Suggestion; Keep the players muted ingame muted in post game lobby.

If I've muted someone ingame, most likely they don't have anything neither nice or of value to tell me, so why do I have to read their flaming while checking my stats in the post game lobby?

Wouldn't it be better if those players we mute ingame just stay muted so I can read in peace without having to see whatever flaming jibberish they spout? If not enforcing this can we perhaps at least make it optional? Ya know, like crosschat is optional?

Would appriciate it.

I've started muting everyone in every game and my performance has improved a lot. Anything that needs to be communicated can be done through pings, the only positive thing that can be communicated through chat is "GJ"

I never see anything negative, i never feel the urge to correct someone who says something dumb/wrong, I enjoy my games a lot more now.

I feel ya, I have cross chat disabled because opposing team practically never has anything nice or meaningful to say. Anytime I make a mistake ingame I tend to mute my whole team untill after and if I manage turn stuff back around in my teams favor.

Just as with you this has massively improved my performance as I practically never go on tilt.

Regardless, I've had some really entertaining conversations with my teammates so I like to give it a chance before automuting. However, if I do mute, I want people to stay muted, especially after the game when I just want to chill and enjoy my victory or ponder my defeat.

If we're doing well or getting STOMPED i love turning chat back on to see what's going on. 9/10 i think to myself "wow i'm glad i didn't see any of this"

The best is when i'm playing jungle, i've had everyone muted all game, i've been farming, ganking and counterjungling. Our team is losing hard so i decide to see who's flaming and there's like a 1/9/1 ADC yelling "USELESS JG NEVER GANKS SO USELESS." I'm pretty sure they get more and more angry when you just don't reply. They have no idea they're muted so they think you're just ignoring them.

I wish I could upvote this 100 times. I turned off /allchat and mute team mates who aren't talking about the game.

I learned two things before muting most people.

  1. I can't help others. They just get defensive if you make suggestions.
  2. Self reflection after a loss more valuable than worrying about what my team mates were doing. I can improve. I can not help others improve. (See 1.)

Winning is fun. Everything else is just a distraction.

The game is much more enjoyable now.

A lot of useful things can be communicated in chat which can't go through pings, but yeah, the second someone starts flaming, I mute them.

Yes. I emailed Riot and got a reply back that this was forwarded on up the chain.

I just do not understand it. Riot PR department is all about "we hate toxicity in our game" yet after 6 years they still havn't expanded the mute system to include all areas of communication. Riot should be the poster child for the definition of "hypocrite". It's called practice what you preach. Riot doesn't do it.

Like others have mentioned I immediately ignore everyone when the game starts. I have never enabled All-Chat in years. (another example of a feature Riot has kept which only encourages BM) Once you ignore your team than it doesn't matter. They can say or do whatever they like. You never have to be effected by it.

But Riot like you mentioned did not mute people in the post game lobby. So if you mute someone in game for harassing you, they are not muted in the post game lobby. Actually I am 99% sure anything you say in the post game lobby is not verified by the AI tribunal system if you report them. I also emailed Riot to ask about this and the response I got back was "You should write this on the forums its a great suggestion".

Now if you block someone then they are completely blocked out in the client, but as far as I know you can not block someone while in a game. Which does not help. Again complete failure.

None of this stuff is hard. These are very tiny things that at least give people a way of completely protecting themselves from the toxic environment Riot basically encourages.

Good comment. Hopefully the new client helps this.

It's funny to me that Riot halved the leveling time at the same time they're adding clubs. Maybe it all works, but it doesn't seem like more smurfs and alt accounts are going to improve the game communication.

Really to me what I see is a severe pattern and problem with Riot and their leaderships inability to think and see things through.

Take clubs as an example. Could they be useful? Sure, but we already have chat rooms with tons of people in them for the same purpose. So what gives? Why are you building this clubs feature for something that already exists! Now sure you might say this is just first first step. That Riot will improve upon the feature. My response to that is name a feature released by Riot in the last 2 years that Riot has ever expanded on? Sure they will fix bugs. I am talking about a real upgrade.

Riots leadership team are just really young guys who think. "omg lets make a clubs feature that sounds awesome". They don't think it through. They don't look at what issue they are trying to resolve. They just think "omg lets do it" Then they release this "solution to a problem" that doesnt exist and they all high five and tell eachother job well done.

I mean look at it. It has a size limit of 49 people. Even if the size limit was 200 people. You are immediately excluding and destroying pre-existing chat groups which were built to serve the exact purpose your future clubs thing was built for. So you are "solving a problem" we already can solve, and you are in essence breaking solutions we already made and you are breaking up existing "clubs".

Look at the mobile app. An app designed to let us message our friends in league. Another example of a complete waste of time. Apparently Riot employees do not have cell phones. They dont know what texting is or what WhatsApp is. Another perfect example of Riots design leadership and their complete disconnect and failure to ever spend time developing solutions or features for real actual problems. We solved online communication in 1998 when texting started. And in 2008ish we started getting apps that can do amazing things.

Riot I do not need an another app that allows me to communicate with people. There are many many existing and far superior programs out there that already perform this function.

I just don't get it. Whoever is at the head of the table who drives the bus really needs to be released. Riot has a lot of technical and intelligent engineers and developers. What Riot does not have is someone at the head of the table with any vision, with any creativity, or connected with the player base.

You know what app Riot should of made instead of the chat app? They should of made a looking for group app. Riot is all about letting you play with friends. They want you to play with friends, but they don't provide a single realistic way of finding like-minded and interested people to play with.

You are releasing clubs? Great. You need to make the club size at least 1000.

You want to create an app? Fine. Make a LFG app that allows me to select things about myself at a pretty deep level and help me find like minded people with the same interests to play with.

There used to be a blocklist? :O

there is a blocklist... muting them just used to add them to it permanently... which included post game lobby

I'm betting this will be a thing when Riot releases their new client.

The issue right now is everything in the client is a separate system from everything in the game (including chat).

I would imagine their new client will be more closely integrated with the game itself and things will be tied better together (like not having to launch a new loading screen when the game starts).

I'm not saying this is a bad idea, but honestly what's the point? Why stay in the post game lobby? If you want to look at the stats, you're not looking at the chat. When you finish looking at stats, you can click play again. If you muted someone in game, that means you have no interest in what they say, so what's it to you if some of it slips by? Is it magically going to make you interested in them again? Do you need help being independent and willful? If so, you need to mature.

Since I don't suffer from tunnel vision it's kind of hard to ignore what gets written in post game lobby.

It's about allowing us to tweak the game so we get the best personal experience, I'm not suggesting a system that gets enforced, I'm asking for additional options to protect myself from a toxic environment.

Honestly, most people typically don't act remotely as bad in real life as they do online, most likely because they might have to stand for their words and actions in s way that extend beyond the risk of merely having an account banned.

Would you take the typical toxic profanities ragers and toxic players seem to love throwing at each other in this game in real life?
If not, why do you accept it online when it might possibly easely be remedied?

What's it to you if some of it slips by? As spoken by someone making excuses for toxic behaviour.

Maturity has nothing to do with eating insults, neither does indepence nor willfullnes. So why even bring it up?

On the contrary, if you' don't get upset when someone includes your mother in some profane insult over a game, I'd say you're either apathetic, an emotional masochist or simply a flamer yourself and hardly mature, independent or willfull.

Personally, I will admit I that reading certain things can make me upset, but getting upset is the last reason I play LoL, so any option to minimize exposure is good by me.

Ya... And it'd appreciate if muting a person also mutes or atleast reduces their ping spams. summoner 31

Mute. Most productive key in the game. It does improve 2 things. 1 your game play and 2 that quick response to type back fk u and end up being toxic like them. If you play good you will and if u don't it happens. If your jg is to dumb to read a map or gank then going off on them isn't going to fix it. Game lost. There is a ping option to use. Not that players use it or know it is there either.

I also use the mute button often. It's kind of sad that this game's playerbase is so toxic that we have to treat it like a single-player game sometime, but meh, oh well.

I think the reason why this hasn't happened is because the cilent and the in-game window aren't synced to each other. Example of this is why you can't change the graphics or in-game resolution in the client, the client is there to open the real exe of the game then you tweak things there. When the match is over and it closes then re-opens the client it will have no information sent from the exe letting it know who you muted in the exe. Muddy explanation but I hope you understand. Maybe the new client will have better exe functionality so we can even change hotkeys and graphics before the game exe launches.

I understand more or less, but surely some information must pass from the executable to the client, even if through the servers, considering how all our ingame stats get's stored post match?

Regardless I hope this thread gets some attention so Riot gets to know some players would appriciate a feature like this.

One advantage (?) to having muted players automatically become unmuted after the game is so that you can see their flaming in the post-game lobby, which is where the report button is. Sometimes I've forgotten someone was superbly toxic by the end of the game (due to having muted them), and so they remind me.

... yeah it's not really a very good advantage.

This is just the best idea that been around for wait.... hum 6 years already but riot will never go in this direction for a simple reason its give the player a DRAMA show and thats why most of thier players keep playing because they argguing online with other peoples and they feel important about it.

so forget about this 6 years old idea lol good luck.

Seriously? I didn't know this had been proposed already.

Personally, I get enough drama when I watch tv and IRL, why would anyone want to dramatize a game? :s

Moreover, can we make it so when you block people, it also mutes them in future matches? At least during/post game, not necessarily pre-game.

If -anything-, at least give us a notification so-and-so in your lobby is also on your block list, so we can manually mute them if we so desire?

Stonemperor1 votes

Well, it can provide you with some good copy-paste material to put in the reporto

This and PLZ RIOT - show in pre-game lobby if you are on a team with SOMEONE ON YOUR BLOCK LIST. If you have someone on your block list, you cannot read anything they type and, just like this post, they are on their for a good fucking reason. THIS IS A MUST TO ADD ASAP!
