I really like how Jhin is designed.

(this post is not about balance, but kit design much like my fiora one) He's the epitome of a sniper. High amounts of damage on the bullets/abilities but fairly long cooldowns, much like a snpier in real life has to reload before shooting again. His abilities are all fairly unique. His passive is essentially trigonometry, his Q is a point and click that still takes skill to land if you want max damage, his W is a great utility and sniping tool, his E is a unique trap (unlike other ones Teemo Caitlyn it allows you to walk out of it), and his ult is simply amazing. His ult allows for a lot more counterplay than people give it, you can dodge, block, and walk out of the range of the bullets. It leaves him vulnerable while he his ulting so good positioning is rewarded.

Don't even get me started on his VO and visual effects. Killing someone with him just looks beautiful(as it should).

Good on you rito, you made a well designed champion. Now im just waiting for duskblade to be meelee only ;-;

I'd play him more but i suck ass at csing kiting orbwalking landing abilities playing league

damn, im not good at a lot of stuff. oh well time to play more Teemo and Soraka

Actually he's good to learn orbwalking on, because of how slow he attacks.

That's the point. I play league for fun, not for ranked.

I have a friend who tells me that he plays league matches "so he is always learning something." I tell him that I play this game to, you know, have fun. He seemed shocked. I just don't get some people anymore.

Thanks! Both WaarghBobo, myself, and other members of the Jhin pod saw this thread and really appreciate your comments.

Means a lot to see that you guys are enjoying our favorite artistic-assassin-carry-mage-support-murder-guy

I too am really happy with how the R turned out. The damage may be tuned a bit high, but I think the overall feel of "you're being pinned by a sniper" has shaped up pretty well for both playing as and against.

Keep on sniping!

P.S. i really hope azir get's reworked, i saw the post about azir needing reworks and yes.

His q is his only ability that can be considered short, and well he kind of needs it to be. I mean he needs it for trading since his e is avoidable especially if you don't have time to set it up and the w has a 14 second cool down and sometimes needs a buddy to have much value other then a lackluster w attempt.

Don't make duskblade meelee only, other champs use it: Quinn Jayce Draven Twitch

Marshbouy20 votes

none of them should be able to use it.

apparently.

I like Duskblade on a Marksman sometimes myself, but it seems that it is still better on an Assassin. You will weaken your champion's effectiveness against groups of enemies by buying Duskblade, so I personally think it's fair. Sure, if he hits minions 3 times and then a champion a 4th then the Duskblade really packs a wallop, but as players have mentioned in other comments, that will leave him vulnerable while he's reloading.

I actually haven't managed to finish buying a Runaan's Hurricane as Jhin yet. Everytime I try we have won the game or lost it before I could get to that point, but I'm curious as to how good it is on him. Some people may not like getting attack speed on him, but since it can translate into movement speed I think it's fine. I still have to do the math though on raw movement speed versus attack speed that converts into movement speed.

Astôlfo1 votes

Runaan's is good for waveclear, but Statikk Shiv does pretty much the same thing, and come mid/late game, the Shiv proc + his Q + autos is enough to decimate waves. Runaan's is pretty much useless otherwise, while Shiv proc damage on champs is still good.

SanKakU1 votes

Well I haven't played enough games with him to know if Shiv would be useful on him but so far I haven't had a problem with tanks(but it's pretty rare to see tanks if you're not even playing ranked I guess...mostly people just play assassins) with him. Having a magic damage option in the form of Shiv would be nice, but I might be tempted to build even more attack speed and movement speed in addition to it if I'm really scared of some high armor enemy like a Rammus or a Malphite or whatever...since I don't know what else I can do to kill them so I might as well do a little poke and keep on moving you know?

Astôlfo1 votes

I mean I was telling you that Shiv is better than Runaan's as someone who plays Jhin extremely often.

SanKakU1 votes

I don't see how it's better since they do different things. One does magic damage the other does physical damage.

Astôlfo1 votes

Because Runaan's is better on someone who can continuously attack full-speed nonstop to continuously keep shooting the additional two bolts. Jhin has four shots and then a break of 2.5 seconds he can't do anything about. He might as well run up and shoot a wave and nearly instantly kill it with said Shiv proc from running/poke someone with said Shiv proc.

SanKakU1 votes

It might depend more on your keystone and runes. If you have hybrid penetration runes, then it would make sense to take Thunderlord's Decree I suppose because you could also take Precision for even more penetration in magic damage. Then you get Shiv because you can make a lot more punch with it with all that magic penetration.

I don't use that setup myself but I might if I had to play him in top or mid lane. So far nobody has asked me to and right now I tend to have a lot more fun playing Tanks in those positions. Do you buy AP sometimes? Don't his traps scale with AP like Jinx's? Just wondering. A Hextech Gunblade might be a legit item on him I suppose. Getting a small amount of life back for your Shiv damage would be nice.

Also I don't consider Jhin to be taking a break while he's reloading...he can still use Q and W while that's going on. He also kind of needs to be running around with that movement speed boost.

Astôlfo1 votes

But Jhin has like almost no magical damage to the extent of memory. Shiv proc by itself is still strong. His traps scale with AD and AP both and do magic damage, but actually getting traps on people for damage is inconsistent.

SanKakU1 votes

I thought if you buy magic damage you'd want to make sure it's worth it instead of just encouraging opponents to build MR against you and it multiplies as protection against your allies that are primarily magic damagers.

If you had for example a Zed on your team...he does zero magic damage, isn't that right? So maybe it makes more sense to build yourself as a Hybrid Damager so that the opponents don't amass armor to neutralize you both at the same time.

So you can discourage your opponents from building armor or you'll punish them for countering the Zed as with a lot of Magic Damage you may still be a threat. Well, that's the idea but I guess you could always just pick an arguably more appropriate champion for that.

Astôlfo1 votes

Yeah but I mean buying AP on him is worthless.

bill843 votes

But why not? You can maybe argue that Draven and jhin abuse it, but quinn jayce and twitch could all be considered assassin so I see no reason why they cannot use it.

Marshbouy8 votes

None should be able to use it as in meelee attacks only. If they applies to jayce or not i don't know. A ranged champion should not be able to place a zed ult on you. nuff said.

bill842 votes

That is not a reason, being ranged does not make a huge difference for this item because if you want to get a useful proc out of it, you have to all in anyways or you just waste it a quinn assassinates people just as much as a rengar or something so why should she be at the disadvantage of not being able to use this?

Marshbouy12 votes

Because she is ranged carry. They should not be allowed to deal sustained damage and burst at range.

bill842 votes

Azir Corki Graves Heimerdinger Taliyah

Marshbouy4 votes

Mage/marksman that got nerfed for that exact reason Corki, lower sustained damage compared to most ADCs Graves almost needs to be meelee heimerdinger needs setup and the turrets can be killed. taliyah is burst...

bill841 votes

Taliyah has plenty of sustained damage from her q, but back to my point.

Duskblade is an item that was designed for people who burst with AD. Anyone who bursts at AD. Being ranged makes no difference because it does not increase the effectiveness in any way, it helps melee just as much as it does ranged.

Marshbouy4 votes

But it should not be a ranged item. Too many ADCs are being effective with the item, i'd be fine if it was 1 or two, but when it's draven, jhin, ashe, twitch, quinn, and sometimes MF, that's way too many.

It does increase the effectiveness though. It gives ranged champions a DAT (damage after time) effect that gives them burst.

Anyway, RIOT said they would make it meelee only if it got out of hand on ADCs

KoKoboto1 votes

With that logic I guess Jhin should be removed from the game.

Marshbouy5 votes

yeah cause he has great sustained damage and tower shred. right.

CeexSett1 votes

Quinn doesn't have that much DPS really, it's much more burst oriented.

Marshbouy2 votes

she has auto attacks. Building her AD, AS, and crit like normal will give her damage on those autos.

KoKoboto5 votes

A range champion who relies on auto attacks would rarely get to use the item efficiently because of the fact they gotta deal with auto attacking the front line. This reason alone makes it not great and buying the item severely takes away from a ranged champion's ability to deal with tankier champions.
