I absolutely believe the best thing you can do is peel for carries. However...

Carries also need to learn how to position, or in this instance be peeled for. There’s no saving a Caitlyn or Vel’Koz that walk into melee range of Riven. I can’t protect you if you overextend into positions where you can be easily caught out.

Here’s a tip carries: if I, the tank or bruiser that will offer you protection, am avoiding going to certain places then you should probably avoid those places too (I.E, over-extending). Because I am avoiding getting caught out. That’s not to say there are not times when you can split solo, but you need to do it when you’re pressuring rather than when your teams base is being pressured. If you extend at this point, you’re giving away a free kill because they’re already in position to kill you without a cost to their team. If they do this when we pressure their base, it’ll come at the expense of some objective.

My boy Rocco already explained pressure better than I could but pressure and positioning on the map go hand-in-hand (you could even argue they are practically the same thing; I wouldn’t though). So if you want to win, squishy champion players: PLEASE KEEP THESE THINGS IN MIND. I am not making a bad position play just because you are. We don’t necessarily need you to defend, so I won’t sacrifice my life for your stupid plays. But we do need you to win, and I’ll gladly sacrifice my life if you position yourself correctly so that I can actually peel and even die for you. If that isn’t love, then I don’t know what is.
