As someone who tried vlad before the rework and didn't really like him

New vlad seems pretty awesome. The new e is SO MUCH FUN to use. On top of that, i feel really effective once i have some cdr items built.

The ultimate heal is amazing in team fights. Bait master vlad. Drop ult on 3+ people, they dive you while you cast e and q, you pool, then you cast again/hit hourglass and boom full hp.

And since he scales really well with hp now you can get like 4-5k hp and be an actually tankyish fighter mage in the late game.

Yeah his damage and tankiness is pretty crazy for a mage, only surpassed by Swain maybe but they are different, both are monsters in their own way.

While I am a little disappointed that Q healing got nerfed a bit for lane in addition to removing spell vamp I can't help but admit that the new E is a blast to use. I just love the build up, makes it feel so much more powerful that previously when you would just spam it on cd for the constant damage in fights.

I still wish that it would pierce minions at max charge though, clearing waves can just be painful sometimes with the projectile blocking.

Or you can be a potent explosive rapidly healing glass canon.

Or a tank who has some serious WTF damage.

I love the versatility. 50 shades of red

I have a question. With the old Vlad I was used to maxing Q but with this new one, is it wise to max E now ?

Reason I asked is that since the rework, I see people doing a lot of damage with him, even carrying, something I almost never saw before rework, yet when I play him, he still feels just as weak as his pre-rework self. I have been maxing skills in the same order though. I'm wondering if this has something to do with it.

Do not max E. The cost is too high early one (assuming full charge) and damage is too weak if is not fully charged. Still max Q and go for trades in your 3rd Q. E should be maxed second once you have some Hp or HP regen to keep you healthy and not suicide yourself

actually my experience has been that maxing e or q really just depends on the matchup. If you're against a really tanky champ with little damage i tend to just max e for the waveclear and damage, q maxing adds like 10 dmg and 5 healing per rank, the only reason to max it is for the cdr.

That said i max q in tough lane matchups so i can atleast just farm and sustain rather than having to go back after a bad trade.

Do you need more reason than the CDR? Less CD means you can heal more often (even if the scaling is not so good) which allows you to stay in lane more, which is basically what you want as Vlad.... you are not an early game champion. While is true than maxing E will give you more damage and waveclear the cost is too high which will mean that if things go south you will pop like a ballon or you won't be able to do damage at all

I honestly LOVE new Vlad except his ult. I feel it's easily the weakest part of his kit. The damage is poor, the damage amp is poor, and you often don't get the ult heal when you need it. It's too easy to die before it happens or you just kill them and it's useless.

As someone who has been gone for about 4 months and used to be a vlad main, can anyone give me a rundown what of happened and thoughts of before and after?

Didnt feel like making another thread and causing clutter

Q now heals very little but after 2 casts you gain Crimson rush, and Q-ing with Crimson rush does double damage and heal + % missing health. I healed 2k health from a Q once that way. Pool is the same, does less damage and goes slightly faster (not confirmed, just feels that way to me?) E is a channel, basically a 360 ashe volley which may cost between 2.5 and 10% max health. The damage is insane lategame, something like 1000k on full build. Note it scales with AP and HP. R now heals you per target hit.
