Imo Ori's problem is that she's way too strong as a generalist mage (rito has supposedly said they don't like generalists that are too strong). Let me explain, She is supposedly a control mage (similar to annivia), w/ her aoe slow/shockwave and using the ball to zone the enemy laner away from CS/enemy team away from objectives. Ok, fair enough.
But wait theres more, on top of her zoning she has a high amount of utility w/ an MS boost and a single target shield that scales very well, Oh and empowered auto's to help w/ dueling/skirmishes b/c why not?
Imo Ori is not too far out of line, just a bit too strong of a generalist which makes her i highly contested pick in high elo where people can make the most of her large toolkit, and nerfing the shield scaling a bit (or reducing its effectiveness when used on allies, to make her a bit more selfish) could be a decent way to bring her more in line with other viable midlane picks.
