Who are you and what have you done with League of Legends | A cerebral player's feelings on the game

Let me preface this by saying I am an Azir main. Been playing him since introduced, and hes been my most played ever since.

With that out of the way, here are my placement results mostly over 4 1/2 sessions:

Game 1 (Azir mid): Loss - Minimal Jungler impact main cause, short game Game 2 (Vi Jungle): Loss - I got caught out too many times, tried to force team to help by starting objectives alone instead of leaving them Game 3 (Azir mid): Loss - Had to solo carry against fed enemy nasus. I got caught later on and cost the game, medium game, almost reached 1v5 status Game 4 (Ezreal ADC): Loss - Thresh too reckless and Yasuo inting? ("I decide we should lose because I dont like Thresh, youre all toxic") Game 5 (Talon Mid): Win - Was rather disillusioned at this point, so chose Talon because why not have some fun. Relatively easy game as i got fed as christ Game 6 (Shen Top): Win - Intuitive bot picks (Cass carry Teemo Supp), but TL;DR Yas and Jax got fed as shit Game 7 (Ekko Top): Win - Zed and Twitch got fed Game 8 (Talon Mid): Win - Got reasonably fed, I could roam but Veigar couldnt, took a while to close but we assassinated the carries and won an easy teamfight Game 9 (Yasuo Mid): Win - Bit of a weird game, enemy team tunneled on me too often, too hard, then got rekt by pantheon and jhin Game 10 (Azir Mid): Loss - Was hoping to close out series with an Azir win. Enemy jungler presence far exceeded ours, enemy bot eventually rotated mid, trynd-hec duo baron at 24 mins lead to broken bases and the game shortly after.

So looking at this, I'm basically left with something along the lines of: "Why the fuck should I bother picking anything at all if it isnt strong early?"

Now maybe I've been a bit stubborn, and should've seen this much earlier, but good god what kind of game are we playing anymore? As far as optimal play is concerned, theres no damned reason to even TRY and pick a late game champion. You just get dumpstered early, or your teammates do. There aren't enough wards for anyone to protect themselves sufficiently, early game gold is fucking atrocious, and late game scalers simply take too damn long and need too many items.

The worst thing about my placements is that the talon and yasuo games were nowhere near as good as most of the Azir ones. The latter 2 Azir games I dealt the most damage in the game, was basically top cs in both, and held my own in lane despite MANY attempts to gank me. The Talon games I basically waffled through arbitrarily deciding "oh hey ezreal is kinda pushed up, I can probs kill that", insert parkour boing noises, +300g.

In the end its your game riot, i just want to know if youre okay with it being like this. I play Azir because I have a much easier time planning soldier movements than i do AA cancelling and key-comboing on riven, so you could say I'm more of a cerebral player, but frankly I don't feel like there's much place for me in the game right now. Theres really only 1 tactic worth using which is: "fuck comps, fuck planning, just goon-squad motherfuckers for free games". And there's no way to counter it because the tools people used to use to avoid these 'tactics' have been gated behind items specifically designed to either be accessible by only 1 group item 3711 , or poor itemisation on all but another group item 2049 .

You've already made it nigh-impossible to truly solo carry anymore, now you're approaching "You've handicapped yourself because you don't have a teammate playing with you to watch your back, ie deciding to play the game".

I believe the issue is not

"why pick late game scalers, when you can pick early game"

I think the biggest issue is

"everyone is late game"

Take for example Yasuo, he has a strong lane phase if he is a good player, it's part of his identity. And in the past, late game ap carries DID squash him. But here is the new problem.

TODAY a full item yasuo, has just as much damage/late game threat as a late game Ryze or Azir

Now lets look at another scenario with Ryze, Ryze if played right, is A DISGUSTING lane bully, who removes all forms of counter play. One would say "counter the ryze by playing a early game lane bully", but how do you do that, when Ryze himself can be a early game lane bully.

I dont know how this happened but I use to compare champions to clocks. Why?

For every champion in this game had a point where they turned on and carried, and a point in where they turned off and became less effective.

Examples

Yasuo/Lucian=The mid game kings Twitch/Ryze=The Late game kings Miss Fortune/Renekten=The Early game kings/queen

However if you look at all six of those champions, All six of them have the ability in the modern meta, to be strong at ALL points of the game, early through late.

I have no clue how it happened, champions use to have key moments in when they were strong and when they were weak, but now it seems like certain champions are strong at all points of the game despite their orignal identity linked to certain phases of the game.

I believe the cause of this is riot worked to hard to remove the term

"late game carry" or "early game carry" and is now trying to turn everyone into a relevant champion into all phases of the game.

To be honest, I am completely for this, but the problem with this, is that it makes the champions who haven't been fixed yet, incredibly weak.

Azir being one of them.

How did your play support your jungler? Some say this is more important than before, where one would ask what they did to support you.

10 games is a very small sample size. My ten provisional games on my main were terrible. They have been fine since then.
