So deep terror nami was removed from the arbiter program...

for saying this

The moderators and Riot have very little vested interest in the state of the boards, so reducing that kind of behavior is unlikely to happen in the near future.

There was more to the quote but this was clearly the offending statement. The issue is, THIS IS TRUE. DTN was the only one who seemed to ever moderate. I have spent a lot of time on the boards, i rarely see "the curator" and i don't even know the names of other mods.

Congrats RIOT's mod program. You removed the only mod people cared about. I would curse you out right now but that is far too "unprofessional". DTN was more of a help to players then the curator and others have, and ever will be.

EDIT:DTN was not a mod, but an arbiter. Sorry for the confusion.

To be honest Deep terror Nami wasn't very professional at all. I have seen him trolling popular threads before, i remember there was 1 were he got like 55 down votes.

Its always nice to hear the whole story and not just 1 side.

The guy got bagged for telling the truth.

The boards isn't a place to talk about balance. It is literally a place to vent frustration. Riot isn't a single entity, making it impossible to give player feedback, only present in patch notes. That's why red generally show up to goof instead of pointing relevant things. Silence is gold for riot. See soloq radio silence for months =].

I just want to point out, DTN was not a mod. He was an Arbiter.

That just means he was a volunteer for Riot to help explain things to other players. He had no actual control over anything, jus someone Riot identified as a knowledgable member of the community that you could ask questions to

"Moderation is pretty lax when they aren't directly breaking the universal rules. Just being annoying isn't one of those rules, so trolls (or just persistent upset and misguided players) can carry on for years and nothing will be done about it. The moderators and Riot have very little vested interest in the state of the boards, so reducing that kind of behavior is unlikely to happen in the near future"

I've highlighted the portion of his statement that is most likely the actual cause of his removal from the program, and not, in fact, the portion listed above. Nami was removed because of passive-aggression towards players on the boards, and implying that the player in question was annoying, and possibly a troll, is no condoned because arbiters are intended to be neutral parties that quote the rules, not pass judgement on players. His statements about moderator enforcement had nothing to do with his removal, so please add all context instead of the bits that you want to use to champion a personal cause.

There was more than one arbiter? Since when?

But i liked DTN they dident sugar coat things and play nice.

aLawfulFalafel7/8/2016, 6:33:56 PM4 votes

well, sometimes i liked DTN and sometimes i didn't, we all have different opinions on things but i think DTN generally had a good way with words to get his or her opinion across.

what really upsets me is this is the only person i really get any sort of reply from, my only sense of connection with response to riot and it's cut. we like having a voice and if there is no acknowledgement then we may as well be talking to the walls, or floor(board)s which feels bad man.

Someone speaks the truth and Riot removes them for it What's new?

Riot and the boards are a blazing dumpster fire.

This surprises me literally zero percent that they fired one of the good ones.

Wait, we had an Arbiter program?

Since when?

I haven't even seen a mod in forever...

There's a lot to unpack because this wasn't a single step out of line. According to players and others (I don't look too deeply) DTN was passive-aggressive and made other players upset, angry or otherwise. So there's that.

Along with that, true or not, would someone working with a company throw them under the bus like that? If I'm working at Blizzard and say "Yeah Blizzard has no idea what they're doing with the game right now. Basically a poorly balanced time", true or not they won't want me around. Why would you EVER want someone representing the company defacing it? It's why things like whistleblower exist although I'm comparing extremes.

Is what DTN true? I'd say so. I've been in the boards since 2013 or so and I've actively tried to get them to update or edit things. (We're STILL in the beta, look at the top. Jfc) But you can't expect to say that stuff when you're one of the players representing Riot and the boards community, as sucky as it might be.

The entire point to the reddit clone-job was to make the boards more self moderating via the vote up/down and thus need less oversight. Basically the old boards needed to be rebuilt and they said "Reddit is awesome ... lets do that" and hoped this would make moderation easier.

So enjoy logging into boards and seeing the top 20 memes instead of any actual conversation
