Mini-games in LoL

I'm getting really fed up with the new mini game concept that pesters every new champion release and re-release, it's no fun, always feels like chosing between the pest and colera when acting out in them, you lose in one way or another if you're opponent has any freaking idea what they're doing.

Let's take Illaoi or whatever she's called for an example, now most of you might not agree as most the players are still garbage with her, but have you ever met one that always reserves their tentacles for when you're going after a minion? It will be the same thing everytime, you either chose missing damage or missing cs, and when it comes to cannon minions it's literally free damage for Illaoi, as you just can't give those up.

Now the same with poppy release, the fucking shield that you either take, either giving poppy a free hit on you or don't take giving poppy a free card to engage on you with little drawbacks, don't get me wrong, this is not a complaint about anything being OP, it's a complaint about gameplay turning fucking obnoxious. I haven't even played that many games this season and I'm already fed up with this shit, no wonder this game is going down the drain.

They are very, very needed in the game to prevent champions from feeling too similar to each other. Well-designed minigames are important to the feel of the game. If champions nowadays didn't have minigames like Yas's windwall or Illaoi's spirit, you'd be saying "Why did you make Yasuo if Tryndamere exists?" and "Why did you make Illaoi when Galio exists?"

This game has waaaaaaay too many characters to afford not making each and every one of them feel special.

Please note that I am not necessarily stating that the minigames that are in the game right now are fun or balanced. I said "well-designed" minigames are important to the game's health. We can't have too many characters feeling too similar.

From that perspective, I can agree, but I still believe there needs to be more of a risk feeling to mini-games, currently they just serve the champs that are attached to each mini-game.

I've made propositions on how to do this, that would considerably raise the skill floor of said champs however, so I doubt it will happen.

What about yorick? People HATE his minigame and call him "non interactive".

The problem with all these minigames is that Riot literally breaks one of their "design philosophies"(clarity/burden of knowledge) while actively enforcing powercreep at a insane level and they actually start to become boring.

The game gets more and more boring even with all those now zany minigames that actually start to feel the same. Use a skill, collect some shit to start the minigame again. Or as we can see it with Illaoi: Use a skill and trap your enemy inside a minigame that sucks the fun out of the game for the affected person and lasts at least 30 seconds.

Those dank minigames

I think their doing what they should, making champions more interesting instead of just making more Garen's and Warwick's.

You don't think there are healthier ways to do this than making hermaindinger 2.0 of new and remade champs?

Minigames always resault in the same boring stuff anyway, dodge, dodge, dodge, not only do you have to dodge the skillshots getting spat by the champion but also the skillshots from whatever plant, cannons, trees, cars, tentacles or other jibberish they spamm on the map.

Minigames is just the new buzzword for "interacting with your lane opponent". Seriously, whenever a champ that does ANYTHING in lane other than what has already been done, it "a gimmicky minigame".

When mini-games clearly have 0 drawbacks for the champions that bring them then yes, it becomes a gimmicky minigame, it diverts alot of focus away from other important things like keeping track of the map, being able to cs properly and what not.

What if Poppy's shield actually gave the opponent a buff if they stole it from her? I mean, it already spawns closer to her than the opponent anyway, or Illaois tentacles actually costed her health or extra mana if she failed to hit a champ with them? Currently she can spamm them without going oom for far too long, where are the drawbacks and where are the so called windows of weaknessess? There are none, these gimmicks only serves those abusing them and makes a sh*tty annoying experience for anyone going against it.
