Won 5 placement matches in a row, still being put against silver 4 players....

Last season, I ended with a rank of silver 3 (and MMr of approx silver 4)

I do my placements, literally win 5 of them in a row, yet somehow, by game 6, after five straight victories on PLACEMENT MATCHES, i'm still playing against the same level of silver...

I get it if after 2 wins, I'm still in the same mmr, but 5 in a row means that maybe Riot, you should try putting me against players that ARENT fucking silver 4 for once.

honestly, I'm starting to think placement matches don't mean anything, because this is stupid.

Edit:I'm also salty cause I just lost 3 after those initial 5 in a row... but that's not related.

Why would you be playing against higher then silver players if you were silver last season?

then whats the point of placements if I can't even prove that I belong in a different tier

To place you in where the system thinks you should start on the current season. What, did you think you would get jump like 2 divisions to like plat just because you went 10/0?

placements are supposed to be a chance to FINALLY move up after a season, if they almost do nothing to affect your MMR, whats the point of having them in the the first place???

No they aren't, they have exactly to do with MMR. I believe it is only possible to go up a tier MAYBE 2 if you go 10/0, but you wouldn't suddenly ascend to like Diamond because of it.

If you ended with an mmr of approx silver 4, then that means you probably started placements with a bronze mmr (remember the soft reset generally pulls people down roughly a full tier), and so if you're already playing against silver 4 people then you're doing pretty good for yourself.

o I didnt know they pulled you down a whole tier

It's a rough guideline rather than a hard rule, but point is most people start somewhat lower than they ended due to the soft reset.

Starting where you ended almost never happens, and starting higher than you ended requires very special circumstance (e.g. your end of season mmr was way above your end of season rank).

Its to determine where u start in a season... Their purpose is not to push ur rank, but to find a place to start it.
