Anybody else feel like champions are super fast now?

Pyrithegethon··100 votes·5,213 views

Ever since runic echoes and the ADC item rework it has been standard seeing almost everybody have 400+ movespeed.

I play vs Gragas, Udyr, Elise, and Zacs with 440 movespeed with runic echoes+swiftness with alacrity.

It's so bad that immobile champs that cant make use of the items are left in the dust as they just can't keep up.

Is this being addressed at all?

Mobility creep in the game is starting to get pretty ridiculous.

Some seem fast, while others don't.

Yesterday I was Garen with my Q, Swiftness boots, and Dead Man's Plate and I couldn't even get close to a solo Jihn. He didn't CC me at all, he just walked away really fast by critting me.

Definitely makes me worried when Riot talks about Dead Man's Plate being too strong, and it's not even enough speed to catch someone like Jihn.

EDIT: Plus I use movement speed quints...

Unfortunately having so much constant movement speed after a point is considered "immobile" when you're range, yet Riot considered Garen to be mobile/sticky. I don't even know why Riot is slapping movement speed on everything, Deadman's is popular because movement speed is strong, and it's the only item tanks/bruisers have that give movement speed. Adcs have zeal items, any bursty ad has Duskblade, mages have Ludens/Lich and now for jungling there is Runic Echoes. Although, unlike Deadman's these items give movement speed regardless of the situation and doesn't go away when you attack or get cced. Even the other tanky item that gives move speed, zzrot/ohmwrecker, is situational.

My problem is I don't want to use Deadman's, but more and more it feels like a requirement. As a melee player I have to be able to close the gap, and yet it's harder to do that without investing into speed items. Sometimes, like the game I mentioned above, it feels like the only way I can do anything is if my flash is up.

I do understand Garen is not exactly an initiator, but in a 1v1 situation against a ranged carry who used no CC against me I would think I'd at least be able to deal some damage, given enough space to run them down.

After Kallista I had hoped they would avoid making anyone else who can infinitely kite like that... Hopefully they go through and just slow everything down in a massive patch.

It's generally the same reason I ever buy Deadman's and even now Swifties. I don't want to but I always feel forced to in order to do anything. Especially in the case of Swifties, if the enemy team is buying them I always feel like I have no choice but to or I can't catch anyone or I get destroyed because I couldn't run away quick enough.

I don't know why Riot doesn't understand how powerful movement speed is, it's a stat that functions both in an offensive manner and a defensive manner. They've even given movement speed on an item for champions that were meant to be slow and even had their move speed lowered in the past.

Yeah, but killing someone 3-4 times before they rush it is pretty satisfying if you aren't building it.

Anyone played against Ekko recently, try catching that bastard... EVER!

People were already discussing mobility creep as a problem before we got him... then it was like mobility FUCK YOU EXPLOSION. Even with his numbers lowered hes such a toxic champ. Theyre not going to fix this shit, theyre going to make it worse, they want people spending RP on an arms race of the next FASTER unbalanced champ they release. Its about outclassing the other champs.

We all see people move over in droves to the flavor of the month champ, theyre play rate spike up, some % of those players $BUY$ those champs, so no. More speed, more, faster, gotta be the bestest most fastest...

They have so many champs in the game, they honestly dont even try to balance half of them, they just leave them in the dumpster where theyre not bothering anyone. Then try to semi balance the rest.

So OP, yeah, theyre fast as hell, and its staying that way. Not because you like it, not because I like it, NO, because Rito likes it. Personally many of the champs I play these crazy move speeds are a huge pain. Playing Sion, move speed is almost a hard counter to everything in his kit. Q, move out before you can charge it, W, move away before you can hit me, E skillshot, dodged, R, side steped. HIS PASSIVE, meh, casually walk away from it move speed for the win.

Fond of Karma too, trying to tether people with W even with her E up is hard sometimes, so much move speed in the game.

But dont worry, were getting new champs that outclass the old ones in mobility soon Im sure, for better or worse...probably worse.

I agree; it's pretty much why a bunch of the old mages disappeared from play; they can't catch or escape the clear majority of assassins (and a few carries).

Ekko has 2 ranged aoe slows and a blink; yasou has a spamable dash and an aoe denial on-top of a free shield; zed has a better blink than kassadin as well as insane damage and next to no costs; fizz has a spamable mobile hourglass and a damage amplifier besides ignoring all unit collision; talon has a blink to their blindspot including a free sheen not to mention invisibility and better poke; quin denies them aim with her blind and interupts their spells with her vault.

The list goes on, and that's just the mechanics, items are also significantly against conventional mages while being in favor of assassins. I'm hoping the mage patch buffs them more than the carry patch did; I'm tired of seeing nothing but adcs & assassins every game.

Malzahar Immobile Mage No dashes, no blinks, no speed buffs. Top Win rate in Korea.

Gitgud

EvilMerodach2 votes

Probably because he's good at canceling out mobility. Point and click suppression, area silence to prevent dashes, point and click dot damage that will follow them back if they dash out.

The AoE %hp damage is probably pretty good in the meta, hp stacking is better this season cause BoRK sucks and armor got nerfed.

Lots of items have built in % ms.... Which is so dumb really ... When item 3285 being the start, I understood giving ap champs that naturally are immobile something more... But now fuxking assassins have it, adcs have it, junglers have it, mobility creep is still the cancer that riot tends to play off. And ffs Ekko has a blink and dash on one button... God damn mobility creep... Jhin even has some from his crits rhat he ends up doing a lot late game... Just silly..

its kinda funny people always insta ban immobile champions more than actual mobile champions Soraka as an example

Her healing is ridiculous (Cool down). Ignite is pretty crappy right now with how heal just beats it in every way. Starting to see less and less ignite now.

Impossible to kill the ADC with Soraka and Soraka just hides behind ADC so she won't be in range.

CasterGilgamesh1 votes

she my main and mobile champions shit on her as her only form of getting them off is juking them, or flash a high CD summoner spell or she silences but the silence doesn't stop a zed or talon or yasuo or anyone from giving her one bitch slap and dying.I don't believe in this whole "Mobility creep" as long of people keep banning immobilie champions.Champions like soraka deserve the strengths they get because they are immobile.

only mid laners take ignite for the kill pressure, no other lanes take ignite at all

Interestingly enough Riot started to address this last patch. They nerfed the % movement speed from runic echos(and I think ludens echo) as well as tuned down the speed boost from several boots. They mentioned they'd continue to watch mobility creep. Check it out on the patch notes

Udyr isnt really an immobile champ, if he was then trick2g woudlnt be anywhere near as popular

Chogath feels so bad to play right now

Slamurai Jack2 votes

They've added a lot more MS boosts to the game in the past few years. Homeguards are now free which means anyone can get alacrity on their boots with no downside. Mages now have Ludens, Echoes, and Lich Bane as options for more MS where Twin Shadows used to be the only AP option and was never bought. Multiple Zeal items on adcs are the norm now so they're faster. Dead Man's Plate was added to the game. Righteous Glory was added to the game. Duskblade was added to the game. Black Cleaver was reworked to build from Phage and now has an enhanced rage passive. Swifties were finally made competitive and are now extremely popular.

All in all, there's just a ton more MS available in the game. Too much, imo. The fact that Swifities+Alacrity+Tenacty and Slow resist from Masteries is a common combination is a problem.

Play the racecar veigar build and laugh as you get 480 movement speed with 5 items

Blue Moon Wolf2 votes

Not for me, I keep forgetting to buy item 1001 .__.

Madra2 votes

Items with greater than 5% movement speed should have been restricted to zephyr quality items. Items with flat movement speed increase like deadman's plate never should have been introduced.

Dengeden1 votes

Since everyone has access to MS items, it's fair.

1000angrybees2 votes

that's really more of a false equivalence. It's kind of like saying if everyone has access to medical care it's fair no matter what the price, even if someone is relatively poor and another person is wealthy.

Some champs are already faster and have some sort of gap closer or dash. those that are slow and immobile don't inherently have the same capabilities regardless of MS. Not to mention build paths are always different.

Dengeden1 votes

THAT only works if champions really did have inherent (dis)advantages over others during every stage of the game. If a champion already has mobility, then buying MS shouldn't be as efficient because their dash animations will take just as long. A champion with pre-existing MS boosts will be even more susceptible to slows.

It's mobility creep 2.0

Feathermane1 votes

Nah, just Udyr.

Supreme Senpai691 votes

I play Janna a lot and I find it's very hard to get away. Mostly because of all the gap closers, but there's also a shitload of items or abilities or passives that give almost everyone a way to chase things down.

EvilMerodach1 votes

Wanderer and Explorer masteries did kinda bump ms up across the board. I think those get too little credit for the changes they made to the game.

And considering we're pretty much forced into some form of 18/12 or 18/6/6 tree builds now, pretty much all champs can get 1 or both of those with very little cost to their optimal stats/keystones

Immobile champions can usually get Deadman's and Mages can get Luden's, which is the equivalent to Runic Echoes. It's not really a huge issue for them.

Or are you stating that, due to the movement speed of already mobile classes increasing, immobile being on an even ground in movement speed is making them suffer?
