There is a lot of hate regarding this item being used by midlaners. However I believe it's widespread use has helped to alleviate the burden of the massive cost increase in ap items introduced in the first preseason patch. This item diversifies mid lane and allows players to have more flexibility with itemization and build paths and that's a good thing. Regardless before it's most recent nerf the item was massively overtuned.

But games are shorter. The changes they made were designed with a neutral change in Game time in mind. Except that's clearly not the case. Might explain why they can't get their core items in a timely manor.

Games on average are ending 1 min earlier. While that is a difference it's certainly not a significant as players believe.
