Can we make Yasuo windwall only block abilities that the wall is FACING?

Tired of him going to the front of his wall, while I am behind it, and I am still unable to hit him

This would cause spaghetti code.

Prospector Pete70 votes

They did it with Braum.

ReshiKillim9 votes

The difference is, they're coded a lot differently. The thing that would be spaghetti code, would be that at certain angles things would get through when they aren't supposed to or not get through when they are. At odd angles, odd things would happen that weren't supposed to happen. Braum's shield procs on all damage coming from that direction, including some AoE abilities if they spawn under his shield.

Kinda like Bard's Magical Misdirection journey bug.

Okay, spaghetti code refers to poorly planned/organized code. There's always a way to properly organize your code to make it as clear as possible, with as little roundabout, half-baked logic as possible. Something isn't automatically spaghetti just because it's difficult to implement.

ReshiKillim4 votes

As far as I know, it refers to overly complex and tangled code (Unless the definition changed somewhere along the line). And in Yasuo's case, it would be. Instead of the rather simple code (In comparison to Braum's) they currently have for it, the coding would either have to be done over or be spaghetti code.

So far, Yasuo's wind wall is on the simpler side of things. Making things not get eaten by the rear side wouldn't be too hard, but they'd get hairy when going through the front. They'd have to re-code the entire ability, otherwise it'd be spaghetti coded into insanity with things occasionally passing through the front and occasionally not getting through from behind either.

They'd have to add a whole lot more coding to his windwall to make it not block projectiles from the back. But it wouldn't stop the front side from eating it. So they'd still get eaten anyways if Riot allowed it to pass through the back. And what about wide abilities that hit from the side?

Current windwall works like this: All Projectiles that collide with this object are removed.

Braum's unbreakable blocks one entirely and then the rest all hit him and are then destroyed. Braum's shield can also block most area targeted AoE abilities as long as they mainly hit the shield. It also reduces all damage (To Braum) that passes through his shield as well (Lux Ult, etc)

To change Yasuo's windwall like this would require them to recode the ability entirely.

But Braum can actually move his shield with him, where Yasuo has to make plays around his stationary one.

Vs a ranged champ Yas can just sit inside his wall and there's litterally no way they can hit him until the wall wears off no matter what they do.

That's not making plays, that's just bullshit.

Then don't play "V" (whatever champ that is) just play a meelee champ

Don't play 50% of the roster, great solution.

I'm sure the 5 melee team will see great success.

Is baiting the wall out not a thing?

Ralanr4 votes

Well Mordekaiser is considered an ADC now.

Xenile7 votes

Not a lot of Yasuo's max their W until last. Which would leave it at a 26 second cool down. Most champions that go mid have SOME way of baiting it out, assuming you don't want him to use it when you all in or something. 26 second time frames is plenty of time to poke or hit him. They also don't build too much cdr. People complain about his windwall when it isn't even the most broken thing on him.

People complain about it because it feels bullshit and immensely frustrating and has some ridicules abuse cases, like standing in the wall completely denying an ADC their damage. The actual strength of the ability really doesn't matter.

Xenile3 votes

Is that a problem? A stun denies a a carry all their damage, and renders them useless at the same time. Does that mean a Leona Q is bullshit? Taric E is bullshit? Yasuo's windwall can be obnoxious, but it honestly isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I find constant dashing, his passive flow shield, and no resource to be much more bullshitty. Everyone knows that Yasuo has that wall by now, so if it ever blocks something important... that's on them. Doesn't stop me from getting frustrated by it either.

SociopathFriend7 votes

I never really get that statement, "Bait it out". Bait out Annie stun Bait out Fizz troll pole Bait out Yasuo wind-wall

I'm sorry- bait out how exactly? You can't pretend to throw out an ability- all they have to do is pay attention and they're fine.

Xenile2 votes

With Yasuo specifically, depending on the champ you decided to pick, will eventually need to prevent heavy harass. Blue buff definitely helps with this. Bombarding him until he needs to wind wall, is normally what I do. Generally goes pretty well. Like I said before, it is normally maxed last and he doesn't build normally build CDR either. This would throw it into a 26 second cool down. If you can't make anything happen in a 26 second window... well? It could possibly be a you problem. Everyone has a pet peeve champ that they hate. What Riven is to me, is Yasuo is to someone else. Don't let bias blind you like me.

TenSlashTen3 votes

only idiots think you can bait out instant cast things lol. the rest of us just realize its a certainly T champ and it will never see any balance outside of "im gutted or "im broken"

Yasuo's wall also has a huge downtime. Play around it.

Not like the code of several things on this game is bad already

Why make yet one more problem that needs a fix?

So you'd just make another because you can't bait or wait out a wall

BUDDHISTINK2 votes

ikr, you know it's there, and usually if he's waiting for you to engage you know if it's on cooldown or not....

Hawkefire2 votes

Please, everything in league is already spaghetti code.

Anivia's E is counted as a crit for f*cks sake.

Azure Dancer3 votes

Well if you look at it it kinda is. It does double damage and usually it double damage means crit

If you're a yasuo lover could you please explain why you don't have any ranked games with him or any recent games played with him?

Because it's not like walls are a two-way thing, right? I mean, that would just be stupid. . .

Lord Boltrix39 votes

...I wasn't aware walls allowed you to walk through them.

swagyeet42013 votes

Last time I checked you could walk through wind and air

AbyssionKnight21 votes

If you use that logic though, it shouldn't block small projectiles moving at supersonic speeds.

The basis of the move is that the wind is blowing in one direction...which is why when you use the move it moves forward slightly. If the wind was blowing both directions it wouldn't move.

So if it's a wall of wind that's moving in a direction, then shooting a shot in the same direction as the winds moving, means the wind wouldn't block the move / aa.

AutoreactiveCD45 votes

If we use logic why does a massive arrow of ice disappear when it hits a little bit of air? If anything the wall would redirect it,

Ratbert8 votes

He's demonstrating how we can't use logic like spizzle did to explain why the wall is two way.

the Anarchit3cht2 votes

Projectiles shot through the back of wall should deal bonus damage if anything because the wind would speed their velocity!

...I wasn't aware walls allowed you to walk through them.

Well-played, but if we are to assume that this wall is made of wind, it makes sense that a strong, focused wind could block, say, a shuriken, but not a person. A person has more mass than a thrown object, generally. I don't know about things like Braum's Q, Vel'Koz's W, and Nami's ultimate, though.

Durzaka9 votes

Pretty simple. It is a magic wall of wind that doesnt block bodies.

The Space Cowboy6 votes

If the gale was strong enough to stop projectiles in one direction it would accelerate them in the other. If the wall is only one directional it should increase damage of projectiles that pasd through it. Not that i want to fight that... But that is the slippery slope of logic here.

Stars Shaper3 votes

That would be correct if the wind was flowing from Yasuo to the enemy. But what if it flows upwards?

Xonra4 votes

I wouldn't mind the hitting front and back if it didn't somehow do things like block skillshots hitting the SIDE of the shield sometimes as well.

Zorsus1 votes

I don't understand, why are people still complaining about Yasuo?

Mordepool1 votes

People don't change their mains when problematic champions appear. Not saying they should change just stating a fact.

JustMyBassCannon2 votes

They also don't change their tactics when facing different opponents, because every fight should be the same, simple faceroll through the lane where the person with the highest numbers wins.

LOL Spammer1 votes

I mean if you think about it logically a wall is a wall from either side.

SlampieceHawke2 votes

And if you think further beyond... people can't just walk through walls.
