I thought protobelt was supposed to help immobile mages?

Yet the main champ using this items isEkko. I feel like Immobile champs should have access to something great for being immobile.

The same for mana vs manaless champs.

Actually it makes more sense for it to be for champs that already have some mobility. It hits more bolts if u are close. Ekko can hit all bolts with his E proto combo maximizing items output.

yes, that's what it's currently being used for. OP is talking about how Riot's entire reasoning to add this item at first was to help immobile mages, which is the opposite of it's current use

Did Riot ever say they are doing it to help immobile mages?

I think the idea behind protobelt was to give immobile mages some help against mobile champs. I could be wrong but that was the impression I got when they made the item.

Why would you think an item designed to get in to a fight would be designed to help the average immobile mage? It helps people like Annie, but most immobile mages want to stay on the outskirts of a fight, not have better tools for getting into the thick of it.

Yeah protobelt was a failure. I don't even build it anymore, opting for item 3146 or the item 3092 build. It's clunky to use, rarely do you get every missile off, and it scales like shit compared to the other hextech items. Immobile mages need an ap youmuus, that increases their movement speed with an active but debuffs you from using dashes for the entire duration.

Wouldn't you just dash and then use it? Just saying.
