Overwatch and League of Legends are not even similar games. Stop comparing them.

The only comparison you can make is that theres Heros in both games, and they're both team oriented. THATS IT.

You cannot compare the two, as they offer completely different experiences to one an other. So please stop comparing the two, they have almost nothing in common.

They both offer different experiences, that can co-exist.

You're right they are different! Overrwatch is actually fun to play with friends

Up voting this so hard.

Why people compare them: They are both GAMES. And something most of us do in our free time. Most of us only got a few hours per day of free time (1-3). Since work, university, dates, shopping, washing, cooking etc takes time.

Which means, people will compare games. And decide which one is better to invest time on. League requires a lot of time, and it changes from patch to patch. Overwatch will most likely be in a similar space.

PS: they also use heroes with 3 abilities, an ultimate and a passive........ so that doesn't help keeping them apart

Its only natural to compare the 2 best internet games on the market right now. I rather like the discussion and rivalry. I am a fan of both games and I think both can be improved by each other.

Edit: I'm saying both are great games! But dont try supress free speech on this day... people can discuss anything they want.

Overwatch: 6 Man, shooter. LoL: 5 Man MOBA.

Overwatch: A few button use. LoL: A few button use.

Overwatch: Dynamic Queue Ranked. LoL: Dynamic Queue Ranked.

Overwatch: Skill Rating based on W/L, Performance on Objectives, ranked from 1-100. LoL: Rating based on W/L, Bronze 5 to Master Tier (?).

Overwatch Season Rewards: Spray , golden guns (need a certain # of wins). LoL: Skin, border.

Overwatch: Prioritizing Game. Lol: Prioritizing Money - skins.

Overwatch: In game coms optional. LoL: No in game coms (outside client needed).

Overwatch: Premades are made known to both teams at start screen. LoL: Last I knew, premades were not shown unless you had similar club tags or something. Been awhile since I've played.

Both communities filled with cry babies. I think the last point matters the most.

I presume your original post is getting so much love because people are worried LoL will die for Overwatch. I doubt that'll happen, people always hang onto a game they enjoy. I've quit LoL to play Overwatch, but there are plenty who have not. It's really just how you wanna piss time away.

Excuse me sir, in both games teams can win or lose. Your clearly missing the fact they are the same game by this fact

MonkeyMadness7/4/2016, 6:18:22 AM5 votes

List of similarities:

Heroes/champions Abilities and Ultimates different characters serve different roles (ie tanks, assassins, healer/support, etc) team-based objectives and a mentality that if you try to go rambo you will lose Premades in ranked

Last one might get changed though, I hear that Blizzard is looking into a better ranked system. We sure as hell know Riot isn't...

Yeah, America and China are different countries. We can still make comparisons - obviously not on everything, but on the similarities. While I've never compared League or Overwatch to eachother, if its a valid point I could support it.

You're right. Overwatch actually rewards teamwork over the individual. And each character actually feels strong and unique in there own ways vs meta picks c0ol lool.

They may be entirely different games, however, they have also become comeptitors in the gaming market which is why people are comparing them.

Darkkor7/4/2016, 2:05:59 AM3 votes

Actually one thing they have in common is dynamic queue. ayyyyyyy

DarkRitual7/4/2016, 12:19:07 PM3 votes

They have vastly different gameplay, but there are still comparisons that can be made. Comparing core concepts and reasons eacvh are successful is fine.

They also aren't completely different, as your post states, even beyond the exemption you mention.

Sure they can both exist, but Overwatch has a chance to become more popular than League. The only question now is if it will remain popular over time.

I don't care if someone likes Overwatch. That's awesome, it's a fun game and I'm happy that you like it.

What I DO care about is people who act like they're God's gift to humanity for leaving League to play Overwatch.

"Oh and I am SO much better than all you League losers. Overwatch is SO superior look at me I'm showing Riot what I think of their crappy game!!"

It tilts me so hard when I see people like this on the forum. Go praise Overwatch if you like it so much. I don't care for it because I don't care for FPS games. League is more fun to me. Like the OP said, the two games can co-exist.

Madra7/4/2016, 9:22:53 PM1 votes

They are targeted towards the same audience though. The comparisons are inevitable.

Punkkee7/5/2016, 2:31:59 AM1 votes

they're both eating up my life so theres that

rtbf2216514127/5/2016, 6:29:16 AM1 votes

There is no MMR in Overwatch? Overwatch isn't objective based? You don't get penalties for leaving too many games? There is no support classes? There is no tanks? There is no damage dealer roles? There is no queue system?

Sure the genres are different, but saying there is no similarities is ignorant.

Sometimes these boards give me cancer.

Only Play Darius7/4/2016, 7:10:46 AM1 votes

But plenty of people are leaving League for Overwatch.

zSkeletoRz7/4/2016, 8:23:25 PM1 votes

I agree 100%, they're very different in a lot of key ways... Blizzard will ban you for using racial slurs and making derogatory statements toward other players... Riot will tell you to use the broken, in game reporting system. I've also not seen any bots in Overwatch yet.
