Dynamic Queue is practically Elo Boosting that is legal, in it's current state. Riot needs to fix it's matchmaking system first, made competitive play a lot more unbalanced with pre-made parties in every ranked game.

"Practically"?

It's literally Elo boosting.

Jorencice3 votes

Lol. Play with my freinds and tell yourself that.

I know 1 challenger and 20 bronze 5s.

Don't matter how good he is 1 challenger isn't carrying 4 bronze 5s to diamond.

Misery Signal9 votes

He can do one at a time.

DrCyanide20 votes

He could do that last year too.

He could do that last year too.

What's this, logic??? Hisssss

Also, anyone wanna tell me where this whole "Dynamic = elo boosting" when a) you could do this in previous seasons and b) elo boosting is when someone, who isn't the account creator, hops onto an account to gain elo. When did the criteria change and why is this misinformation being spread?

Rian3 votes

a) The fact you could do it last season doesn't make it any better. The difference is, now you can do it with more friends and this is simply more effective. b) Oh you are one of those guys... lets see... oh i know... It wasn't called "eloboosting" it was called "legal eloboosting". That's totally different get your facts straight... is what I would say if I would be an ingnorant asshole. But let me say it this way instead: I'm pretty sure you and everyone else here, knows the meaning. What's the point in distacting whith useless word correction even if you were rigth?

In my opinion this whole problem would be obsolete in a few weeks if we had two different mmr. If you play with friends you get matched with your "teamranked"-mmr(2-5 player) and if you play solo you get matched with your "solo"-mmr, simple as that. Roit don't even need to reset mmr or something because it would balance over time.

If you get mixed with premades it counts for "team"-mmr. The only thing is there need to be a guaranteed % of solo only games. Another positive side effect is you actually know what kind of game you are playing. Personally it is very important to me to know if there are premades or not.

In addition there could be and overall "skill"-mmr calculated from both team and normal ranked depending on games played in each category. Not for matchmaking though just something visible like the rank you are in global stat.

KillerKell1 votes

You do realize that Duo, Trio, Quad and Penta Groups all get bumped to match Higher Elo if the other team doesn't have an equal 'group' with them, right?

So it forces the team with the 'advantage' of having Team Mates grouped to play into 5 Solos who are better as Individuals over all.

That's the entire trade off, you trade Communication and Familiarity for them being Higher Elo when you face them.

Rian1 votes

Nice try but I can already see two problems here. First: how do you want to calculate the mmr value of communication? Second: Whith the changes for level gain it's easier than ever to create smurf accounts and push your friends. You can't ballance games between premade and solo players, because premades have more "tools" they can work with.

Karn Bishop1 votes

Good thing nobody asked for a new solo Q for individuals right? good thing it wasn't promised either followed by attempting to delete original promises on an official page.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Id be amazed if he could get even one into diamond tbh. After a certain point your opponents will at least not feed the challenger. The bronze will just feed harder and harder.

TotalJerk8 votes

He'll definitely carry them to Gold at the least.

RISE Shlack1231 votes

Yup, and there are a TON of boosted Goldies out there. It's really, really annoying.

KillerKell1 votes

And when he decides he doesn't want to be stuck at Gold... what happens to those he carried? They fall, right? Back to where they belong, and since they are so outclassed the fall likely will be swift.

Vistha Kai1 votes

Except Riot caters to weaker players.

First, your MMR needs to be a whole tier lower than your current to get demoted from Division 5. Two, you get a free win for playing promo a second time, so you may stay in your current league with even lower winrate.

KillerKell1 votes

And what Win Rate can a Bronze Scrub expect to keep in Diamond?

20%? 30%?

He WILL fall, and will fall all the way back to where he actually belongs. Now maybe he picked up some things while being carried, so instead of falling all the way to Bronze he stops at Silver, but that is because he's now Silver Capable. He won't be able to Carry a group of Weaker Players, and he'll hinder the Teams he's on at a Higher Level enough that he will get regulated back to where he now belongs.

He won't maintain enough to stay to where he was carried.

Vistha Kai1 votes

It'd require dozens of lost games to get demoted.

That's hundreds of people who had their game ruined.

Only Play Darius6 votes

But he can get them to Gold

Vistha Kai2 votes

Boosting them to Silver alone undermines the very idea of matchmaking.

Personally I've been Plat 1 at my peak and it was extremely easy for me to get out from Bronze circa 3 to Gold 5. I can only imagine how easy it is for actual Diamonds or Challengers.

Well, being Plat 1 is as good as Diamond 4, considering to get demoted from Diamond 5 you need to be as bad as Platinum 5, that is.

Jorencice1 votes

What does it matter though?

The only rank that matters is your.

I've yet to see one person prove that dynamic que is holding them back.

The one person that made a huge thread about being held back due to enemy quad ques is actually higher than he's been ever. And he's been playing since season 1.

Stop being envious of other people's rank and simply work on yours.

Vistha Kai4 votes

It does matter, believe it or not.

I've had a day where for 4 games in a row I was literally playing mid lane 1v3 aganist 3 or 4 man premades, while some Gosu Vayne was winning bot lane solo in one of those games.

If that isn't because of Dynamic Queue, then I don't know what is.

Baron Von Bangin3 votes

Elo boosting is when another person plays on your account for you to raise your rank, in lieu of you actually playing the game.

So no, not quite literally.

Karn Bishop2 votes

Elo boosting = getting your rank boosted to a level that you yourself cannot be competitive in let alone win matches, and sure eventually the rank will drop but how many matches will that ruin in the meantime?

Auroramancer2 votes

Except it's literally not.

MMR Boosting (Match Making Rating, also known as Elo Boosting) is an act where a player (The Booster) logs into another player's account (The Boostee) with the specific purpose of improving the boostee account's MMR.

So players being boosted to levels they shouldn't be in due to being able to queue with more than one person isn't Riot's technical term for it, so it's therefor not boosting?

What else would you call someone being boosted to a MMR they don't belong, or playing with someone significantly better with the goal in mind to have your MMR climb a bunch, (be boosted) exactly?

Dynamic queue helps boost people, even if it isn't Riot's definition of boosting.

You do not need to get on someone's account to elo boost, all you needed to do was duo queue with them, with this system you can triple or quadra queue.

Auroramancer2 votes

You keep using your own term for "boosting", despite Riot, the owner of the game and the creator of the guidelines of said game, contradicts your definition of "boosting".

What most people call what you are calling "boosting", they just call it "carried".

It's not even close.

Here is why.

You have a 5 Man Team. 4 are really good, 1 is being carried.

The 4 have two options, eventually get stuck LOWER than they should be... being Elo STALLED... to prop the 5th. OR drop the 5th so the 4 can continue to Rise, in which case the 5th will fall from grace quickly back to where he actually belongs.

When 4 people have to sacrifice their Elo for 1 person to temporarily gain Elo, that's not really Boosting. The guy being 'boosted' is going to crash back down where he belongs once he's dropped, OR the 4 are never going to advance to where they should be.

To which I ask... would YOU be one of the 4? I wouldn't. I don't know many that would.

People always tend to forget that the guy being carried is ALSO weighing down the guys doing the carrying... and negatively affects 4 while only 'benefiting' 1... and that benefit only lasts as long as they are willing to be held down for his ego.

Zedex1 votes

Its not unbalanced, bro. You get a 4 man pre-made with you, they get a 4-man pre-made, its all very simple.

And if you can honestly tell me that you've had a lot of matches where you had no pre-mades and they did, you're obviously not very perceptive in noticing pre-mades, because the way the current system works, there is the smallest chance imaginable for Matchmaking to fart, and place you against someone you don't deserve. One or two of these times, sure, its annoying. But the way you're complaining about pre-made parties in every game (as if it ruins it? Seems like someone has no friends and/or only likes playing alone for some reason) you're acting as if the matchmaking is broken and unbalanced. Its just not.

Making smurfs and queueing with friends is nothing new. The difference here is you're actually complaining about it now, whereas before you didn't give a shit for some odd, White Knight reason.

I've been finding 90% of the time this is someone in my bot lane that goes 0/10 by 15 mins.

I find the feeders more in top and mid. Top tries the cheesy shit they get away with in premade play like BOTRK rush Talon and don't understand why they are feeding Darius, mid used to having their jungler camp them so blames the jungler when they are killed 1v1

Divewing1 votes

I've found mid to be kinda the opposite, where me or my laner is losing to the other guy and his babysitter

Lauchmelder5 votes

Let's assume they actually got boosted from silver to Diamond, wouldn't that be the fault of bad players up until diamond? The silver isn't good enough to be a big factor in the game and the other player/s won several 4v5s to get him to that rank. I doubt that anything below Diamond 1 would be capable of carrying that much.

Just play as 4man and stomp full solo teams?

Oh I do, it still doesn't matter.

No, you don't.

A booster will absolutely crush almost every game. It will not be the fault of the opposing team not being good enough, it's the fault of the boosting being an insane standard above the account he's using.

Lauchmelder2 votes

Try again

Rook Loux1 votes

Ok so everyone involved starts with a bronze account, 4 of whom are D3 on their mains. 4 D3 ppl are most certainly going to be able to bring a bronze player to at least plat. He's then going to think he's good enough to go out on his own but will end up feeding and ruining other ppls games. It's just not fair for the ppl who deserve their rank based on their skill as opposed to their friends skill.

Lauchmelder1 votes

You are complaining about freelo.

Apply the common toxicity/AFK - law: Your team has 4 people that might AFK/be toxic, the enemy team has 5. You will get freelo more often than you lose ELO due to boosted players.

Rook Loux1 votes

This has nothing to do with what i said

Lauchmelder2 votes

And your post had nothing to do with what I said. Your point being?

But I get it. It's either "agree with the ignorant mob" or "get downvoted to oblivion because your opinion is sh!t". Sadly my opinion is the opinion of the main playerbase and the ones complaining are simply the VOCAL majority. Sucks to be them.

Rook Loux1 votes

You claim it's the fault of ppl in lower elo because they can't beat the higher elo players playing in lower elo. If you are a 5 man of silver players going against a 5 man of 4 D3s and a silver then you will lose. My comment had relevance, yours did not.

Dealing with more and more people who feed lane. In premades they don't get punished for it because they can coordinate later on with friends or have buddies camp them. Solo play they are incompetent and blame the jungler for not camping them (because that's what they're used to)

dynamic q is LITERRALY KILLING THIS GAME

TotalJerk1 votes

This actually happens with players who legitimately climb to diamond. It's so hard to get demoted that a lot of people just stop giving a shit when they get the rank they want. This is actually a huge part of why the NA competitive scene is in such bad shape compared to Korea. Pros have to practice with people who just dick around most games because they've built up so much LP that they only have care when it's critically low.

Only Play Darius1 votes

Is this why low Diamond is considered elo hell? Because people don't get demoted even after losing multiple games at 0 LP? Why give protection to people who don't give a shit about climbing?

Handin Out Naps2 votes

You do get demoted after awhile, just takes a good portion of games, but honestly same can be said for every 5th division of a rank.

TotalJerk2 votes

This is what the "V" division of every rank is like. You pretty much have to be playing two whole tiers below to get demoted below them. To get demoted from Plat V you have to play as bad as a Silver player.
