Can we update Wukong's Passive?

Wukong Airlines··135 votes·5,895 views

Pretty much an outdated passive that doesn't provide much durability and even with it, Wukong still feels like a paper. Even if you reach lategame and get 8 Armr and MR x 5 enemies you'll get 40 each, and it's funny how with the penetration most of it will be ignore, + the fact that lethality will be buffed based on your level and not the enemy's so it'll even feel worse and none existent.

did you know even the name of the passive (Stone skin) is not that special anymore? item 3193 : Passive - Stone skin: If 3 or more enemy champions are nearby, grants 40 bonus armor and 40 bonus magic resistance.

Wukong requires 5 enemies to be nearby to get that 40 mr and armor meanwhile the items requires 3 enemies only.

Not only that, there's ANOTHER Stone skin + Discipline coming to the game in the next few months in the new runes system that work the same way wukong's passive does, https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Co0V-tYONy0/WVPx0zdcKMI/AAAAAAAAoJg/fT7XkXIyuqQOGdUKkyNATz-gMDFrSFRUACLcBGAs/s1600/3rune.png

To be honest, at this point, I'd rather wukong get an MS steriod in his passive instead.

I think Wukong is in need of a little GU like Rek'Sai. He's a cool character but his kit is very one-dimensional and outdated.

He could be a lot cooler, and updating his passive would be a good place to start. Upvoted.

Wukong has a high potential to become a melee hyper carry, all that he needs is a new passive, R adjustment and more into his W.

i think his E don't fit for current league state... a point and clic... skill expressionless.

So? What are things like Xin E that survived rework? What is Yasuo's E? There's plenty of point and click dashes, they're nuanced by the fact that you can't just use them anywhere or plop a ward over the wall, its restricted by being enemies only. And it has a secondary purpose of being an AS buff. They could tweak the E a little but if he were based more on being a carry his E being a finishing closer/AS buff would be very relevant.

For begin u comparison is so bad. Are u really comparing Wu Burst to theses ??? Then :

  • Xin : will be reworked so don't use him like an argument
  • Yasuo : don't deal enough... This spell is used like mobility spell. Yasuo is skirmisher no a divers. And he'll be reworked too btw.

He won't become a carry. He's a divers, they won't transform his identity for no reason. And his whole kit need to be changed (more or less).

Wukong stacks AD, an AS steroid makes AD more efficient since every auto scales on AD. Even if he's not building AS his builds are either straight AD or Bruiser. Compared to other fighters he fills a carry role similar to Fiora, he's just not building things like Ravenous usually. And there's more examples like Jax, Yi, Pantheon, Poppy, Irelia, ect in the same role and they've got their own balanced version of the enemy only targeted dash. Vi even handles it well in ultimate form. It doesn't matter if they're the same functionally, every similar ability has a different function.

Things like Gragas E, Sej Q, Kha E and Kayn Q will all be used to wallhop, but are you going to tell me I should never compare similar abilities just because they have a different bonus effect? Targeted dashes are balancable, Wukong's problem isn't his E existing. Honestly he'd probably lose power if you changed his E since making it some dash you can aim at the ground means that if it isn't wall restricted he's more mobile than he was ever allowed to be and it'd cut from his power budget. If it is wall restricted, even if its a new weakness he has a tool he can use to escape in lane and things like his HP/Damage would have to be tuned around this new power. He already has W as a flexible offense/defense tool, if you want more mobility there's other parts of his kit.

And I'm not against changing E, I'm saying that "ITS TARGETED" is a bad argument since Riot can balance these kinds of abilities. They remove them from kits that are actually toxic or from kits that are overly dependant on them. Wukong is pretty balanced right now in WR but isn't pickable in a lot of games because he's limited in ways similar to Garen/Darius, he needs to be in your face to be strong. His E accomplishes getting in there to be on their face pretty well, so I doubt thats the issue his kit has.

Xin rework happened like 5 years ago, Yasuo was made like 4 years ago and Riot said they are going to GU Yas lol.

NiceTryVi1 votes

Didn't they just update Xin less than a year ago though...

Junkο2 votes

Nope, his actual rework was in July 2012. They did give some free shit to his W for no reason about a year ago (an AD ratio and low dmg crit), but pretty sure that's called a buff.

Bodkins Odds1 votes

Although they then nerfed his W's AP ratio to compensate even though AP Xin wasn't even a problem.

ChaoticPinecone2 votes

Who actually thinks Wukong should be a melee hypercarry? You have burst, you have a gapcloser, you have an invisibility, then you have a huge gamechanging AoE ult. Other melee hypercarries like Yasuo, Fiora, Yi, or Tryn are 1v1 specialists. Gangplank, while a melee hypercarry, plays more like a poke-mage.

If Wukong got to hypercarry levels of damage, he would be oneshotting teams by himself with his ult. I'm pretty sure that isnt a good idea.

Fate Fool1 votes

How to make Wukong an insanely broken hypercarry.

Step 1 - Buff ult tick rate to .25 from 1 second.

Step 2 - Rush item 3071

Step 3 - Ban him or lose

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

would still be weak due to his laning phase

Shahamut1 votes

Wouldn't matter, dude just quadrupled his ult damage :-P

Sun Wu Ryuumoku1 votes

would be fine if it was so easy... but in league of sust'and shield wu is weak

Eedat15 votes

Honestly I would just be happy if his W stunned minions/jungle camps for a second or two so I didnt get absolutely destroyed during my first clear every game. I'm used to not having a passive at this point

Wukong Airlines5 votes

I'd put the quote to work (every mistake is a lesson) in his passive and allow Wukong to get stronger not sure in what way through making mistakes/dying.

and his Q should be a skillshot and his whole kit should allow the summoner to freely control his staff. Staff plays a major role in his character, so it shouldnt work as a AA rest with extra range only.

Salson15 votes

I like what you're saiyan.

Arakadia4 votes

Wait why are we rewarding the player for playing poorly?

IcyPepper2 votes

Not everything needs to be about snowballing

Spice POWAH5 votes

Yeah but if we reward him for deaths the only way I can think of to control it is by basically inting, I feel like it would have similar issues that Garen's Justice (ult) passive has.

GelsominoKiller2 votes

I think they should focus and work on his trickster nature. More decoys, more effective decoys, more rewards for tricking enemies into attacking decoys etc.

The staff should really feel expandible, right now it doesn't do justice to the mith, I want it to be veeeeery long.

He can lose his passive for all I care, but I'd like his armor shredding to stay.

I guess Riot's acting passive on the issue.

SpecterVonBaren6 votes

Make his Q his passive, have it so that after casting an ability his next auto attack gains increased range, deals bonus damage, and reduces the target's armor. Then give him a new Q.

Yeah because that couldn't possibly be broken.

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

Why yes, depending on the stats and extra effects it could be broken. Could add in a 2 second CD on it so you can't just spam everything like you're Riven. Keep in mind that it would also either have a flat value that's less than the live version or it would go up with his level meaning it would scale not at all or slowly. Could just get rid of the bonus damage and have it be all about the armor reduction and range or maybe get rid of the armor reduction and have his new Q ability have armor reduction on it.

There are many ways to make a skill broken and just as many ways to make it balanced.

SociopathFriend3 votes

It could also be incredibly weak too- pretty much any ability can be broken with the right numbers.

Nymzo5 votes

Riot needs to stop monkeing around with those clone passifs

Blåbæret4 votes

Wukong's passive is truly useless atm.

DarkRitual2 votes

Same boat as Morgana. It's there, and definately helps little bits at a time. But it's very hard to apreciate or notice throughout the majority of a game.

LichKing2342 votes

Morgs passive is alright if your taking her mid and building some form of ap but its like nasus passive early game you dont notice it but its there to help you survive early game cause morg really doesnt have any damage outside her Q and W (pre 6) so unless your hitting 100% of your Qs and using your W to heal off minions then well your fucked early plus hitting a morg Q with ap heals you for dam near a shit ton

DarkRitual1 votes

It definately has room to be greatly improved, both in noticability and player satisfaction.

LichKing2341 votes

i agree but as it stands its an alright passive for surviving now if morg was a stacking champ like nasus and veigar then it would be alot more useful as if he had the stacking of nasus and veigar plus the healing then she would be well broken.

her kit overall is outdated lets behonest it is but its not really for her passive look at Nasus his passive and abilities are centered around his passive and his Q his passive is useful as being hit by a 300-500 stack nasus with 20% lifesteal is annoying and also scary but thats the nature of his kit.

Veigar his passive centers around him getting ap and all his abilities (minus his E) all have high ap ratios if not mistaken some of the highest in the game if not the highest and his passive makes any ap item he gets insanely gold effective

Morgs passive is good but not for her Kit see what im saying her passive should be something like brands or kayles somewhat but her abilites deal corrupted dmg or her passive deal a DOT that makes her opponents deal less dmg with her abilities

when i saw this... it tilted me so hard.

yeah i agree, could make him climb on his cloud.

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/6jvhlb/wukong_rework_concept/

E passive at max rank (or lv6) : i would like add some ms for Wu (mainly if u remove ms of ult) when he's ooc, and he would be on his nimbus.

Wukong Airlines1 votes

I'd change his E into both passive and active. Passive: creates clouds around the rift active: allows you to dash to those clouds or u can still dash to an enemy.

gives you lots of potential to play around the clouds and outplay the enemy rather than be binary like the current wu

big boi edri3 votes

Not a big fan of the RNG there. Maybe if it worked like illaoi's tentacles?

IDK, honestly, my big issue is his mana and lack of sustain. Which would all be fine... except his power spike isn't level 6. It's level 11. That is ridiculously late for a power spike, even if it is a huge one. Especially on a champ that is pretty item dependent.

shadowlord7231 votes

I'm betting that he will be one of the champions included in the Diver class rework so chances are that we'll be able to see his reworked passive then.

Steelflame12 votes

They are dropping class reworks entirely. Any divers that would have fallen under that rework are instead going to be handled seperately, similarly to how Reksai recently got an update.

shadowlord7231 votes

Ahh yes I missed that part of the news. No wonder i got some downvotes lol.

What if they made his passive into something better? The passive doesn't exactly make him tanky. With the fact that armor and magic pen is so high right now, and 40 is already a pretty measly amount.

SanKakU1 votes

I suppose they could give him the Veigar treatment, but these other posters are talking about replacing the passive instead of improving it. I'm guessing I got down-voted by some mains of some of these champs. People are so easily offended.

lil koda4 votes

ur getting downvoted cause that shit was retarded

SanKakU1 votes

Really? So it's completely fine to buy champs with IP and then stop playing them because they got reworked? Thanks for letting me know.

NaturesMayhem2 votes

I was talking about replacing the passive as well. It could be a tanky passive that is simply stronger and more useful. Just because it won't be the same isn't a bad thing. We are here because we want the champion to be more enjoyable. We're not trying to make him worse.
