Is Taliyah supposed to be the 'classic' mage we were promised for 2016?
If so i must say that im kind of disappointed. Shes not really a 'classic' mage at all but another roaming mage like Aurelion Sol.

Push & roam is the classic mage pattern...
Actually, she is a bad roamer. outside of her passive when near walls she doesn't have a gap closer( her ult doesn't count cause it looks like it will have 120+ cool down).
that doesn't make her a bad roamer
movespeed is invaluable for covering the map
That would make her a bad ganker at most, not a bad roamer.
Even then, she has enough disruption to pull of ganks.

Ya all classic mages have 2 non combat abilities directly aimed at roaming..... oh wait.
Having dedicated non combat roaming abilities makes your dueling power poor.

1 non combat ability. and even that one is a massive wall blocking off opponents
I remember people saying this about Quinn. She turned out to be such a horrible duelist. Lulz.
She is. We feel roaming is a pretty standard mage thing, given mages generally have access to both strong push and hard CC, both of which are really useful if you're playing in a position where roaming's appropriate (mid lane in particular).
What defines a "classic" mage? Roaming aside, she seems to interact much more strongly with terrain and zone/positioning than most mages. In that way, I think she's the most successful champion design in a long time, on all fronts (gameplay, theme, lore), but I wouldn't really call her "classic" in the way that say, Annie or Brand are "classic" designs.
The framing of a "classic mage" was brought up in a conversation that mentioned that the only mage released in a time had been Azir, who builds AP, but is played primarly via basic attacks (although outsourced ones).
In this specific case, a "classic mage" refers to a champion that builds primarily AP, deals mostly magic damage and interacts with the game mainly through their abilities, rather than autoattacks (Azir) or their passive (Aurelion Sol).
Pretty broad definition, but I'll take it, lol. Thanks!
Are you willing/able to answer questions concerning gameplay?
When I saw 'Traditional Mage' I thought the new champ would have been more like the mages you updated, immobile. Not disappointed at all though, her kit is amazing, definitely my kind of mage.
how do you know shes a mage? she seems fairly tanky in the videos, might be more ap bruiserish

Her reveal mentions Ludens as a good item and the counters nod towards mid lane I suppose, but then top lane would let her use her passive more :P
