Why does Caitlyn get to headshot people that step on her traps with Morganas black shield?

I think the point of the headshot is Caitlyn can line up a more powerful shot on those she has hit with her CC. Trapped, and 90 cal net slowed people are "vulnerable" in a way that she can take advantage of and hit them critically (headshot).

So why can she do this to people who step on her traps with a black shield on? They just erase them the same way Sivir does when she walks over them with her E; except that Cait can still headhost people through black shield.

Bug, or is she just "allowed" to headshot people even though they arnt actually trapped because fuck you thats why?

The black shield is not a spell shield. It grants a Magic Dmg Shield and CC Immunity That means the only the root is blocked and the rest of the ability works as normal.

The ability is supposed to grant bonus range and damage to people who are trapped or netted.

From Riot... Every few basic attacks, or against a target she has trapped or netted, Caitlyn will fire a headshot dealing bonus damage that scales with her critical strike chance. On trapped or netted targets, Caitlyn's Headshot attack range is doubled.

I know how black shield works, its clearly Caits headshot that isnt working properly as it states trapped/netted. If you arnt those things, then she shouldnt get to headshot you...right?

What is the logic of her getting to headshot non-trapped people?

(incoming its a game defense probability 95%+)

Keep in mind, the headshot can still be hit even after someone is no longer slowed or trapped, so that is a separate effect.

Her head shot is an auto attack. The black shield blocks the root. It doesn't block the debuff. Just like you can ignite someone who's black shielded.

Im clearly aware of the mechanics, but the intent is obviously wrong.

The passive says "On trapped or netted targets" except people who have a black shield ARENT trapped."

So its obviously meant to be as I said, Cait gets headshots against targets affected by her CC, but this seems like an oversight. It may technically be allowed because the debuff isnt CC, but isnt thematically or literally correct when the passive is considered, and is obviously meant to only be effective on her rooted victims.

Youre looking to closely into it. it means if you step on a trap or get hit by the net, it procs.

You are stepping into the trap anyway, so the trap beeing triggered activates the headshot, not you being rooted.

Think of it this other way: Imagine you have morganas' black shield, and lux fires her binding. It doesn't affect you, but if there's someone behind you, they get the binding, because the spell triggers onto two targets, and you counts as one, so you triggered the effect even though it didn't root you. I don't know if I made myself clear, xD

ok, I'll try it again. Morgana's black shield makes you skip the 1st cc that hits you. If lux q's you with the black shield, it doesn't bind you, but it goes through you, binding the person behind you (because it's supposed to bind two units). In case of having two people behind you, the binding only applies to the 1st person, because even though it doesn't affect you, you still got hit by it, so you count as one of the targets it's supposed to bind.

In the case of cait's traps, the passive activates if the trap triggers. So, you have the black shield, you go onto the trap and you make it trigger, even though the black shield stops it from rooting you, you are still triggering the trap, so the passive from caitlyn activates.

I know how Black Shield works... I obviously know how it interacts with Caits traps and her headshot.

Come back when you have a reason why headshot passive says it works on trapped/netted people, AND why its working on people who arnt trapped.

Let me repeat, I know the series of events, and the technicalities involved.

Headshot says it works ON PEOPLE TRAPPED. If Im not trapped, it shouldnt be working? Thematically its obvious that she headshots people her CC disabled, if her CC isnt disabling people, shouldnt get to headshot them.

Sure. I'm not here to argue thematics. Riot is aware of the interaction and have stated it's working as intended. The answer I gave you was almost word for word what a Rioter said on a boards post regarding the same topic a couple months ago.

I posted the description for her headshot passive, and you people are all saying the "because fuck you thats why" reasoning to Cait getting to headshot people.

All I see is a bunch of bullshit apologist. THE PASSIVE SAYS trapped and netted, and if you arnt one of those things, she headshots you anyway "Hurr sounds legit to me."
