A fix to Ryze's ultimate

So as we know, and as Riot is finally admitting while making changes that don't actually address it, Ryze is incredibly bad for around 99% of players. And this isn't a matter of player skill. Ryze isn't mechanically difficult, so the trend in his performance can't be explained by a "high skillcap." If you really want to nerf Ryze for professional play, he needs to be the only one capable of traveling with his ultimate.

Barring another rework to change the ability, that's what I propose is the best option. The fact his allies and minions can travel with him is a huge aspect of what makes him overpowered with a drilled, coordinated team when he isn't good for the vast majority of players, so removing it would fix that issue while allowing room to have some of his nerfs reverted.

I know that means it'd basically just be a weak TF ult with no vision, but if that's the price we have to pay for pros to stop abusing him and undo all the nerfs to his basic abilities, I think it's worth it.

Seeing Riot made sure to include "No, we go together" in Ryze's comics, it would seem Riot is dead-set on having team TP be a defining part of Ryze's ulti.

Suffice to say, Ryze's ulti will never be a solo ability, even if that's what it takes to finally fix him balance-wise. And it would also come with an identity crisis for him right after, because he would be literally the same as Twisted Fate if his ulti were to be for solo. So that's no good either.

I think the best way is to just remove the damn thing, seeing it was just tagged on into his kit without any proper thought to begin with. But that's not happening any time soon, if ever as per the first paragraph, and we have to somehow make do with it being permanently a team TP.

I therefore propose, that it to be an ability where its range shrinks and expands depending on how many people Ryze tries to take with him in ulti, the more people the smaller the range and vice versa. If 1 man with just Ryze himself, the range could be pretty big, maybe not as big as TF and Panth but idk; and if Ryze takes all 5 people, then it's about the range of its current level 6 version. Ryze is then fitted with a way in which he could adjust who he can teleport with him: A way to arrange his "mark" via a similar loadout as Kindred's champion marking system but instead on his allies, which Ryze can choose who to have the privilege to access his ulti when it's cast; Ryze can change it at any given time at no CD, including when the ulti is being channeled.

But what do I know?

Contrasting that, in his recent video he's traveling alone and the portal is extremely small. Following the comic does NOT take priority over balancing the champion.

We should not be content with the champion being terrible for the sake of remaining consistent with the comic. And the suggestion to just remove it goes against that sentiment anyway. Not only that, but I also said, "barring another rework," specifically referring to changing the ability entirely.
