dissing the golden coin, its actually my sup item of choice on certain more tanky supports, and some squishy that both need HP and mana sustain. I feel as though Taric doesnt need that much mana. I fee its manageable on him, and that relic shield is a much better option overall. An opinion. Well they were destroyed.

Autofill cripples bot lane placements. Its the most complicated lane in the meta. I see tops come down to support, and pick their top main and not build a support item for gold income. They just play/build as if theyre top lane without taking cs.... they also clearly dont understand the dynamic of a duo lane, and are roughly 100% useless in mid game... for your team, theyre an incredibly useful bag of gold for the enemy team to pad their stats/wallets on.

Jungle mains are often worse than tops when autofilled to bot lane. Im not saying theyre bad players, but they see less laning time than other players so they tend to be slightly weaker on laning mechanics like freezing, or last hitting. Sadly they are always profoundly surprised that that support they normally stomp on in a gank is giving them such a rough time in lane.

Mid laners if they get support are often much like top, they will just build as if they were mid lane... I see this a lot. They get thrown off pretty hard because their powerspikes from itemization dont come because of the lowered gold income. They also often misinterpret their positioning and durability in a duo lane environment. Its rare for them to build a sightstone and they get the shit ganked out of their lane because A: our team doesnt want two carries to emerge from bot lane, and B: its easier to get at a lane that doesnt invest in vision.

This is all on top of the fact that bot lane is the 4 man gangbang run a train on it lane target prime. If you have people who are even slightly getting behind, that lane is over and 2/5 of your team is about to be shit on and you will be able to smell the dumpster-fire for the rest of the match as 40% of your team enters mid game behind or useless.

Having autofilled people stink up their lane and feed sucks anywhere, the increased problem with it botlane is that it tends to affect the adjacent player a lot. That one autofilled trash player bot lane doesnt just feed one enemy laner that becomes a monster, they usually feed two.

Autofill sucks, it has lowered the quality of many of my matches and thereby the quality of the game for me. Maybe like dynamic que they will drop this shit next season for something better like "gain +2 LP on wins in matches where you were autofilled." This will ensure that some portion of the playerbase has autofill enabled, and people who can field multiple roles and win deserve to climb as they are obviously more skilled than those who cant.

It doesn't matter, and here's why: half the time it will be the other team who has the goofball 1-trick player. So as long as YOU'RE never "that guy," your overall results will reflect your own contribution. That's how numbers work.

It seems to me about a 1/3 ratio: 1/3 of the time someone on your team will throw hard and there's nothing you can do. 1/3 of the time someone on the other team will throw and you get an easy win. 1/3 of the time both teams will be reasonably balanced, and you and your fantastic play have a chance to change your destiny and pick up some hard-earned LP that someone else might not have been able to pick up.

If you are good, you should therefore get a 70% win rate. If you are fantastic, so good you can consistently make up for one or two dummies on your team, then you will be 90% and will be making your "bronze to challenger" video and getting paid. :)

Lol, from what I'm gathering here on the boards is that D5 and up is even more toxic than the elo hell I'm in (Silver). At least in my league everyone is bad (come on, why else would we be here), but if the 1-trick ponys in D5 and above don't get their preferred role, it's like playing with a Bronze for the rest of the team, am I correct?

I got autofilled to adc this morning. I used to main adc when it was a solo lane thing. Got 11 KDA by being carried by my support, fun times.

nothing to do with autofill just got a trash player :)

Euthenaasia1 votes

Agreed. Even if you can play 2 or 3 roles it simply makes no sense when you are autofilled a role that simply isn't your strong point. A strength in itself is knowing where you shine and being placed in a ranked match as a role you don't excel in for the sake of saving 2 minutes on a queue timer is just poor. If the queue timer even runs that long with the size of the playerbase today. Riot needs to cut the nonsense already.

vOmvbrawfU1 votes

We had the same fuking problem before autofill dude. Last pick would never want to support and would do the same trollo shit they do now. People wouldn't get their main role and feed. It's a people problem. People only learning 1 champion and then feeding their asses off when they don't get it. Autofill literally has nothing to do with it....except that it has made it occur FAR LESS.
