Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh this shouldnt even be possible, and its not the "unnecessary climbing" thats the problem, i have no problem climbing ranks. its the fact that real silvers are going to have to now play with a plat player. If games were unevenly matched before i cant even imagine now.

I was plat 5. I won 8 I REPEAT 8 out of 10 games

Guess what. I'm silver 2 . Silver full of plats apparently. Good luck climbing that shit

Starcall Casey2 votes

Tbh, I'm not sure how people in plat are getting such a low rank this season. I went 5-5 went from Plat 4 to Gold 1 in placements. Did great in every game and didn't stop at just plat 5 like most people do. Is that a big reason?

Neo Cyrus8 votes

I know Diamond players who got placed Gold 5. High-larious.

if stuff like that's happening people like me are gonna get bronze 5 if we win all 10 of our games... [zombie-nunu-tears]

I was plat 2 with ~60 games played, high mmr, played with low diamonds, won 8/10, got plat 5, exactly what I expected.

What's confusing to me here is that theres a very clearly stated and defined problem with supporting evidence and yet Riot refuses to respond or fix the issue. I dropped from Silver something to Bronze 5 last season with my placements despite going something like 7/3 with no less than 20 kills a game carrying hard and I simply stopped playing. Im sure theres many other people like this too. As a business it simply doesn't make sense, the amount of lost revenue must be incredible.

XIII Vanitas3 votes

A friend of mine started playing in Season 4 and got placed in Silver 4. He dropped to Silver 5 and then, in Season 5, did his placements again: he won only 3 or 4 games out of 10 and got placed in Bronze 1. Maybe it's me, but your stories seem really fishy, because he didn't manage to get to B5 even though he lost a lot of games.

GroovyBagpiper2 votes

its probably true. I've won 7 games and dropped 5 divisions

DjadjaKN3 votes

Yea I was silver 5 last season. On a win streek. i won 7 games, carrying hard all of em, and still got placed bronze 4. My sister lost 9 games only winning 1 and got bronze 2. Like wth!!!

I made a post about this awhile ago. With Riots terrible soft resets with the new seasons they force everyone into the same pool. Prior to the wipe 27% of ranked players are bronze and 42% were silver. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to do a little match and realize that it is almost guaranteed in every match a bronze player is in, they will be playing against golds and higher.

Forget the problem with Riot using the season as a way of trying to resolve the discrepancy between your rank and your MMR and all the people QQing about having to climb again. The issue Riot should be concerned about is all the players they lost who get incredibly frustrated being ROFL stomped in ranked for 9-10 games because of Riots terrible system. Every person that quits is the loss of potential revenue. I have a really hard time believing Riot is not losing people because their system is matching very low skill players with high skill players.

Riot no longer cares about anything other than money. They are under new ownership, their founders sold out. Riot has sold 7% of their company shares to Tencent Holdings (China conglomerate company) to give them complete ownership. The company and their founders used to care about the players, but they have sold out. The only language Riot speaks now is money. So if you are going to make an argument about something you have to put it in dollars and cents.

TL:DR - Riot has sold out to a Chinese company. They no longer care about the players. They care about money. Riot's system forces 27% of its population to play against much better players. Riot has to be losing people who get fed up with getting owned for 9-10 games in placements. Ignore every other change and you opinion on it their placement system itself has to cause Riot to lose players and money.

Dude you do realise you dont face people just because of your division you face people who have similar MMR

magic pole2 votes

then why bother showing us our division. why bother with divisions at all if it's mmr based.

just show us the fucking mmr of ourself and everyone in our match then and everyone would be much happier and better mentally situated.

LittleBlast1 votes

You know what silver 3 is, diamond, plat. Do you know what 1200 mmr is? What 1800 mmr is? Its to help organize and so people can tell what a rank is. I would like seeing both though.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

You don'T really understand the issue do u? You are placed in a certain division tier (mine is silver 1 right now) but i have high gold to platin mmr so i get matched with high golds and platins even though i am sitting in silver... so just get rid of this division crap when all matches are based on your MMR or atleast give us the possibility to show our MMR. So far you need third party sites and every site gives u another MMR....

rtbf2256182415 votes

For the last time you will be demoted roughly an entire tier unless you are Diamond and above. Good luck!

I was diamond 5 and lost 7 games and got plat 5. shrug I don't get it either.

I was plat in season 4, got placed in silver 2 just like you at the start of season 5. Took less than 2 weeks to get back to plat, skipped divisions all the way there. That is common, its not that bad chill.

It is bad. Many folks are upset they dropped. Riot is pissing off their player base. How can that be good?

Besides, if Silver is full of plat players how is that fair to the true silver and bronze players you might be playing against?

Stevev456 votes

You don't play against people in your division, you play against people with similar MMR. Seems like they put people in divisions lower than their current MMR.

1011001110002 votes

Then what's the point of having divisions? Just to make promos annoying? >_>

BluePolarizer3 votes

but all the silvers got tanked into bronze 5.

Jedimeister993 votes

I was gold 3. I won 7 out of 10 games, I got placed in Silver 1. It seems to me like your MMR was kinda bad for plat to begin with, and the reset made it go down even further.

magic pole2 votes

plat 5 100 LP >>>>>>Gold 5 0 LP

I went 6-4

that's fine i played poorly in some of my games, but guess what? One of my "placements" was a 4v5 because one player never connected. Another loss of mine was yet again a 4v5: my support nami dove at level 4 trying to land a bubble in order to interrupt the enemy tristana's recall. She died of course and instantly rage quit leaving us a 4v5 from level 4 to end of the game. THAT SHIT you don't ever see in plat. I doubt you even see that shit in silver.

just sorta of bullshit that you can work to improve all season, and then just instantly be demoted 5 division over the course of 10 TEN games. not everyone has the time to play 100+ ranked games per season. I can easily climb back to plat if I grind out the games, problem is i don't want to fucking grind the games and deal with silvers and golds along the way.

Retillin3 votes

Restting peoples MMR every season isn't the issue. It's the fact that Placement games seem to have no real effect. If you are (as the person posted a few days ago) B1 and win 8/10 games, you should not drop down to B5. What is the point of placements if this has no real effect on your actual placement.

Just cut everyone's MMR in half at the start of each seaon or just remove 1000 MMR (or whatever is "fair" by Riot's standard). And let people climb from that.

I was plat 1, now im gold 3. I went 3-7 in promos. I had to report 6 people for afking in just those promos. Now im 16 wins, and 37 losses. I cant win a game to save my life. Ive tried absolutely everything I could think of. Ive played the champs im most comfortable with, but I still cant win a single game. I was ranked the 200th best zyra, and 700 best ahri NA last season, but now i cant win a single game with either. It doesn't matter how much roaming i do, or how many times I gank a lane, i still lose. Out of the 53 games ive played, the top laner has fed 46 of them. whenever i don't go mid, the midlaner feeds, whenever I dont go bot, the bot lane feeds. I have only had 4 games where the jungler on my team has actually done something. At this point, I think i have to make a new account, and ditch the 100's of dollars ive spent on this one, I honestly just cant win a single game no matter what I do, im just too far down the rabbit hole to win another game.

I just don't understand, I won almost every single game in Plat 1, carrying was so damn easy there. I had a 6.1 kda on ahri over 150+ games. I just cant figure out what is happening this season for the life of me.

I think the reset is a bit harsh, but as long as it's fair (the same relative drop for most players), then I don't see a big issue with it. However, I do see the issue with plats being in silver, golds being in bronze, etc. Normally, I would just say play some matches and you'll climb naturally if you're really at that MMR. However, so many people are so far off their MMR that it's going to take a decent chunk of time for that to happen. Instead of being gold with 4 bronze on your team and 5 bronze on their team, you're more likely to have 1 or 2 gold players on the other team as well. It then comes down to luck of which team has more higher-than-expected MMR players instead of skill. Things will stabilize, but it's pain for people in the meantime. I can't even imagine how hard it will be for the legitimately bronze and silver players who are going to eventually get repeatedly stomped because they aren't playing against their own MMR yet.

As for me, I learned to stay away from ranked at the start and end of a season. The start is a mess with this issue (made worse this year by a harsher reset), and the end is full of people trying to rush rewards and oh-so-many MMR boosters.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. Lost 6 of my placements, one more to go until I find out where I'm at. Started at gold, might be tanking to low silver due to my high loss streak.

This is why soft resets suck. They put too many people together who shouldn't be together and it results in a ton of games where who wins it based on luck of which team was clearly much better before it even started and nothing else. Bronze and silver are already too bunched up at the end of a season, resetting the mmr this much just makes it 10x worse.

Seenan2 votes

First placements I ever did was in S4, just before the season ended...Gold 5 (8-2). Fell a bit to Silver 4 or 3 because of a huge loss streak. Next season...Bronze 2 or 3, (5-5 or 7-3 or something)...Ended up S3 cause I couldn't manage to get out of S2 with how stupid MM is at the 2nd division and in promos. This season, Bronze 1...Just managed to work my way back to Silver 5 yesterday. Like, why?

I remember Riot put in a system that was supposed put you 'relative' to your previous rank, but apparently to Riot that means literally 1-2 leagues down.

Matched up against 2 people below level 30 and 2 B5's. What did they even do to the MMR?

I was not plat and not as bad of an experience, but similar experience. Was silver, now BRONZE V after 6/10 placement wins. . . And can not get a winning team, no matter how well I play.

Personally i don't mind the new placing. Obviously ist a Problem that People with a very wide range of elo will have to Play against each other, but otherwise the idea is good. In the old Placements you could get an average amount of wins, get placed silver and leave it for the rest of the year. This Problem will also resolve a bit into the year, with stronger people climbing fast. With the new System im Aware that i'll probably get placed significantly lower than i was before, but i also know that climbing will be alot easier thanks to the new climbing System. We now have to work towards the rank we would like, and aren't set as much by an original placing, which might include afks in 1/2 of your matches. If you don't play youl stay bronze, but that indicates you were satisfied with such. However if you actively try to climb, in the Long run the new System allows for better ranks for those that work for them.

BadmoonBC1 votes

Can you explain what the new climbing system is? I must haved missed something?

after reading all these posts on here and reddit, etc, I decided to put my smurf through placements. last season 20~ games, silver 5 (positive mmr) this season, went 8-2, 4 game win spree, 2 game lose spree, then 4 more game win spree bronze 5 smurf.

in the past, there was some talk of "soft reset" being: (your old elo + 1200) / 2 and that's where you started your placements; but so far, seeing everyone's post, I see: (your old elo - 1200), now climb!

I worked my way almost completely solo to plat 4. Now I am stuck in low gold and ALWAYS get low gold players on my team while being placed against plat players on the enemy team. No idea what RIOT has done but it's terrible. It's literally impossible to carry these guys. I can start out super well but in the end just get dominated because every lane somehow feeds or rages or tower dives a full hp mundo. I have completely lost my incentive to play ranked now because it's not possible to get teams without ragers, afkers, trolls, and straight up bad players. So I guess my question is... Why does riot put plat level players on the enemy team but my team always has low gold level players who often play like bronze? Is it because my MMR USED to be high? Or is my account bugged? Even my friends noticed that when playing with me we get the worst trolls and afkers on our team. They play without me and it's not half as bad.

Masynia1 votes

Dude i got placed in silver 2 from Plat elo. Now I'm Diamond 5. All of you quit crying.

Just start a new account if you think your better then your placement. I know it sucks trust me, I have every champ and pretty much everything you can get in the game minus 20ish skins on this account but it's worth starting over if you're into ranked.

I went from Bronze 5 to Gold 2 in preseason in 3 weeks, I won 27 of 29 matches prior to placements, then won 9/10 placements (1 loss was from 2 AFKs on my team) and was placed in Bronze 4 (I had not played since season 2). I kept getting to bronze 2 and then demoted to Bronze 3 four different times before I finally decided I was done with the trolls and afkers in Bronze. I quit the game for a month, just came back 2 weeks ago and made a new account. My new account I went 9/10 in Placements and was placed in Gold 2, well worth it in my opinion. Bronze is just terrible, the only way you're getting out of it is grouping with friends or getting extremely lucky. I bet30% of my matches had an afker and probably 70% had trolls or first timers.

Or you can, you know, just not be bad...

I could play a champion I've never touched before and 1v5 for wins in bronze...

Also, why necro this?
