How disconnected from Karma is riot really?

I saw some of the post on the develop blog for Karma and riot is saying that statistically, most ppl want a support focused rework for Karma. I find that hard to believe because 90% of ppl don't even like playing support. So no one would go complaining on the boards about support Karma needing buffs.

Most complaints were along the lines of the following...

Karma lack of identity
A lot of ppl said the wanted her shield bomb back
A lot said they didn't like her passive or her ult or both.
Her W was considered awkward and bland.

This sums up most of the complaints I remember seeing on the boards so anyone correct me if I'm wrong, because I feel like riot somehow missed those complaints for the past 5 years....

They made a mistake 5 years ago, refused to rectify it and work on Ryze, Ezreal, new champions and popular champions instead, and using just about every excuse to not own up to mistakes and actually work on Karma. They haven't listend since even before the relaunch. They don't care at all in any capacity.

Laning with karma top and mid was some of the most fun I had with this game honestly. Also mid laning Morgana and zyra I used to love.

I don't know why riot and seemingly the player base of this game is so absolutely stuck on extremely rigid and unbending roles for so many champs and lanes.
