Riot here's the real issue with removing Dominion

First of all I want to make it very clear, I don't play dominion and I didn't use teambuilder either. In this regard I am the prototypical league player. I certainly believe that there are plenty of valid reasons for both of them to be removed. What I take issue with is the lack of communication that these things were being overlooked or a lack of clarity on RIOT's perspective on these aspects of the game.

League of Legends is a community and frankly we need to do what is best for the community. That will never be an invalid argument. But when things are being considered whether to be added or to be removed the community should be made aware well before a decision has been reached. We should not have to read between the lines about RIOT's perspective and their goals. Because as a community we should have the opportunity to offer proactive and constructive feedback rather than being relegated to reactionary (and therefore less thought out) feedback. By relegating all of us to that reactive perspective you are encouraging the more petulant and juvenile arguments to dominate the boards and overall to misrepresent the maturity of the community.

Worse after the removal of both game mods with such short notice, how can we trust that you won't do it again? I saw a Rioter admit that that the removal of dominion was mishandled on a communication level, but admitting that you made a mistake and taking steps to prevent future mistakes are not the same thing. We need to see a commitment to be more transparent and to be more forthcoming with information.

What do you mean "both?" A different queueing system for rift isn't really a different game mode.

Also; as someone who's won more than 200 Dominion games and friggin' loved that mode: I can really see where Riot's coming from. They aren't doing anything poorly on that front, and for anyone that actually played Dominion I doubt the news is at all surprising.

Riot let that ship sink over the last couple of years with a lack of promoting and supporting the map. Granted - the Dominion team was pretty amazing and had it's moments, but most of those are long in the past. With changing the boards and completely removing the Dominion forums section, and with level 1-29 Dominion being overrun with Bots: it was really only a matter of time before Riot had to make a call and hype-up a map they only hyped on release, or send Dominion the same way of URF, all-for-one, doom-bots, etc.

It's pretty obvious which direction they were going to run.

And really: with all the art-assets and custom animations that map has, along with Riot continuing to release pretty embarrassing skins from there early days every December, Dominion is probably going to come back with a lot of pomp and circumstance as a custom mode with acceptable support, a lack of bots, and low queue times for ~1 weeks every year.

What I take issue with is the lack of communication that these things were being overlooked or a lack of clarity on RIOT's perspective on these aspects of the game.

Do you want them to personally mail you approval for everything? I don't think anyone understands how much information is being passed around at Riot on a daily basis, and how insane it is to request that information constantly be relayed at the over reactive community, I mean is it really fair to ask that they randomly be like "Oh, I'm not sure of this idea for a rework, better inform the community that we are deciding this."

As far as I can tell, they have been great at communication, occasional glitch but it's been great. I am concerned for anyone who really is surprised that they announced dominion is going away, I have been waiting for that announcement for years.
