How do you work with feeders?

And I suppose I'm asking in a specific way: how do you work with the feeders who immediately start writing I can't guys, he's too fed. It's over"

I'm a support main. I can try to roam up and help, but that attitude, combined with the refusal - and I mean ears covered, screaming "la la la la la" refusal - to change playstyle, build order, or item selection I find to be absolutely exhausting.

It's like they believe you're either fed or feeding. No in between option. And whatever garbage MOBA Fire guide they read told them to build X first so they keep doing it. I had a Riven top lane recently who was getting roasted. And I'm like "Dude, bot's doing well, and Mid is on fire. Just hug, build tank, and take the win"

Wouldn't do it. "No, I have to build Black Cleaver first. I need damage." Despite my dancing around the issue of "you can't damage when you're dead, and you seem to be unable to stay alive", he absolutely refused to change anything.

Currently I've just muted and tried to get other players fed, but obviously a 9 kill top-laner coming out of the lane phase is a real problem. Thoughts?

My advise would be to simply stop talking to them... You drag yourself down when you start attempting to explain things to people in game. If they feed oh well... There will be more games, but you have the opportunity to carry if you play and don't FF. This is how I got to D3.

You climb by winning more than you lose but don't kid yourself. A lot of these games are unwinnable or even if they are winnable, it;s not worth the stress. There will be more than enough games where you can win even when your team is doing badly.

I never understand this "never give up" mentality people in this game like to champion and I think is actually a terrible thing. Why do you encourage people not to FF no matter what. If you have a bot lane that feeds 22 kills in 17 minutes for example, you should just FF. Can you win ? Probably. Are chances high that you can win it ? No. Why stress yourself out. FF and move on. Chances are the next game, the enemy team will be the one feeding or the game will go kinda even and you can have an impact.

It's only stressful if you make it stressful... It's not stressful for me to carry a game... It's actually rather rewarding and fun, Because I mute toxic people flaming about their KDA and actually play the game to win... If we lose... oh well... if we win... great! But intentionally forfeiting games because you have no hope is just silly lol. You will never get out of bronze/silver with that attitude and I don't say that in a mean way... I want people to meet their goals of climbing... But I just find that don't want to listen to people who have succeeded.

You gank their lane and cash in on that sweet sweet shut-down gold.

I usually just fill them in the mornings before the squirrels come out. Idk, seed or something, depending on what you're trying to attract? Not sure the League forums is the best place to ask for advice on your lawn-creature maintenance.

My only regret is that I have but only one upvote to give.

Thanks for the laugh, brother. I needed that.

You really can't escape this. Feeders are a huge problem, I admit. I find it best to FF as soon as possible so as not to waste too much time trying to win an unwinnable game. Only about 40% of your games will have excessive feeding on your team that means 60% of your games, the outcome will depend on you. Just be a better support so you can win a number games in that 60%.

In other words, don't worry about games where you have a mid lane that goes 0-9 in 10 minutes. Worry about the games where you guys are only a little behind and there's still a chance for your team to come back.

These are the most random and non-factual set of statistics I've ever seen....

Not random. It's based on what I experience every time I play. A little less than half of my games, there's a lane or multiple lanes that feed excessively. A little less than half is why I said 40% of games. Hell I even came up with a name for such games, I call them "kill per minute" games. Basically, I expect 4 in 10 games where my team feeds more than a kill per minute and in such games I just do whatever until we lose or I can encourage a surrender. I only focus on the games where this doesn't happen which thankfully is a bit more than games where it does.

If you do some quick math.... If you are automatically casting out 40% of the games you play as an auto loss and only focusing on 60% of your games to win... Even if you win 2/3 of the games in that 60%.... you are only winning 40% of your games... which means you won't climb... Which ironically enough... is your win rate right now in ranked lol

The goal is not to carry 2/3s of it. The goal is to carry every single one. I can't do that yet but I am getting better at it.

which means you won't climb...

Not true. I went from struggling in B5 to S5 this season. I was able to climb.

And if I have the time to play as much next year as I did this year, I have no doubt I can make it to Gold. I don't need to stress myself over those unwinnable 40%. As long as I learn to carry the ones where I don't get feeders, trolls, afks and such.

My understanding is that you lose more LP in surrender. That, to me, is the best reason not to do it.

But 90% of the time, I refuse to quit for the following reasons:

  1. The guy who's asking is the reason we're behind
  2. The guy was given good advice, didn't listen, and then fed
  3. Generally: Someone needs to learn to do something differently. So now I'm punishing them.
  4. Quitters are always quitters. I'm not going to let them queue up quickly to ruin someone elses game. Fight hard. Be smart. Backdoor the inhib. Fight under the tower. Never lose faith in the stupidity of the other team to overextend.

Your LP gains and losses are related only to your MMR relative to the expected MMR of the rank you're currently at. It doesn't matter if the games goes 20 minutes or an hour, you get the same LP.

As a rule I surrender games where my team feeds 1 kill per minute or more. If I get a team that feeds continuously, the very first thing I look at is the time that has passed and compare it to the number of kills fed. If I see 15 minutes has passed and the enemy team has 21 kills, that's FF for me. It's been my experience that this kind of feeding never stops. Between season 5 and now I've played around 1700 ranked games, give or take and about 700 of these games were games like this and I can only recall about 4 or 5 times we were able to make a comeback. The other 695 games, my team kept feeding right up until our nexus exploded.

I bitched and moan like everybody else. Much of that time I was struggling in Bronze and thought it was the reason I couldn't get out. Eventually, I did get out. I learned that the way to climb is to make a difference in the games where you don't have feeding team mates. For example, lets say by 20 minutes the score is like 13-8 in favor of the enemy team, I know that this is winnable. I just have to be the one to make the difference. I go balls to the wall try hard when I get games like this. Even games where the score is like 14-13 by 20 minutes, that's a win. I learned how to make a huge impact in such games and these games are slightly more common than games where people feed out their ass.

Remember this, any game where your team feeds less than a kill per minute is a winnable game. Everyone of these you lose is your fault. Learn how to make the difference in these moderate games and you will climb. I've done it. There's nothing wrong with surrendering games where your team is getting stomped hard. This is the reality of climbing. Trying to fight these hard games out will only tilt the fuck out of you when you finally lose it and it will affect your mindset in future games especially since it can happen several games in a row. I rare tilt that much anymore because I've accepted that there are games that I can't carry and I know that there will be more that I can carry.

In this season 7 I've been placed in Bronze 5 and already I had several games I couldn't carry due to excessive feeding but I know I will make it to Silver again. There's no doubt in my mind because I know what to do when I don't have a feeding team and I know I will get a fair amount of games without excessive feeding. My team gives me even the slightest advantage by not feeding and I will carry that shit hard. And on rare occasion, I get carried by someone else so there's that too.

This is legit just straight up wrong. There is a reason why you are at the bottom of the barrel and it's because you can't accept the fact that you aren't good enough to win hard games. A mentality like that won't get you far and doesn't help anyone when you spread it.

If you say so. There are more than enough easy wins to climb so I don't need that never surrender bullshit. Yall can keep that. I don't really care about reaching Platinum or Diamond or Masters. When I reach Gold, that's good enough for me. I can make Silver so that not out of reach for me.
