Can Support Ivern with smite work?

If it works on nunu, i don't see why it can't work on Ivern

you're completely wasting his passive. Ivern is an amazing support jungler, and a pretty bad bot lane support. Unless you're thinking about joining the ranks of the banned and queueing as support to go double jungle instead.

so it works, thank you for the information

I see nothing wrong with it since you would not be stealing jg buffs effectively, but Ivern is a terrible support imo. But the problem you'll find is that whole double jungle thing. Whether or not you take smite is irrelevant. Whether or not you're ever in your lane and for what duration is, however.

if you don't take smite you can't steal enemy's buff

Right. But the point was in general. I could take smite as a Zyra supp, and it really doesn't matter. Waste of a summoner spell. But if my intention is to farm the enemy JG, therein lies the problem.

Zyra can't make us of smite like ivern

Technically speaking, she'd be no worse off than Ivern. Zyra can JG, albeit it's way more risky. And if you're up in enemy territory farming their buff camps, you're not likely to pass the extra buff off to an ally. They'd likely get murdered trying to get it. You both would likely get murdered trying to get it once people wise up to what you're doing. Not to mention the whole perma-3v1 bot lane issue you're setting up.

whether or not it works, I'm not sure. It's probably a bad idea, though. If you want to play him in the jungle, just queue for jungle.

Why can't he queue as jungle and support? The Support role doesn't say "Support Bot Lane" so he doesn't HAVE to go bot.

If he believes supporting from the jungle, top, mid, or even bot is the most effective no reason he should be limited to bot. Unless of course riot changes it to say "Support Bot Lane"

I don't understand how riot can claim that people are "stealing roles" when they've claimed it's completely acceptable to break the meta.

Nunu support with smite doesn't work. Ivern support with smite doesn't work. If you're wanting to be "supportive" as those champions, play them how they're meant to be played — say it with me — SUPPORTIVE JUNGLERS.

almost any champion can be played as support and work, its just a matter of skills/itemization and communication.

The biggest issue I see with Smite supports is, (Assuming your not being the second Jungler) your basically trying to make uses of Jungle itemization in the support role. The only way that would work effectively is either a) your using it for the smite upgrade. That could make the smite spell itself more supportive, but that really hasn't been used since the smite upgrades were introduced back in season 5. and then b) you want to use Tracker's knife in lieu of a sight stone, Which is a terrible substitute, because it gives you only 2 wards.

Other than that, the only uses to having smite is simply for the extra neutral objective control. But that could also be accomplished by the champion's kit itself. Nunu's consume makes him pretty good at taking/securing jungle monsters smite or otherwise. It may even be possible to run Cho'gath Support and use his feast for extra objective control, without needing to supplement that with smite.
