Let Aatrox Proc Lifesteal With Blood Price!

OyddAWqJ5r··71 votes·4,657 views

Currently, Blood Price's cost is deceivingly higher than it actually is on any Aatrox that has built lifesteal (which all do even if it's 1 item).

Why? Because Blood Price's bonus damage is the only form of bonus physical damage in the game that doesn't proc lifesteal. It's already dangerous for him to use Blood Price due to the self cost and the lack of W heal but unknowingly to some it costs even more due to all the extra physical damage that you aren't benefiting the effects of lifesteal from.

Please make this small QoL change (QoL buff) to help make him slightly more viable and reinforce his riskier W option.

Edit: So there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding here. This doesn't give him a costless W. This simply makes that extra 60-200 (+1.0 Bonus AD) bonus damage grant the 10-15% lifesteal that any Aatrox builds, including tanky ones. Almost every single one has a BotRK or a Hydra. This change simply makes you heal an extra little 9-30 (+0.15 Bonus AD) on Blood Price if you have lifesteal (this example being at 15% LS). (Based on skill rank)

This almost doesn't affect laning phase at all. If Aatrox builds a Doran's Blade then he gets 3% lifesteal on Blood Price's damage, healing him for 1.8/2.805/3.81 (+0.03 Bonus AD) (rank 1/2/3). Hardly anything. Just 2-4 extra health on Blood Price for levels 1-5.

Another Edit: Apparently his isn't the only one that acts like this. Just one of the very few. Also for the people comparing it to J4: J4 does % health. There's probably a story behind why it doesn't work with LS anymore. I really don't see why it shouldn't anymore though with how tame lifesteal is nowadays (since that was probably to accomodate for s1 or s2 where lifesteal was given in godlike amounts).

This would be a really good, logical change, for a champ that needs a little buff.

DUDE BRO3 votes

He needs buffs for sure, but I don't think just upping his damage (he can keep price on for longer since it won't hurt as much) is the right way to buff him. I'd prefer something like the master Yi rework that gives him more utility rather than just jump in and kill or be killed.

Might be cool if blood price applied a 0.5 second slow, or remove slows on him, so he could stay in range of his target at the cost of health. Possibly even smooth out that wonkey jump arc.

MasterVidallis1 votes

That's a pretty indirect and minor damage buff... it's a buff to his lifesteal and survivability, which fits his identity as a lifesteal fighter.

So what your saying is...you want Blood Price to be...less pricey?

I think what he wants is to buff fighter/carry Aatrox. I agree that Aatrox does need a buff, but definitely not on his w. I feel like the way to go is to make his q so it can't be interrupted and resets on kill or assist. I think this would be strong enough to help him get back on his feet.

Dorans Hat1 votes

I'll take the uninterruption but the reset would be op.

More or less. The issue isn't the price moreso the additional removal of lifesteal on the damage. As stated, it is the only bonus physical damage in the game that does not proc lifesteal.

If this change happened it would simply mean Aatrox is benefitting from that ~15% lifesteal on Blood Price to heal him for ~9/14.25/19.5/24.75/30 (+0.15 Bonus AD).

As you can see it is hardly "priceless" as the lifesteal only covers a % of it based on how much lifesteal you have. It still costs 15/23.75/32.5/41.25 /50 (+25% bonus AD)

Captain Aishi8 votes

He wants lifesteal to make it a Blood Discount... :D but honestly i just looked it over, there are like 20 champions with physical damage modifiers on hit (not taking double strikes like shyvana Q and master yi's passive) that apply lifesteal, and only aatrox W and jarvan's passive (i think) that do not benefit from lifesteal

Zair Umbras1 votes

Each of them has a different kind of physical damage modifier though. They all have it as a button to be pressed, with the exception of Yi and J4.

This is an issue with passives in general though. It's the fact that some count as On-Hit effects and others PROC On-Hit effects. Like the damage from Teemo's E does not proc Vamp or LS because it's considering an On-Hit effect and does not PROC effects.

It could be fixed, but it would be a bit hard. As of this moment, there's only 3 champions that PASSIVELY gain a boost to their AA's as Physical damage. Yi, j4, and Aatrox. Yi's is the ONLY one that doesn't give him bonus damage though. His passive makes the AA split into two, doing the same as a normal AA, but proc'ing on-hits twice. His passive is honestly just to double proc on-hits like Shiv, his Q's passive, his E, and BotRK and such. J4's passive gives him a boosted damage, but it's considered an on-hit effect much like one would consider a BotRK to be. It doesn't make his AA do the base damage AND the percent of current, it simply adds current health. Yes, it's in the wording. Seriously. lol.

If Aatrox's W said it makes the AA do <Total AD> plus a Base and <Ratio>, then it would proc LS like everything else since his ATTACK would've been changed to do all that damage rather than it being Every 3rd attack, his AA will do so much bonus. You can even look at Jax's W. It will proc SPELL VAMP and RYLAI's and not Life Steal. LS will only affect the BASE attack, not the boosted damage from Empower. Some could say, 'Oh, it's Magic damage, that's why'. Incorrect. Nid's cougar Q procs on-hit affects now and will not benefit from Vamp and neither will Poppy's because it states that it does the total AD with the attack.

When it comes down to it, you have to understand the AA is either a spell, an On-Hit Effect, or an actual AA. Teemo, Varus, Kog, Vayne, and Aatrox have On-Hit Effects. Nidalee, Poppy, Talon, Draven, and Renekton have actual AA's. Poor Jax has a Spell attached to his W, as does Gragas, but Gragy at least works with it.

If you have to cast it, it'll proc LS or it'll proc Vamp. If you don't have to press ANYTHING at all and it just PASSIVELY adds boosted damage to your ability, then it procs nothing. The only exception to this rule is Kog's W where it's casted, but the secondary damage is an on-hit effect. Kennen's W is also an exception... for some reason. It's considered an On-Hit effect, but it.. procs vamp and Rylai's.

Only issue I have with Aatrox's W proc'ing LS is the fact that Teemo's E, Varus's W, Kog's W, and TF's E would need to be changed to proc one or the other. Vayne can stay at gaining nothing. It's bad enough Cho and Nunu can get a hextech revolver and gain large amounts of health with true damage.

Captain Aishi1 votes

it's basically the difference between being an on-hit effect and being an ability that applies on-hit effects (like ez and gp Qs) you're right about everything but poppy, her Q turns her autoattack into a spell, applying spellvamp but not lifesteal, it's coded in reverse of every other autoattack modifier in the game for some reason

Zair Umbras1 votes

Poppy is... awkward. It does in fact apply LS, but it's the same as Jax's. It's REALLY weird. It applies LS and Vamp. The AA itself does LS, but the BONUS damage (The base and the 8% health) does Vamp. It's so weird that both Jax's W and Poppy's Q can also CRIT, but the BONUS damage can't crit.

Sightless661 votes

It's so weird that both Jax's W and Poppy's Q can also CRIT, but the BONUS damage can't crit.

That's not really weird. Most on-hit effects and autoattack modifiers don't have the bonus damage benefit from crit. For pretty much all of them, the autoattack can crit, and then the autoattack modifier is applied afterwards. Draven axes, Nasus Q, Vayne Q, Blitzcrank E, etc. Having the bonus damage not crit is pretty standard.

supes the lost2 votes

I can tell you there was a time where Nasus Q stacks were part of the crit damage calculation, If you give me time to find the video, I'll post it and you can see the nightmare of crit nasus.

Edit: Found it https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=85&v=urPH_AOESNA

Enjoy

I loved those videos. I remember that one big Nasus player discovering the bug, getting flamed for his build, then proving it was stupidly OP by oneshotting the guy flaming him. Very funny.

supes the lost1 votes

Thanks, this video was my personal favorite of crit Nasus since the sej was flaming him near the beginning and after he starts one-shotting champs and three-shotting baron where she starts bragging on all-chat.

Sightless661 votes

Oh, that's some nostalgia right there. Thanks for the video.

Yi's passive doesn't split his auto attack into two to do the same damage overall as one auto. You do 100% damage from your first strike followed by 50% of your total AD on the second one.

"Every 4th consecutive autoattack, Master Yi strikes twice. The second strike deals 50% of Master Yi's AD, but fully applies on-hit effects and can critically strike."

Zair Umbras1 votes

That it does! I don't use Yi often anymore really. It's been a whiiiiiiiiile.

DisasterSola4 votes

Can we make his W give every third AA bonus attack damage instead? So it works on turrets?

What Is Smite3 votes

use blood thirst on turrets when you reach the 3rd AA animation you will take the turret faster (non-ulted) due to the shorter and faster animation of the 3rd proc for blood thrist

THEJJSLAY1 votes

Really I thought it was the opposite tbh :o

Matezoide3 votes

I see nothing wrong with that. AAtrox could use some love.

DirkTarTar3 votes

I feel like his W doesn't really need an overhaul like what the OP suggested, maybe just a performance buff (raising ratios/base/whatever)

I feel like one of his biggest problems is that without his passive he is worthless not because he loses the ability to revive, but because he loses his AS boost. Maybe his abilities should have an increased effect while his passive is down, making him reasonably useful even without his passive? Or maybe kills or assists should reduce the timer on his passive by 5-10 seconds (similar to Katarina)?

His Ult I feel is the key to fixing Aatrox... if he had a .5 second stun (similar to Riven's W) that applied to champions, then it would make his Ult feel more massive rather than "I'm here, oh wait.. i'm dead"

In play Aatrox would combo his Jump knockup to his Ult for a decent CC chain so he can smack people around with his pimp sword before he explodes in the aftermath

This.

Fucking this.

riot just needs to flat out do something about aatrox he doesnt really fit his theme at all and the only time he did was when he first came out and no one knew how to play against him but happens with every new champs which is disappointing in aatroxs case :/

DJ Di02 votes

Didn't even know it couldn't benefit from lifesteal. Don't see why he couldn't get this buff, he's not exactly pick or ban atm.

12ocky13alboa2 votes

His W does need some looking at .... If he drops below half health u are almost forced to use Blood thirst ... It's a toggle but it's no brainer. It almost doesn't have functionality like Old Ashe toggle. The ability should become more interesting. Or at least less binary.

Midder Scray2 votes

I think it'd be interesting to see them change Aatrox's Blood Price to something like Nasus and Veigar's Q abilities. It starts off doing a certain amount of damage, and when you kill minions/monsters/champions, it goes up a little more each time

I know there are some flaws in this, like this would get EXTREMELY overpowered since there's no cool down and it's only every third hit, but I'm sure someone could think of something to tone it down a bit

DirkTarTar1 votes

please no more infi-scaling champs :(

Woken Spectre 2 votes

Good idea, here's my upvote. Playing Aatrox too i also feel like the Q should have a faster animation, a 4 year old child can interrupt it so easily it becomes ridiculous. And also they sould make the E hit the target when you are stuck to it, because it just feels stupid when you sacrifice 5% of your actual health to see the guy dodging your E without having to do anything..

Juggernaut N2 votes

He actually doesn't even proc the lifesteal on his auto attack when bloodprice is on which is stupid. They should atleast change that. If that sounded confusing basically what it means is when blood price is activated his lifesteal is zero on his third attack.

Schlachsahne761 votes

I think his W is his most balanced spell. W is super strong and completly ok. I think Aatrox needs buffs but not on his W.

Ace Access 2 votes

I somewhat agree to a point, i was thinkin maybe have some mr/armor scale on his passive a small amount per level, something like wukongs maybe.

So you are saying we need to give him a nuke every 3rd attack where he can build lifesteal on it and obliterate people? Are we talking about aatrox here or jax?

Do we just attach the word "nuke" to every damage source now? Is that a thing?

Captain Aishi2 votes

funny thing is, in league the term nuke used to refer to a projectile skillshot that is destroyed upon contact with the first enemy hit (aka ahri charm, etc.)

What Is Smite1 votes

Pretty sure that Blood Price does Proc Lifesteal since all it is, is an AA enhancement meaning it is an auto attack that procs the lifesteal effect and not the ability. The ability is there to provide extra damage/heal (blood price/thrist)

But what he's asking for is for the bonus damage on blood price to add to the lifesteal. It would make logical since.

As an Aatrox main, I highly agree with this. I would like to see something else done to his W too, as he pretty much will only use Blood Thirst because the cost is not worth the extra damage on Blood Price.
