Vel'Koz has only received a single stat change since release

Other than the recent mana changes, which basically every mid laner that uses mana got, Vel'Koz has had only one buff and some QoL/bug fixes.

W - Void Rift MISSILE WIDTH: 65 ⇒ 88 R - Life Form Disintegration Ray RANGE: 1500 ⇒ 1550

And you know the best part about these changes? They were only done to match the visuals, so they more or less bug fixes.

Shout out to Velkoz, for being the only truly balanced champion to ever have been released. It's a shame he didn't share this knowledge with Riot, seeing how every champion after him (except Bard, who was awful on release) was extremely over tuned.

Is it bad that my instinctive reaction (as a Vel'Koz main) to all these Vel'Koz boards posts is:

Stop talking about my flying eye monster! You'll draw Riot's attention D:

Actually, they did buff Vel'Koz about 3 months ago to have slightly more range on his Q on the part that splits. They made it so it was even with the initial range. They also reduced the time it takes to reactivate it too, by about 0.1 second, haha. :)

Actually there's one more you forgot v5.16 Plasma Fission Reactivation delay reduced to 0.25 from 0.3. Range of secondary bolts increased to 1100 from 900.

That one was a buff.

illoai is fairly balanced doh.... BOOM DOWNVOTED. but yeah that's honestly what I think about her. poppy needs a few tweaks but not much. and yeah ill admit ekko was a little OP on release, GP too.

for 2 years now, riven has gotten nothing but nerfs and pbe spooks.

To date, none have survived preliminary testing.

And yet people still pick Yasuos, Zeds and other things. Because "balance is weakness" remember.

If I haven't spent last 3 seasons on bot as support I'd gladly hop on mid and play as space noodle monster. But since my brain can't comprehend midlane mechanics anymore I am forever stuck with supporting.

The ONLY reason people don't complain about Velkoz more is because they hardly ever see him. He's a simple champion with a tiny player base and wins a higher than average number of games.

If Vel'Koz ever got spotlight in the LCS, or got a VU that made him into an anime girl, he would immediately become fotm there would be nerf Vel'koz threads all over these boards. In fact, if he ever does get popular, (say after riot needlessly buffs the base damage on his E by 3 at rank one), expect people to complain about things he had ALWAYS been able to do like they did with Veigar:

"omg spell spam, when am I supposed to be able to approach him??" "He never bought a rabadons and still does so much damage!" "WTF True Damage, he's the Vayne of Mages"

Seriously, I hate how the boards hold up Vel'Koz as the paragon of balance when really, they just hate mobility and appreciate that Vel has none (but not enough to play him).

I absolutely love Vel'Koz. He never feels unfair to play against, he's fun and rewarding to play, COMPLETELY skilshot reliant, has fair damage, is squishy, and last but not least, has no mobility. Vel'Koz has been my favorite champion release since I've started playing League (Late S3). 90% of the champions past him have been faceroll high-burst champions with annoying mobility.

Currently Vel'koz support averages more champion damage per game than a large number of mid laners. Last patch he averaged more damage than Brand.

Trundle went five years without nerfs. Only slight buffs, bug fixes and a rework to fix his visuals and animations. So if you really want to look at a balanced champ, go look a Trundle.

Also, your "truly balanced champion" argument is not a great one. Just because a champion isn't touched doesn't mean it's balanced. (In fact it's entirely possible he's subpar at the moment.)

Velkoz was balanced on release. Then people begged for nerfs, and he was nerfed :c
