The Rengar mains discord isn't happy, and people who abused this Rengo to climb aren't happy about it. However, to the rest of us Rengar mains/players we're stoked just to have our beloved Savagery back.
Depth wasn't the problem at all and it never has been. Riot literally listened to none of the feedback from Rengar mains, especially from the Rengar subreddit, with Rioters responding to valid questions with "What's wrong with it?" and being generally difficult deal with. And so sparked the beloved "Q- nice meme" post from a Riot member followed promptly by Riot leaving /r/RengarMains for dead.
To further explain why depth isn't a problem let me just say one thing....this current Rengar most of us Rengar mains/players picked up within the first few days of his PBE release. He's not hard. He has a few niche techniques here and there, but he's not difficult. Not to say that old Rengo wasn't in the same boat, but old Rengar was smoother and felt more rewarding and fun to play. There's nothing fun or rewarding to one shotting a carry with a 1.5k crit. from your jump. At least old Rengo had combos.
You want depth? Try Riot forcing Rengar to be what they call a "diver" and then they completely botch that idea, nerf him into the ground and leave him for dead. It's was effectively Riot's way of saying "fuck you, we hate this champion and we want ADCs to dominate!"
Also, did I mention that Phreak called all Rengar players "...scum of the earth"? Cause he did that live on stream lmao.
To us this is like Riot saying "We're sorry, we know we messed up. Let's make it up to you guys!", which is a step in the right direction since the assassin update was literal garbage for everyone that wasn't Zed.
Maybe this time everyone will let sleeping dogs lie and leave Rengar and assassins alone so we can think about the bigger threats being tanks such as Maokai, Ornn, Sejuani, Zac, Cho'gath and Leona. Oh, and so we can also focus on balancing the Sorcery tree since it's currently defining the meta.
