Can someone give me one good reason to pick Jax over Riven or Irelia atm

I can't think of one

Both assassinate way better than he does, both have way easier time in the laning phase, both have better mid games, both are better teamfighters, and both are way more useful much earlier than he is

I have to disagree about some of your points. I think Irelia has less burst than Jax, but is tankier than the two. In contrast, Riven is sqishier than both of the others but has the highest burst. Jax has a better blend of both worlds. He also packs an AOE stun, ward hopping, and better dueling potential than both Irelia and Riven. He's better at split pushing, too. It comes at the cost of poor early game, though.

Riven has two aoe CCs with lower cast times Riven doesn't need a ward or a target to hop over walls

Riven is also arguably more of a risk than Jax. Jax can reach a very high state of power just by farming fow ahile. Farm helps Riven, but Riven can be much more kill reliant at times. Jax also has magic damage while riven is purely physical damage so building against Jax is less simple. And although riven doesn't need a ward to hop over walls, it is also a bit more difficult to pull off without practice, not to mention that you need the third strike of her q to get over the walls (or at least many of them, haven't played riven in a while so I can't quite remember).

And in the end it doesn't really matter that much. Irelia is probably the strongest in most scenarios of the 3, but thats the way the meta works. Different champions are stronger at different times.

It's her 3rd proc. And the range on her jump is much shorter than Jax's ward hop range. Fact of the matter is, Jax snowballs much harder than Riven or Irelia. He's also the most mobile of the three. However, Irelia is the only decent meta pick of the three right now until the meta shifts away from tank tops.

Dueling and split pushing. Jax beats both as long as he survives Rivens initial burst. Also takes down dragon and baron faster than either of those.

Jax isn't an Assassin though. That's where you (*)'ed up.

TANK meta, jax can get super tanky with alot of damage and amazing split pushing. Riven is an early game champ that is almost usless against a tanky top laner while irelia is a good champ still.

Because if you pick Irelia or Riven just because you hear they are OP, you will fed and lost you and your team many games. Expecially if you firstpick them.

I don't see how they're similar whatsoever?

None, not when his E is so badly designed

jax has an unconditional AOE stun, irelia has a conditional single target stun.

so yeah, "much better teamfighter" indeed.

as much as I love irelia, her highest point is post-trinity around the 15-30 minute mark where people are still trying to farm lanes but there's a few skirmishes and tower pushes without either team really wanting to fully commit. when you get in to full blown late game team fights though, her damage has dropped off and she needs a tank to initiate for her otherwise she gets focused and melted.
