I dont think you undesrtand riot, but "assassin" and "support" are the literal opposites

You cant make a champion that is both without running into massive problems.

That would be like making an adc thats also a tank.

Is it because Assassins get kills and you expect Supports to not get kills? 'Cause that's the only potential compatibility problem I can see between Assassins and Supports.

I think he means that "Supports Are kinda meant to be the protector of the Team, And assassins pretty much ONLY go for the kill." Or something like that, But its pretty much a neccesary step to make Supports less for Masochists, And more for everyone. [vlad-salute]

That could be a fair argument, but at the same time, there are conventional Supports who are less interested in protecting and more interested in lockdown - like Rakan, Thresh, Alistar, and Leona (albeit Leona is the least flexible of the bunch, but still)

If it's less of kills being the problem and more of just playstyle differences, then it may help to see Supports in two distinct groups (which Riot actually outlined as Subclasses) - Enchanters and Catchers. The former being focused on protecting their allies, with the latter being focused on creating openings to capitalize on.

Pyke - if we're using Support Subclasses - would naturally be a Catcher. (a very, very aggressive catcher.)

Seems more like an offensive version of Bard, where they roam the map and set up kills when they're not chilling out bot lane. Highly doubt they'll be able to regularly pull off solo kills unless the target is previously weakened.

I think this would be the only real way it could work without risking Pike just going mid/jungle and playing like a normal assassin

Sure hope so. With that level of utility, I'd rather not have a repeat of release Ekko.

He’s probably going to have higher cooldowns on his abilities though which would hurt his clear. Not to mention husband passive only activates from champ damage and not monster or minion. So hes going to have to back so many times with no self sustain.

….

and whats wrong with being the first?

how many supporty junglers did you see before Ivern? how many botlane non-dps (or at least that crappy amount of dps)marksman before Jhin? how many DPS control mages before Azir?

also polar opposites argument doesn't hold much water when Gnar is a tank yet simultaneously a marksman, Teemo is a DPS AP assassin, Graves is a burst marksman, and Zilean is an anti-assassin mage, Chogath is a non-juggernaut tank with an execution ult.

Wait for the release before spitting nonsense

But why? They aren’t opposites? If brand and zyra can be supports but also midlanders and nautilus be support or top then why can’t riot make a support assassin?
