Remember when riot nerfed Lucian's range but gave him a lot of mobility?

DropFill··104 votes·5,679 views

Also, only thing lucian had as a fucking ton of physical damage. Why does kalista not only has higher range, but deals a considerable amount of magic damage with W passive, has infinite scaling damage, low mana costs and INFINITE mobility. If two sec CD lucian E was annoying, can you imagine what your playerbase think about kalista passive?

Lucian wasn't designed by CertainlyT, that's why. His champs get special treatment.

Rito's logic

Lucian too mobile: Nerf

But wait, let release an adc with infinite dash and say her weakness is be unable to cancel AA

Dengeden9 votes

No, that's your logic. There are multiple factors that make a champion (too) strong. They're there even if you ignore them, sorry.

I can't count how many times I've seen people cancel autos and miss a ton of damage

Quinn can't move during her Autos either. Even if the bullet is half-way to the enemy nexus chasing as recalled target, it disappears the moment she moves.

Because lucian is an AD caster. Unlike lucian, kalista has to land many auto attacks to DO most of her damage.

Lucian is a AD caster? Actually, only his Q has a AD ratio. The rest is only there to give him benefits from his passive, that increases his AA dps, which means he is not that much of a AD caster

You know what he's trying to say. Lucian is a burst damage carry. He's not necessarily a caster. Graves is also a burst damage carry, but he's also a caster.

Same thing goes for Twitch and Miss Fortune. Both sustained damage AD carries with on hit effects on their AAs, but MF is more of a caster than Twitch is.

AD casters do most of their damage via abilities. Graves is also an AD caster.

Just a fact: Lucian used to be played as an AD caster before the nerfs from 4.19. Players were trying to max cooldown reduction on him (with Ionian Boots, Youmuu's, masteries and runes) and focus on his passive and his AD ratios, instead of playing him with attack speed like most ADCs.

This build is still viable but it is not nearly as strong as before, that's why most people play him like a normal ADC. Statikk Shiv has a lot of synergy with his passive, too.

so hard to land AAs with her range + passive, I mean really landing that right click is a continual challenge right?

Kalista shreds whole teams + her slow is toxic. At least you can catch Lucian.

Dengeden5 votes

You could not catch the old Lucian. His dash was pretty much never on cooldown and it removed slows. His range was also way better than Kali's.

Kalista's passive is a lot more restrictive... and she has weaknesses that Lucian never had.

doublelift fg5 votes

i'm sorry did you said weaknesses? when i heard kalista and weaknesses i almot get a cancer

kalista's only weakness is targeted cc, which isn't a weakness

doubleguac3 votes

I hate Kalista as much as the next guy, but let's not pretend that lucian has/had NO advantages over her.

Lucian has lots of upfront burst. When he was hyper mobile, he could pop in and out, dropping one spell and maybe a passive auto and deal lots of damage with that combo.

Kalista has very little upfront burst. She has to commit to a trade a bit more, and actually drop a decent number of autos on a target if she wants to do any real damage to them.

Like I said though, I hate playing against Kalista way more than I ever hated playing against lucian.

If she's with a ranged support, it's also a lot easier to just kill the support. And then she has NO damage without stacking up a bunch of spears.

Kalista's W passive needs to go. It gives her so much stupid trading potential. If that's too harsh, maybe move it to her R, so at least you can outtrade her from lvls 1 to 5.

I feel like you're exaggarating a little bit. Sure, Kalista can be annoying as all hell to fight, but she's not the most OP thing out there. Also, the way you describe things make them sound a lot better than they actually are.

  1. Considerable amount of damage with W Passive. Yes, it IS a considerable amount, that's true. But it can only happen once every 6 seconds, not to mention it needs the support to be hitting the same target. She can't do it alone.

  2. Infinite scaling damage. First of all; that's actually false. It DOES stop. Second; saying "Infinite Scaling Damage" implies someting like Veigar or Nasus' Q. Rend does a LOT of damage, that's true, but she still has to stack it up a while for that to actually happen, and if no one is protecting her, it shouldn't be TOO difficult to kill her before her stacks get out of hand.

  3. "INFINITE mobility" I don't think you quite grasp how much the word "Infinite" actually implies. Here's the thing; Kalista can't jump INFINITELY. Not unless there's enemies nearby. Her jumps are also pretty short range. She ain't exactly LeBlanc. It's good for manouvering the battlefield, not a huge amount else.

Not saying Riot didn't mess up a bit with Kalista, but hey, they've at least TRIED to fix her. Her hops are far from as good as they used to be. Honestly though, I think Kalista would be WAY worse if they didn't focus on teamwork with her support as the biggest part of her kit. Imagine if she could do all this shit completely on her own.

If she has no enemies to AA, she has no reason at all to dash. Also, her Q makes her dash

Castanean5 votes

10 health left, being chased by Caitlyn up river, near the dragon pit. Enemy jungler is trying to pincer her, so she can't reach the opening. She's gonna want to cross that wall. If she Qs, Cait can simply follow her and E. If she tries to use a basic attack; SURPRISE! Cait kills her(Really though, any ADC with 550 range can do that.) It's a situational example, sure, but it's there nonetheless.

Point is; Kalista's jump is only for positioning while in battle, and can't be used for much else. You can dodge skillshots with it, sure, but so can any other ADC by simply walking out of the way. There ARE some disadvantages to Kalista's jumps too. It's easy for beginner Kalista players to accidentally jump out of range, and even when you get a bit better at her that can happen sometimes. It's not precise, so there's a thing you can abuse against her. Another thing you can do is force her to constantly jump, that's actually going to lower her DPS that alone. While she's jumping, her attack speed is "capped" sort of. She has to stop and stand still to get her full DPS if her attack speed goes above what her jumps allow. And considering how people build her, that's gonna be about 90% of the time.

I love how you make a post that greatly exaggerates everything. For Kalista to have infinite anything she has to be against some one with no gap closers and infinite health.

I mean come on she can't dash anywhere like Lucian can she has to attack something first; usually you. Lucians mobility was way better.

"You nerfed his damage and his mobility; now he's not that strong anymore."

"Ok, well nerf him again."

"He still has the range nerfs you gave him, to compensate for the E buff that you got rid of. Could we have either the mobility or the range, and not both? At least there'll be a trade-off."

"No." Kalista has been revealed

you mean like a couple of weeks ago? shes still a strong pick in solo que.

LICENSED HOOKER1 votes

can you break down why shes strong, i played her a few times i just cant win. I feel that shes weak compared to almost all other adcs like unless it takes skill to use her?

Marinaras Trench8 votes

Her Ulti and Her W are insane in team fights. You know how item 3800 is stupid strong? Well sivir's ultimate is like a better version of it for free. Her W and Q give you so much AOE damage and make it so while your busting down the tanks you can still do damage to the squishy back line and make it easier to clean up once the tanks are dead with your ulti. She does require a bit of team coordination to make it work but paired with the right champions (Low mobility high damage carries that your ults let them get in to the fight Annie Braum Evelynn Kennen Olaf etc.) she can be stupid strong.

LICENSED HOOKER3 votes

ohhh, so she excels at teamfights?

Morsigil7 votes

She has a very safe laning phase due to her spell shield and great wave clear. Once you learn her Q she has good poke, too. So playing alongside a competent support means you'll have plenty of breathing room to farm. Don't be afraid to go aggressive though, because her ult and spell shield open up opportunities to catch your opponent off guard.

The things to master with her are the AA - W - AA burst and using her ult to create picks for yourself and your team.

LICENSED HOOKER3 votes

i tried playing her because i suck complete dirt at adc, i main sup and jungle so i get placed in adc rarely ive lost even sivir game so far.

Lucian was a tank killer? Kalista is a tank killer with health damage and infinite scaling damage. Also, she can easily kite tanks

Sp33d Zer04 votes

Double shot procs things like BotRK which shreds tanks. Kalista can kite tanks sure, but she has a very VERY slow time killing them with her core items being (in a lot of cases I have seen, but not quite all) Hurricane BotRK Bloodthirster. That combo does not shred tanks as quickly as A lucian with just Blade of the Ruined king and lots of crit with armor pen.

Anidan5 votes

Just having a botrk doesn't make you a tank killer.

Zair Umbras2 votes

No, but being able to proc it multiple times incredibly quickly can make you into a tank killer. Not many champions can non-stop attack twice. In fact, the only ones who can make a BotRK into a tank killer without tank killing in their kit is WW, Shyv, and Yi. Yi has gotten much worse though with the new Sated. Good Bye healthbar in only 3 AA's that happen in a flat second. lol.

I do need to see how Lucian's passive interacts with the new devourer. If it's the same as Yi's, that'd be E+AA+Q+AA=6 on-hits in only 2 AA's. Could be somethin' scary, but I don't think it will be.
