If u don't care about winning, don't play ranked

So I recently got demoted to silver 5 and i'm SUPER salty. Although it was mostly my fault, the game that game that got me demoted tilts me so much because....

  1. The game was so winnable
  2. I was doing pretty well in lane
  3. The rest of my team was doing okay

But then things start to go wrong and now THIS HOE ---------> Vi went in 1v5 5+ times and proceeded to say, "yeah, I don't care about winning lmao" before getting caught in the enemy jungle killing their blue while she was BESIDE A PINK WARD.

Just saying, if u don't want to win, don't play ranked pls.

Im so salty lmao time to spam bard adc

all those people who at somepoint in the game give up, troll and stuff like that and say they dont care are just liars. Yea they care. or else they wouldnt get upset and behave like kids. they wont admit it to u maybe not even to themselves but they care a whole lot. they rage and deny cause they cant handle losing, even worse they cant handle that it may be their own fault. This pretending is their coping mechanism. they wanna appear tough and cool, but man come on! seriously just think about it: nobody who doesnt care would be sooooo emotional and throw tantrums about a game like those guys. People who dont care would just play the game, if it doesnt matter if you win or lose you have no reason to intentionally lose. people who cant handle a loss throw the game as an excuse. all just braingymnastics of weak minded people. its the only logical conclusion. at least 99% of the time.

nothing to be done about that tho. and dont worry it is the exact same on all elos. higher ups are just more smug about themselves :P thats just what u gotta put up with if u wanna play this game

If you want to climb, you have to jungle. Even though top is my best position right now, I couldn't carry hard enough from it. As soon as I switched to jungle I had a 90% win rate and climbed quickly.

This isn't about climbing the eelo latter, it's about ppl who go to ranked and "don't even care"

what would be the main two junglers you used to climb lower elos? i've been learning lee, good eve and amumu. but jungler gets me angry when every lane is losing and they want you everywhere

I like xin. Solid level 3 gank, can hard carry after 3 items, and is easy to use/learn.

A recommendation I'd like to make are Nocturne MonkeyKing Shyvana Warwick and Olaf .

They are some of the "your jungle? my jungle*" champs that work very well if you want to counter jungle and put the enemy jungler behind, since they're all fair duelists with pretty speedy clear times. All except pre-6 shyvana and nocturne have some top tier ganks as well.

*special note that Nocturne does not need a leash to do his first clear. (honorable mention to Nasus because he doesn't either)

I personally don't think jgl is really the way to carry... You could give your team mates 5 kills each but they gotta know what to do with it which isn't very likely.... This is why I went from a jgl main to top and adc this season because I feel like I can carry much better in these roles and when I do have to go jgl I usually get udyr with zzrot and split push while my team is off chasing people and pushing mid even after we took mid inhib... I just wish that at the beginning of game we could designate a shotcaller and people would actually listen... But nope we kill 3 people I ping baron and my team all backs or pushes a lane getting nothing...

What junglers do play? I play xin and build an on hit build. So I can gank pretty well early and carry team fights after 3 items. If my team sucks and isnt playing to win, I can buy a hydra for wave clear and split to solo win.

You should play to improve yourself not to win...

Xeref2 votes

yes play to improve but always play to win. I trade roles and lanes all the time as if i think it will help win.

Mecha MaIphite3 votes

You can improve in normals.

MooseLaBoss2 votes

improve yourself in normals. dont go into competitive to "improve", you go into competitive to test your skill against others

I wear Givenchy2 votes

To all the salty people that responded, enjoy being in your low elo and blaming your teammates instead of yourself. I'm legit carrying myself out of silver even when every lane feeds.

Please try to present actual valid points and arguments instead of just attacking the person.

Even though he himself is not being very well mannered, his original point was pretty interesting to me and to be honest, the topic itself deserves a little more discussion IMO

But hey who am I to question the way people think in this community...

Faustavian1 votes

You play normals to have fun and improve. You play ranked to see how you fare against the community and a more competitive environment.

then like 90% of people wouldn't be playing

if you haven't realized that the other 9 people in your game are utter trash that Riot failed to place properly, since i estimate almost zero players ever being placed properly or being in an ELO they deserve, then you have a long road ahead of you

this game isn't even fun because of the community that plays it, you almost never have a game that is any good or even close, it's basically like lets play rock paper scissors in match making to see who we hand an AK to, and who we hand a water bottle with urine in it to.

I truly do, and that's because it's 100% true

if you can find a ranked game with anyone trying in it since the end of season 5 let me know who they are, i'd like to meet the small remaining group of people who actually care.

even in low diamond people still make the same stupid mistakes they make even in low gold because when people get tilted they do the exact same thing regardless of ELO, and people get tilted in this game over stupid shit like what champion someone picked

What are you talking about, there are barely any people in my rank who dont try, they all try there best and perform well. Yes some people have bad games but its whatever. I truely doubt that you are any better then your teamates, and if you are then you should be higher rank

Sucks. I'm tired, and i guess i just wrote a miniguide for you to follow. instead of deleting it, i'll just post it.

1.) Yeah, can be. depends on how much of a difference you make. 2.) irrelevant. Lane =/= game. It doesn't justify a shitty mid game 3.) sick, so you could make something happen

Play a more dedicated champion pool. It will make it easier to carry these kinds of people.

Sounds like a case of division 5 syndrome. basically you win these games by pushing mistakes as hard as possible, and out roaming. In order to make this happen, you need to understand your champion and its patterns. While Janna can peel, you can't make that much of a difference in a game if your carries are potato.

I would shift to play a lot more blitzcrank, and pick up lulu as the enchanter instead of Janna. Simply because both of them make so much more of a difference in gameplay compared to janna. You want to be able to make picks and enable people on support. Since you can't rely on teams, pick someone out and make the game a 4v5.

Take these masteries on Lulu / Janna: http://prntscr.com/f2fgus Masteries for blitz: http://prntscr.com/f2fi58 You benefit more from the safety of cunning and resolve than ferocity trees. Lulu runes: http://prntscr.com/f2fh2f (mana regen quints / armor quints) Janna runes: http://prntscr.com/f2fhf9 Blitz runes: Armor marks, seal of health, glyph of mr, armor quint, ms quint

Here's a checklist for support: 1.) At Least one ward per min 2.) Have a pink up constantly 3.) Ping a couples times every 5 mins to stop or direct allies. (Learn to shotcall.) 4.) Aim for the highest Kda in the game. no excuse to die more than once on janna.

For mid: 1.) Die less. Aim for 2-3 kills per death. 2.) Keep spamming similar champions (ahri / ori) to find your taste and make a pool. 2-3 champions 3.) Try for 80cs @10, and 180 @20 4.) try to roam 3 times between the 8-15 min marks

It's just something people say when they're having a tough game. Barring those intentional feeders and their ilk, everyone wants to win. Granted some people want to win and learn the game and try to figure things out while others just enjoy playing rather than making every correct decision, but, everyone would rather win than lose (at least that I my belief)

Twisted Spade1 votes

Dude have you seen normals? There is no way I would suggest anyone play normals above ranked, even if your not serious, ranked is better then normals, your just gona fall into your elo where you should be.... if your with a team of people falling.... its almost sad if you carry them and raise them up instead of letting them fall.

But hey thats why alt accounts are so fun right? 2-3+ players deserve a loss? No problems.

Don't worry, I had a tank sivir botlane in one of my ranked games. Seriously cringe inducing.

rtbf761092711 votes

Eh. If they are going to do no damage anyways they might as well die less. Everyone has played with that botlane that would have done more damage if they sold items for a thornmail

Faustavian1 votes

They started with item 3102 against a mostly AD comp and died the second most.

Leonerdo1 votes

I don't mean to justify the careless behavior, but I have to point out that Ranked sometimes encourages that mindset. (Don't lynch downvote me yet, I still think you should try to win every game, but hear me out.)

For instance, assume you are currently climbing, getting 20 LP on a win and losing 16LP on a loss. Also assume you are at 99LP. Now if you win you get 1 LP and a little bit of MMR as you enter promos, making those promos slightly harder. However if you lose first and then win, you drop 16 LP and then get 17, entering promos, but your MMR will be slightly lower thanks to the loss; thus if you lose first, promos should theoretically be easier. That's not to say that losing is the right option at 99LP, it's still a loss, and a win would still get you to promos fast. But there are mitigating circumstances that make the loss less of a setback than usual, and a win less of a boon (just 1 LP smh...) So I think it's understandable to care a little bit less when you're at 99LP.

Likewise, if you just got promoted or are in division V (i.e. you can't get demoted) and at 0 LP, there's essentially no penalty for losing except the lost time. Which is why division 5 ELO is especially cancerous sometimes, because people tend to care less about losing.

Overall, you should still try to win every game, 100%. But it's hard to get motivated when you're in one of those situations where the cost of losing and/or the benefit of winning is minimized because of how LP works.

So uh yeah, sorry for the tangentially related post, but I really think LP needs a couple of edge-case fixes.

I agree. And can the same be said that if you only care about winning can you stay out of blind pick?

Seriously, so many damned try hards now.

Lol thats just silver 3 and lower elo at work- It still happens in other elos just less common. mostly in 5th devisions like gold 5, plat 5 ect cuz thats where all the boosted animals are that think they are the next faker for reaching that tier. Gold 3 was chill af for me

Walmart Porn1 votes

Also its because people at the bottom tier of a rank just think oh i cant really be demoted so why try hard, while people at an upper tier of the same ranking really want to get promoted to the next tier

Anidan1 votes

I dunno.. I've seen plenty of trolling on higher-level games and purposeful throws. The key difference is that in a lot of those games, they're more subtle since the enemy team can take smaller advantages and leverage them better which means it's harder to prove that it's intentional. If anything, at higher levels the intentional throwing is just as bad but far harder to recognize; it's a special kind of evil, one born of skill and cleverness of the game's mechanics.

I've observed this in DotA2 and HotS, too.

Walmart Porn1 votes

Well it just depends honestly. In my expirence most trolling or afking either happens in your promotional searies, where you get boosted animals and tilted af players, or in the 3-5 tiers of a rank. The closer people are from lets say bronze to silver, or going from silver to gold, the more seariously they take it. thats not to say they dont feed and what not but more often than that at this stage feeding is unintentional. They feel closer to getting out of the rank braket theyre in and want to try harder. Its made more difficult of course by getting ranked with people that are like silver 5 army, gold 5 boosted animals, or plat 5 players that think theyre gods gift to league for being plat 5. Imo thats why promos are so much harder is you get t5 ranked players that dont put in the same ammount of effort people in their promos do to them, its just another match that wont mean much

Walmart Porn1 votes

And normals are just an entirely diffrent beast. In norms people just go "oh well its norms so i can just do what ever" which is true to a point of yeah you may as well try your new champs or picks and stuff here than ranked, but still no excuse to just give up, or do things that are just blantantly stupid and waste time time of 9 other people. If you wanna just fk around to to aram or bots lol

The Lexer1 votes

I just had a game where our supp flashed way too far in, complained about no follow up, then afk'd.

He then told the other team "once I afk'd, this team started losing, proving they don't deserve to win"

Kr1sys1 votes

Honestly, if you don't care about winning, don't play a game.

Winning and fun aren't mutually exclusive.

Best Darius KR1 votes

What IF I don't care if I win or lose? This game is supposed to be played for fun and, no matter how you put it, I feel like facing the game in a heavyhearted manner and enforcing this ideal of "I NEED to win" just makes the community more toxic and honestly it doesn't do any good because that's just asking to get frustrated.

No, I'm not in favor of intentional feeding or any kind of trolling, but I feel like I should have the right to play this game without some random guy telling me to "fuck off" or "die in a fire" because I didn't join the teamfight at the right time.

Just my 2 cents on the matter of course. This is, after all, just a game and you should treat it like one, and have fun. There's already way too much stress on your real life, why add to it?

Revali1 votes

I tend to try my best to win, but also try and not take it as seriously (as I noticed I tend to honestly perform worse) as some others

since that sucks the enjoyment out of the game and it leads to toxicity.
