Varus rework concept

EDIT:

  • Damage on E lowered. Stacks lowered.
  • Cooldown reduction mechnic on Q removed

Passive: Blight Varus' auto attacks apply a blight mark to an enemy champion dealing 1 / 2 / 3 % of his maximum health per second for 3 seconds. Using an ability on a champion suffering from blight with automatically proc the full damage at once. Blight can only be applied once every 5 seconds against the same target.

Q: Piercing Arrow Cooldown: 6 / 5 / 4 / 3 / 2 Auto attack reset. You next auto attack gains 600 range and pierces through units.~~ If several champions are hit this ability's cooldown is reduced by 0.5s for any additional champion hit.~~ Additonal damage: 15 / 30 / 45 / 60 / 75 + 0.3 AD

W: Living Vengance Cooldown: 15s Passive: Whenever a unit near Varus dies he gains 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 / 50 % attackspeed for 2 seconds. If that unit is a champion bonus and duration are doubled. Active: Varus' attacks deal an additional 20 / 24 / 28 / 32 / 36% of his missing health as magic damage.

E: Hail of Arrows Stacks: 4 Stack cooldown: 12s Cooldown between casts: 0.1 Shoots an arrow in a straight line (Range 725). It reduces the movementspeed of enemy champions by 20 / 25 / 30 / 35 / 50 and reduces healing effects by 50%. Can be cast while moving. Physical Damage: : 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+0.35 AD) (Holding the button automatically casts all stacks in a row)

R: Changed to physical damage. 0.45 Bonus AD scaling added.

Comment This concept evolves about the basic idea behind Varus (a sniperish ADC who enters a arrow-spamm frenzy). He remains stationary, but gains significant tools for DPS as a compensation. His core mechnics as well as blight remain. He maximizes his DPS by using his abilities between casts like Riot orignally stated they want him to be (a few old LoL players might remember this statement).

I'm not a numbers guy, but that kit seems solid to me. Varus was the first marksman I ever picked up and I'm a bit sad he's such an unpopular pick right now.

I like the switching of W passive and normal passive, but I would like to have the E remain more of an AoE damage from above. I feel it would stick better with the name 'Hail of Arrows' and I personally think it's a cool skill, even if it sometimes lacks utility.

I feel like its a VERY strong kit. Low cooldowns, high dmg, high attk. speed, its a lot, even w/out mobility

Well, it's supposed to be strong :) However it has several parts which you don't have direct control of (namely: W)

It's a little bit of gamble but has a good all in. The bonus on W further promotes killing Varus first in order to avoid his W to activate, drawing aggro at him.

He has no direct point and click steroids and it really comes down to how well the player can time his abilities.

Not that E gets a good burst potential but has a long cooldown per stack.

He's kinda like Twitch who has the chance of unleashing a strong short term DPS in a line. (However with less momentum of surprise and even less mobility)

As a result he should have a strong laning but a difficult time to set himself up in teamfights without heavy CC help from his team.

Hail of Arrows deals too much base damage for how many stacks you can get. Maybe reduce the max stack size to 2, and have the stack CD decrease to 13/11/9/7/5, scaling with rank?

Edit: I don't think Piercing shot should have a CDR mechanism if the CD is already so short.
