Crazy idea for reworking AD champs and crit

What if we changed all Assassin, almost all ADCs, and all other AD bruisers scalings around?

Assassins only have bonus AD scalings.

Almost all ADCs have only bonus AD scaling(few exceptions could be Ashe W or Draven Q) and made it so crit scales on bonus AD?

For example what if crit did bonus damage based on your bonus AD? What if crit does 300% bonus AD on top of your autos(so if on live a Draven with 400 total AD would crit for 800, with this change he would have 300 bonus AD which would make his crits deal 1000 damage)?

AD bruisers and tanks could have their spells and abilities be changed to total AD scalings to make changes, I'll use Darius as an example.

Let's say his new ult does 100% total AD at 5 stacks instead of 150% bonus AD. If we use his current scaling live without any bonus AD from anything besides his passive he will deal 900 damage at 5 stacks. I cant remember his base AD at level 18 so let's use 100. If his passive isn't changed for the steroid his ult would deal at 5 stacks 900 damage at 300 total AD(base stats plus the steroid from his passive). Say the Darius had 100 bonus AD before the steroid and got 300 bonus AD with, his ult would deal 1050 damage if my math is correct. Now if we had the total AD scaling and he had 400 total AD(god forbid) and ulted he would deal 1000 damage.

What does this even do you might ask? Well not only can it make balancing a little easier for Bruisers, Assassins, True Tanks, and ADCs but it will make it unable for Assassins and ADCs to be able to abuse Bruiser items as much as their damage takes a massive nose dive without bonus AD.

All of these ideas might not be great, none of them, or they might all sound great, I want to hear your opinion on this idea!

Never really thought of applying crit to ability ratios.

I'm not sure what you're describing really works mathematically though.

A 50+100% total AD skill and a 150+100 bonus AD skill are both treated the exact same way by items, the former just grows into the exact same thing as a 150+100% bonus AD skill with 100 base AD @18.

Whatever skill has the biggest %AD scaling will scale the hardest with items, which isn't something you can change by shifting bonus or total AD around.

Total AD just allows for smoother scaling while leveling up.

Bruisers and Tanks should really just scale damage with HP instead of AD or AP.

If Riot is going to balance defense, mobility, and range against one-another in regards to fighters, assassins, mages, and marksman while allowing all 4 archetypes to deal roughly equal damage: it would make a lot of sense to set up HP, AD, and AP in a similar fashion to your Strength, Agility, and Intellect dynamics from a wide range of fantasy games. It would probably also clear a lot of things up. Having itemization split between defense and offense doesn't make a whole lot of sense when tanky DPS is a class (even though aesthetically it's fairly obvious getting booped with a great axe or great sword is going to hurt a lot).

As-is trying to force the majority of fighters and assassins into the same primary damage stat as marksman doesn't make much sense if the builds of all 3 are intended to be very different.

Crit is an interesting place to look to try to change them, but I'm not sure if there's an elegant way to do that.
