"My main is not OP", why we are biased

TLDR; this post is a post about WHY we are biased, it is designed to be an informative post, if you would like to upvote or downvote, i only ask that you read the entire post and form an opinion on what you think of my opinion of why we are biased are. NOT because you disagree with my opinions about certain champions

We all main a champion, and naturally we like that said champion, so we don't want to see it nerfed.

But its beyond the point were we don't WAN'T to see it nerfed. for the most part ACTUALLY think our mains are balanced.

So what makes a main think he isnt OP what makes a think she wasn't OP during the release of cinderhulk

and because i would be hypocrite not to include it... what makes me think my main isn't OP

Regardless of elo we need to consider a few things

I'm going to use myself as an example.

i have mained nidalee since season 3.. i have over 2000 games as her and over 1000 wins

so naturally i know nidalee inside and out, i know here strengths, i know her weaknesses. i know her counters, i know who SHE counters

so i am the PERFECT person to make an opinion about nidalee! Right?

well no I'm not.

becuase while i have play AS nidalee a countless number of times. how many times have i had to FIGHT nidalee? well lets see, i dont ever play blind and haven't since i got 16 champs to allow me to play ranked. (becuase i need to ban the OP champs) so this means EVERY game i play nidalee is a game I'm NOT facing nidalee

well lets say for whatever reason I'm in a game and i want to go nidalee, and she isnt banned, but the other team picks her first.

well im a nidalee main.. i know exactly where her counters are and exactly HOW to counter her. i can tell me teammates what champs not to pick once i see she is locked in. and i know EXACTLY at what point she can kill me, exactly what her cooldowns are. ever with next to zero games facing her i am the PERFECT person to fight against an enemy nidalee.

so i am a nidalee main and i see my opponent pick nidalee, that doesn't even mean that THEY are a nidalee main. in fact EVERY nidalee main i have EVER faced on the opponents team.. a nidalee where i was actually impressed by thier plays and i thought wow this person is almost as good as me or wow this person is BETTER than me, i want to talk to them to learn how to improve. i have added as a friend

So what data am i seeing when i play as or against my main? when i play as my main i can see exactly who is absurdly OP vs her exactly her weaknesses and i know everything about playing nidalee

when i play against nidalee i see a champion which i know i can EASILY beat becuase i know them inside and out.. and anyone who dones't know how to beat my main is just not fighting me the proper way i HAVE my weaknesses. they ARE there i know EXACTLY what they are.

so naturally as a main i would feel my champ is balanced.

now lets take another champion

i am 100% positive he is OP i hate zed.. he is completely broken.

but why do i think that? do i know zed's skills? yes have i had to face zed over 500 times? yes and about 95% of the time i face zed.. i lose

well who do i play mid? i play and before they threw her into the jungle and destroyed all her other lanes .

well guess what. zed HARDCOUNTERS EVERY SINGLE ONE of those champion.

so naturally zed is "OP".

now zed IS OP, but that fact is, if i reach that conclusion ONLY because he hard counters my 3 mid laners... then even though my opinion HAPPENS to be right. my opinion would be 100% biased, and regardless of the fact that i am right or not, i would be an idiot to claim evidence based on fighting him with ONLY those 3 champs

now because we cannot become experts at EVERY single champion. none of is will EVER because able to truly determine the balance of every champion.

yet there are SOME champion i play that i DO know are balanced and although it is impossible to become 100% unbiased

i HAVE played as AND against them MANY times and with many different champion enough to get what i consider to be a "fairly" accurate idea

for example i play mid and support, i know her skills inside and out i know how to counter her, HOWEVER i have ALSO FACED lux a VERY large number of times, i have faced her with multiple different champions. and enough then i do play her i have faced her enough to form an much more valid opinon

another champ i play is

i love to play blitz, and i know how to counter him. but i ALSO know EXACTLY how hard you need to be paying attention to his range the enemy ADC AND where the minions are in front of you to keep him from pulling you.

and frankly.. even though i PLAY him, even though i know EXACTLY what to expect, and even though i can dodge about 80-90% of the hooks, i STILL get grabbed.

but the difference between me a a fresh lvl 30 (non smurf) is that when i get pulled i KNOW it was MY mistake, and i KNOW before the pull even touches me, sometimes before he even starts to animate the pull.. that i just f*cked up.

and you know what I'm fine with that.

so while i feel that i should be the "best" person in the world to comment on nidalee not being OP. and i know zed mains feel they are the "best" people to comment on zed "not being op" (thier wrong btw)

i know deep down that i really don't have ANY idea what is is like to face a nidalee, as a person who doesn't know EXACTLY what to vs her, i will never know. because i cannot UNLEARN my champion. and therefore the ONLY way to get a TRULY unbaised opinion would be to FACE a nidalee of my own or better skill level at LEAST 100 times. and even then.. i know.. i'd be a little biased
