Something very interesting that I've noticed...

Whenever there is a discussion about ADCs and someone (thankfully) brings out some math, I see an interesting set of choices made.

This doesn't happen every time, but it happens often enough to annoy me.

Someone will compare a full build vayne with items like item 3087 item 3006 item 3031 item 3094 item 3072 item 3036 , calculate all the damage amplifiers that she gets in her kit from her Q, W, and R, and then finally compare that against a 200 armor generic tank.

Can you see an issue with this? Because I do.

Most champions aren't just wooden planks with items slapped on. They have their own abilities with their own damage reduction.

For example, Shen can block AA damage within a zone. Alistar this guy's ultimate is pretty crazy for tanking. Garen built in damage reduction+resists. Poppy built in resists

Also a lot of vital item passives are forgotten about, like tabis and randuins.

Finally, people usually botch the math a little bit by forgetting that base armor doesn't apply to armor pen.

Forgetting about these important parts of the damage equation can lead to positively ridiculous numbers like 900, 1000, or even 1400 damage per auto when those kinds of damages just do not happen.

Now these mistakes in calculation don't magically make ADCs okay, but fixing these mistakes will help stop the propagation of bad information on the boards.

As someone who mained chogath and tried to calculate my exact burst at various levels to maximize when I could get an ult stack, I can tell you that exact numbers do not matter nearly as much as you think they would. There are simply too many factors to account for and ball parking burst or damage does just as well. It can't even think of a situation where knowing the exact break point even mattered to me ingame.

I made a spreadsheet for level 3 kled all in recently since I started playing him mid. Then I realized that every game, it just came down to 500-520 at level 3 after armor and 550-580 after armor at level 4 before ignite on just about every matchup that I really cared about. Hell I even had a pretty big ommition which didn't come up until I extrapolated to level 9 and realized i was off by like 20-30% and it didn't matter much ingame. Save yourself the time, you don't need to be exact.

You do not need to be completely exact, but leave out an entire champion's kit and the impactful passives of multiple items greatly skews the numbers that you get/makes things seem far worse than they actually are.

I realize that, my spread sheets were off by like 20-30% at times and that was without even looking at all shielding/armor factors in every champion's kits. Still didn't matter all that much since ingame situations are never exact.

What I found most important was to know the burst against a generic champion with middle of the road hp/armor and then fudging the numbers based on exact matchups.
