Feel like Ivern should ALWAYS be ranged, and just get bonus damage from bushes.

IT seems really odd playing him melee. His kit doesn't really fit the handicap of having to be melee (Theres no reason too, he'd be perfectly balanced if he was ranged)

Or they could lower the cooldowns, considering theres a champion called annie with a q that looks similar to his, only can STUN instead of ROOT, and does SO MUCH MORE DAMAGE, while ALSO having a cooldown LESS THAN HALF of Ivern's Q.

Edit: forgot to add, hers ALWAYS hits. His is a SKILLSHOT

It's hard to quantify the value of the dash Ivern's Q offers, especially since it varies based on how much his teammates can benefit from an extra gapcloser. Annie's Q doesn't properly compare when you factor that in.

It has a shorter range, doesn't give her teammates a dash to the target, doesn't always have CC, and has a shorter CC duration. They're totally different skills, on different champions, meant for different purposes. This is a ridiculous comparison.

It felt tacked on to make him have to use his w outside of taking objectives.

yeah thats how it feels to play melees in general.

I think the way he is right now gives good counterplay against him and rewards you for playing him well.

An advantage to having him be melee as a baseline is that it lets him combo Q + E much more easily, since he'd get to dash closer to his target and thereby make it harder for them to escape the explosion. Ivern also generally doesn't want to autoattack at all if he's not in a bush, so when he's in melee mode it's not that big of a downside. In terms of appreciation, it also means that, if he was in combat range before entering a bush, he's practically guaranteed to still be in combat range even if he sidesteps a little to get into brush, so he doesn't need to mind his range as severely as a marksman who'd be trying to do the same thing. Stat-wise, having Ivern be melee means he gets to have MR growth, which is good for when he (usually) decides to build tanky.
