Jhin’s crits deal less damage than normal, and his attack speed doesn’t actually scale with attack speed. Instead, Jhin gains attack damage from any attack speed and crit chance he earns through itemization and runes, while crits give him a burst of movement based on his attack speed.

the weirdest part is that theyre advertising him as the slowest marksman yet, and hes loaded with movement speed boosts.

After overcoming the desire to smash my head onto a railway spike while reading that paragraph and taking a more studied look, I realized that the purpose of all the arcane rituals going into play there to create the passive is to make an AD Caster Marksman who circumvents the age-old problem of being an amazing duelist while also being a bursty pokey asshole.

Or at least that's the theory.

so hes just a bursty pokey asshole.

you see, they could have avoided that problem in the first place by just not making the new essence reaver and make him scale better with cdr than attack speed.

caster marksmen wouldnt be nearly as much of a problem if they couldnt just cram 30% cdr into a crit/attack speed build and would have to sacrifice strong auto attacks for short cooldowns like everyone else.

I somewhat agree. But on the other hand essence reaver strikes me something as a reaction to what the so-called caster marksman have been forced to become over the course of the game due to itemization not having a sufficient place to support them. A cycle of blurred distinction, perhaps.

then they could have made a couple more ad/cdr items as an option, instead of making one item that makes them almost hit cdr cap without sacrificing auto attack damage compared to a standart marksman build.

they can literally build the same stats now as they always used to, ad/crit/as and basically get that 30% cdr for free in there.

I think most everyone can agree that they absolutely need to revisit ad caster itemization. We've got something like...four and a half champion classes hooked into that in odd ways, though. Need to put some work into untangling a few of those threads.
