Hey, Riot; why does Shen's R have such a high cool down?

I've looked at his cool down and it is 200/180/160. I want to know why that is, but Twisted Fate's R's cool down is 150/125/100 and Pantheon's R cool down is 150/135/120.

All Shen's does is transport you to an ally and give the ally the only shield, while TF's shows everyone on enemy team and teleports faster and Pantheon allows you to leap to a destination dealing A LOT of damage.

Even Zilean's R cool down is just 180.

Why can't Shen's R cool down be 160/140/120? At the moment, this cool down is ridiculous being over a 3 minute wait until it's fully leveled.

Rewind a few seasons back and Shen play became very oppressive. The meta at the time allowed him to 1v1 most champs well and split push, forcing the enemy team into a constant 4v5, because when someone went to meet the Shen his team could immediately start a fight elsewhere and Shen would ult in.

Up until somewhat recently he's had a gamebreaking but incredibly rare bug that preventing his ult from actually teleporting him, causing him to be dropped from every roster in ranked play very very fast, so the data on where his power is at relative to everyone else is only just now getting rounded out. I know he'll get some love sometime soon, but it may not be on his ult cooldown.

Destiny's CD is 180/150/120 and not 150/125/100.That's the mana cost

180s is too much. TF needs a buff

sorry for OT

Sorry, you're right. +1 for correct correction.

IIRC there was one patch where Karth, Soraka, Shen et al were dominating because of global ults and cooldowns were universally butchered.

I don't know if they still need to be, but that's what I remember.

I am pretty sure because they get the shield before he tps and also because its shield ratio to ap is 1:1.35 so even if you have the slightest ap in runes and masteries the shield can become like a GA. I agree about the cooldown but I think the cooldown should get higher the more times you level it up. So first time would be 100,125 and than 200, because the shield becomes 850.

We dont know. But it has something to do with River Shen I bet.

It was nerfed due to the strength of Shen splitpush in pro games.

pretty sure shen has been nerfed many times, prob his ult was part of that process.

All the global ults got hit pretty hard when people in the LCS ( and the hundreds of thousands of viewers watching ) figured out how to abuse the Karthus / Nocturne / Shen ults. Pretty much made every lane a 2v1 and had almost no chance of counterplay or comeback if you got ahead.

They decided to add a lot of time to the CD's to tone down his split push and allow time for "people to have a chance to make plays while the ults are down"

Nocturnes Ult also got hit pretty hard for the same reasons

Shen ult is a true global ult as opposed to twisted fate and pantheon ult. It can win a lane at the opposite side of the map by the shield alone. Therefore riot feels it deserves a higher cool-down, similar to Karthus ult. While we're on about Shen can I mention how bad his taunt feels now after they nerfed the width. I was forced to play him in ARAM a few times and that ability feels so inaccurate.
