Diana vs Ahri

I play Diana a lot, and I see on one website I'm a counter to Ahri, but man, she spends so much mana pre-6. I would like to win fights and trades early in lane against Ahri, but how do I do so effectively? I have been with a Diana on my team before, and she was against a Yasuo, she got first blood, and many kills after that, but I just do not know how she got first blood when she spends so much mana early on. Any help, please?

You're a melee against a ranged champion, Ahri has the advantage pre-6. Start Crystalline Flask if you have to.

Diana should win an all-in at level 6 if she's not too far behind. You're too tanky and Ahri will flat out lose an extended fight. But that's only if Ahri isn't dodging your Q or catching your ultimate with Charm. Remember, you don't get a reset if Lunar Rush fails to connect. Overall, it's a skill match-up favoring Diana.

tl;dr: Play safe and don't get poked to death pre-6.

Honestly this is a fun match up on both parts, comes down to who landed skillshots or dodged them. Honestly diana to me has more dmg lvl 6. But if you take too much poke, you may wanna back or take the risk of Ahri killing you. If you poked her well enough you should be able to burst her. I would say just focus on CS(last hitting) and dodging Ahris orb while standing behind minions so you can't get charmed early on. Build maybe abyssal if your scared of her burst cause she got ahead somehow early on or if its alot of ap on their team. Stay calm & land your Q, you could rush to her and force her ult then you got a fight or her just kiting away.

Don't fight pre 6

You're Diana. You don't win trades early. You're fairly useless before level 6. Just sustain in lane until level 6 and then dump on her.

Start with flash and your first item should be roa.

Yasuo has a larger chance of dying to Diana early on than Ahri does. Ahri is virtually never going to be in range of anything other than your Q until either one of you gets your ult, so your damage over time is going to be fairly low an inefficient. Yasuo has to get a lot closer to farm and trade, so he's much more exposed and more likely to be punished for aggression. Don't feel bad about your teammate getting a kill so early against Yasuo, compared to your matchup against Ahri; those fights simply aren't going to go the same way.

Diana isn't going to do much against Ahri until 6. You're playing a waiting game while trying not to fall too behind in cs or health, and you don't have too much of a reason to expend mana. For the first three or four levels, don't bother casting Q except to keep your mana from capping unless you know you're going to have to back before you can attempt to kill her. Wait until the health spikes from levels start to matter less and come less frequently, and when you're closer to having actual engage against her. Level 6 is your first big opportunity. If you're taking a lot of damage, ask your jungler to take over your lane for a bit (free xp and gold for him, so it's actually beneficial) to heal up and get some AP. When you get into lane, just be mindful of the XP difference and know she might level up mid fight, and be ready to all in her when things are equal or in your favor.
