Why Does Almost Every Defensive Item in the Game Have CDR (just give tanks cdr per level instead?)

Professor Ward··2 votes·318 views

Makes zero sense, its almost impossible to get endgame without at least 30% cdr on a tank build. Where before i had to choose between cdr and tank stats, Now im searching for an item thats not going to push me to 50% wasting gold in the stat.

Building against ap feels especially un-selective, at this point** we should just be buying the unique passives ** and getting the stats per level........

CDR itself needs to be reigned in. The stat has become ridiculously saturated into the fabric of the game.

cdr is in almost every items anyway

even meddler acknowledged that it's a problem it's cancerous af

Would you please not twist the quote around? You're better than that...

What's the thinking on why such an item's needed? If anything I'd be more concerned about MR itemization potentially being too powerful, or CDR too broadly found. Can see the desire to be able to buy it in game on some champs, but I'm missing a clear argument for why it'd be good for the item system overall.

He said, if he was concerned, it would be more about CdR potentially being to broadly found.

what the fuck is your problem? meddler just said that cdr being everywhere is his concern

The bolded part, where he says that the following are potential issues: MR itemization being potentially too powerful, or CdR being potentially too broadly found.

The issue with overabundant CDR is CC, damage, and mobility creep. Not wasted gold.

You're wasting less than 200g in stats. That's nothing considering manaless champs often buy items with mana on them.

Benefit of the passives+stats>>>>200g.

The short answer: Because CdR is a good padding stat for power budgets, as it is useful for virtually any champion, without increasing the respective item's always-on defensive/offensive power.

Just imagine a League where Abyssal Mask, Adaptive Helm and Maw have their CdR remove, but got the freed power budget in the form of additional MR. That's 15-20 MR more, per item.

mask had no cdr in the form of abyssal sceptre and it nor adaptive existed before this season with decent results.

Actually scepter has had CDR since the mid season mage rework.

CDR per level?

That's just dumb.

i was being obnoxious ofc, not serious. And btw most of the "cdr" in the game comes from leveling up already///

I know. Hence why it is dumb to suggest otherwise.
