Is anyone else really tired of farming under your turret with Cait's traps ALSO under your turret?

Weasel Kensei··63 votes·3,133 views

Just little snap traps everywhere, on top of a snare support like Lux/Morg, and they get the momentum and push you to your tower... then a little ring of traps around your tower making it hard to rush past them for any opening, or line up skillshots...

Not what I would call overpowered specificly, but with some other ADCs taking a nerfbat beating, all Im seeing is Lucian, Jinx, and Cait, and if somoen picks Lucian, the other ADC is Cait, if someone picks Jinx, the other ADC is Cait, if someone picks Cait, the other ADC is Jinx, cause snares make your tit#&%$ look bigger.

Now Iv felt this way for a while, but those traps being under your tower means she gets to have part of her offensive kit intrude into what is supposed to be your safe zone. I find this unacceptable. Now if you think they are only defensive, then A) you dont understand the snare CC effect very well, and B) they proc her headshot which is clearly offensive and out-ranges tower fire.

Now do I see other ADCs? Yeah, but if I started taking bets on "the ADCs this match will be Cait, Jinx, Lucian" then I would be making more money than losing it. Of those 3, Im seeing a lot of Cait cause shes safe, and has all the offensive right click power of a typical ADC, and a down right toxic safe zone invasion mechanic with the traps making being ahead, staying ahead...

Any thoughts? Who else is tired of those traps being under their tower?

you took 300 dmg head shot to remove 1 trap, just to see it immediately replaced because the cd is nonexistance.

45-10 seconds, dat CD reduction per level doh

usually, though, she's gonna have a 45 cd trap until level 10 anyways. that's right about mid game. she gets her one good ability after her laning phase, and she falls of hard in terms of DPS in late game team fights.

Its not really a problem.

The Deckowner4 votes

it's a charge system.

tooomine1 votes

that doesn't contradict that each trap requires forty five seconds of time to get another one, dude, or that that's gonna be the case up until level 10 in most games anyways.

The Deckowner1 votes

It does contradict, because a player can't afford to destroy another trap for awhile after taking 300 dmg head shot right in the face.

Also the traps last 90 seconds.

Also you need to put a second point in either w or e at lv8.

MunchCrunchLunch2 votes

you mean you die because the caitlyn you're going against knows how to animation cancel and combo 3 headshots in a row.

LadyRenly13 votes

you got Qd and headshotted under tower while she was out of tower range, "outplayed"

doombotMECHA10 votes

just like yas's ult placing him outside tower range

GULAG 4 U1 votes

Well I'm not saying it isn't annoying, but face it: Yasuo takes some time to perform his ult so he'll prolly take one or two tower shots during it. And it doesn't deal very impressive amounts of damage, and his shield doesn't block it. That's why riot programmed it this way.

tooomine2 votes

this is the height of stupidity, dude. a two item yasuo does a fuckton of damage during ultimate.

caitlyn, on the other hand, cannot hit you underturret without entering turret range (that honor is only for twitch) AND her q is a skill shot, where yas nerf doesn't even have to be aimed to be successful.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

But yasuo has to land a skill shot too? And Caitlyn doesn't really have to get under the tower neither

tooomine1 votes

yes, she does.

GULAG 4 U1 votes

No she doesn't with a 1300 range Q. Yasuo needs to get under the tower to harass you, and you can dodge the Q. Quit your nonsense bitching. She doesn't need to.

Limrick1 votes

You do realize the trap doubles her attack range for the headshot, right? She doesn't even have to come close to tower range.

As has been pointed out every time someone starts a thread crying about Cait's traps... if they are under your turret, they are NOT in the river and the lane is shoved. Your jungler should be having a field day with Caitlyn's ass.

RamboDash156 votes

I agree, but it's not always the case that your jungler will see, or act upon, the gank opportunity.

tooomine3 votes

that's a team problem, though, not a balance problem.

Hethalean7 votes

Also stepping on that trap resets her auto attack timer. Don't forget that awesome little nugget.

Horse Grenades1 votes

If they removed that it would be so much better. At least they'd have to choose between farm and poke like EVERY OTHER ADC

tooomine2 votes

dude, she already has to choose between siege, mobility, and waveclear, unlike most other adc's who can do those three things in their kit.

the weaknesses are there, you just have to know what those weaknesses are and take advantage of them. if she gets traps early, she can't clear a wave, and she can't win trades with you. its not rocket science. and if she takes q first, she can't siege you out of lane unless your team drags laning pahse out to 15 or 20 minutes.

Weasel Kensei2 votes

You keep acting like "Oh traps cant win trades, darn," but the reality is that the traps and positioning with her range mean she can position so that you wont be able to get to her for a trade. If you come straight at her... well you cant, traps in the way. If you go around a Cait trap, she will move. Dont forget the support, you try to force a trade on Cait you run the risk of being double snared, stun/snared, or other combinations meaning you are standing still and probably outraged by her... thus losing the trade.

Those traps can put a trade in her favor, and you acting like having them makes her weak af is just you either being noob, or obfuscating the reality of the traps.

tooomine2 votes

there are three places where she can do this: near your tower, the river, near her tower.

The only one that is relevant to the "you can't walk around her traps" argument is the position near her tower.

IN that case, shove the fucking waves under her tower. she has no wavclear, and you can consistently win the lane because you can consistently gain between 1 and 6 creeps a wave.

It should also be noted that if she ever gets aggro with a trap in this situation, she just opened up your avenue to successful trades.

Again. She's got weaknesses. you need to adjust your playstyle to take advantage of them.

Horse Grenades2 votes

I honestly don't even understand what you are saying. Choose between siege, mobility, wave clear.(she has all those things) If she traps you in, you won't trade.

Sure there are weaknesses. That doesn't make her auto-reset healthy.

tooomine1 votes

at lvl 18, cait has siege, mobility, and waveclear.

up to lvl 9, she can have 1 of those things. she either gets her q up to damage, her traps up to siege, or her mobility up with the net.

If she doesn't take q and max it first, she loses any trade potential in lane. play around her weaknesses. either win trades with her, or shove waves under her tower, since she cannot waveclear without her q.

if she builds evenly in her skills, her trade potential is worse than every other adc up until level 15.

There isn't really any counter to the traps being put under your tower. The only thing you can hope for is help from your allies. When I was playing with some friends on a new 30 account I was like 15-0 on caitlyn. Too bad it got banned shortly afterwards. Every game I would place the traps under their tower and have my support grab the minions before they met ours to keep them there. Even if their jungler came I didn't really care, I would be able to escape or just kill all 3 of them.

Snowplosion3 votes

Sivir is the counter to that, but she is too weak right now for many ADs to even consider playing her.

  1. As someone who plays twitch, poking champs under tower is not very effective unless they're under 50% health
  2. His ult on ranked 1 is like 90 seconds so it only used to either follow up with support/jungler engage or pick off low health enemies at an range.
  3. If his passive is on anyone under tower and he re-enters tower range, the turret will automatically target him until the poison. So no he's not good at poking people under tower.

Caitlyn, on the other hand, is neither. she is weaker in lane than every other ADC. And not by a little, either. Her stat steroid is completely inaccesssible for 6/7 of the time, and when it DOES proc, it provides less boost than every other adc's stat steroids in all situations.

If you have a trap max caitlyn in lane, who has pushed up to your tower, you are at fault. trap max early means that she has no Q damage to poke you with in trades, and N o Q damage for waveclear (her only source of waveclear, I might add).

the problem isn't cait's traps in lane (if you ever experience cait's traps in lane). the problem is you have poor mechanics and game knowledge if you have a negative experience from cait's traps in game (and yes, I'm slating "got ganked, ff 20" as poor game knowledge.

Her ONE strength when compared to every other ADC is her mid game siege.

her late game teamfight potential is garbage compared to every other adc in the game.

Cait's not toxic, nor oppressive. she just has a unique identity that you're villifying here given how well defined it is compared to every other adc.

Cait's Play style is a siege and zoning type. Yes i get that. But her new play style requires little to no interaction with her opponent. Lets look at Lucian. Lucian by design is a AD caster who is played as a lane bully, He has to interact with his lane opponent to get his damage off.

New cait barely have to interact with her lane opponent to deal damage to them, what makes her so oppressive his her traps because

  1. They are almost immediately after they're set
  2. When she maxes out her W she can set up 5-6 traps in an area completely blocking it off a choke area with someone getting chunked or kill. Especially if her team syngergizes with her Irelia /Maokai /Lux /Morgana
  3. Upon setting off her trap it Automatically procs her passive which gives her super long range and increases her head shot damage, and gives they can also take full damage from her Q

Let's revert certain azir nerfs then so he can still poke infinitely under tower. Oh you don't wantthat? Too bad he is a lane bully

Dengeden3 votes

Almost like ... Cait has a bad mid game. Like Azir in his current state.

GayFluffyUnicorn3 votes

Cait? Bad midgame? Lol. Like cait is a traditional adc. This season she has easier access to MORE AS, crit than ever before.
Her midgame is pretty okay. She just has more power in her passive. Meaning hitting E or W is crucial to deal good dmg. But her mid game is far from being bad.

Dengeden2 votes

Yeah there's no point in arguing with you if you dispute this long known and established fact. At best, Cait clears waves mid lane while the rest of the teams are getting stuff done somewhere else. And at worst, she gets hit by some long range engage and drops like a fly.
