Why is Lissandra's ult so overloaded?

Gunpoint··1 votes·890 views

Frozen Tomb RANGE: 550 COST: 100 mana COOLDOWN: 130 / 105 / 80

Active - Enemy Cast: Lissandra freezes target champion solid, dealing magic damage and stunning it for 1.5 seconds. Active - Self Cast: Lissandra encases herself in a glacier for 2.5 seconds, becoming untargetable and invulnerable but unable to take any actions.

Dark ice then spreads from Lissandra's target dealing magic damage to all enemies in the area as it expands. The ice lasts for 3 seconds and slows the affected enemy's Movement Speed.

Magic damage: 150 / 250 / 350 (+ 70% AP) Slow: 30 / 45 / 75%

◾Spell shields will block the targeted effect but not the radiating ice. If blocked, the target will not take damage from the radiating ice instead.

Okay, so I don't understand why a champion with a kit as good as her, needs an ultimate like this. It's like, 3 ultimates in one, point and click massive damage stun, a damaging slow field, and untargetability. Not to mention she's usually tanky as hell anyway with RoA and Zhonyas.

Oh no, people finally started playing her in LCS so here come the complaints. Doesn't matter that her ult hasn't changed since release, NOW its op. No, its not.

I don't actually watch the LCS and have always disliked Lissandra's ultimate. I just didn't post it until now because I don't like being ridiculed by... well you.

Well then i'll respond to you as if you actually know what your talking about.

The reason why Liss' ult is the way that it its is because she was designed to be a high CD lock down mage. Her q has a short CD because her other CD's are long and she'd be useless in team fights if all she had was one rotation. Without her q she'd be reduced to a weak pick mage.

Her damage is fairly low compared to other mid laners, and since she doesn't build DFG (rip) she rarely has the ability to 100 to 0 someone without being ahead or having an advantage going in. Again, her ult damage is low so its paired off with flexible CC.

The reasons it can be used on either herself or her enemies is, because if she only had one or the other she would have very limited play styles. She ults herself during a team fight to get a free hourglass, a slow and a little bit of damage. She ults someone else to lock them down. The prior is nice, but it gives the enemy team a chance to just run away since you did not prevent anyone from actually leaving (not locking them down with hard cc. Slows are soft CC). The latter is good for catching someone out, but until Liss has 3 items (Abyssal, ROA and Hourglass) she'll have no resists and be blown up very fast.

Since her kit is so simple and straight froward they put the diversity into her ult so that there was actually a difference in all her engages. Her q and w have extremely short range and are not flexible skills.

The strength and weakness in her ult is modeled around the strength and weakness in the rest of her kit. You cannot single out her ult without taking into account her kit.

Similar to a Galio who can taunt your entire team, preventing them for casting spells or flashing, have built tons of MR and still do damage...but its okay because his only real engage is a flash ult which is painfully obv.

Forgive any grammatical errors.

Two minute cooldown duration for half a Morgana Q or a Hourglass?

You can dodge Morgana's Q... Which, I guess is what I should have made clear, my main point is that Lissandra's ult does all this, POINT AND CLICK and so the only way to TRULY dodge it is to go untargetable during the 0.4s cast time. Also it's only 2 minute cooldown at rank 1.

Except Fiddlestick's fear deals no damage and Fiddlesticks alone can't follow up on it with a whole lot of abilities besides his weak damage silence and a DoT channel.

Honey. Have you ever seen fiddlesticks do a Fear/Crow/Drain combo?

If you have no escapes you're lucky to get out alive.
