6-7% playrate is not small. stop saying it is.

Marshbouy··46 votes·2,129 views

On a lot of posts i've seen lately people have been saying "Ivern is fine because his playrate is small. Small playrate usually means a higher winrate"

I do not dispute that, except, 6-7% playrate isn't small. Something like 2%, 1%, and anything less is "small".

EDIT: I didn't know that the boards could get even dumber. Jesus christ. An average to slightly below average playrate DOES NOT JUSTIFY A 57% WINRATE.

pick rate of junglers:

LeeSin 47.49% win rate 50.86% Elise 22.65% win rate 51.4% Graves 19.39% win rate 48.31% Khazix 13.84% win rate 50.63% MasterYi 9.59% win rate 50.17% Evelynn 9.18% win rate 50.97% Rengar 6.04% win rate 45.4% Nidalee 5.78% win rate 47.55% Gragas 4.82% win rate 48.79% Ivern 4.75% win rate 57.56% Amumu 4.51% win rate 48.66% JarvanIV 3.65% win rate 50.39% Zac 3.54% win rate 49.41%

and then there is junglers #14-#23 with pick rates of 3.47% down to 2.1%

so considering 23 junglers have pick rates of 2% or higher , ivern's 4.75% pick rate isnt abnormally high

#but it's not small. FFS

oSEXYPLATYPUSo17 votes

its not big...

considering that eve and up is double or tripple or in the case of lee with a 47.49% pick rate is 11 times higher then Iverns your complaint here is null and void

Marshbouy3 votes

Ivern's winrate is 57%. That is extremely high. this would be somewhat passable if his playrate was incredibly small, but it's not. It's around average.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo3 votes

ok so ? how many games have you faced him in your last 20?

Marshbouy3 votes

that's meaningless.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo5 votes

its not... you saw him 1 time in your last 20 which is 5% which is inline with his pick rate

and if you arent seeing him then why does his win rate effect anything in your games or what you do ?

you are the one using fact pick rates for your OP, you are the one who cant see 4.75% is below average pick rate. you are the one who never sees him in games but you are the one who wants to cry about him? and now you result to insults because your argument has been proven null and void. yet im a dumb troll? how bout you actually post something that has meaning with out making up #s or using your personal bias towards something?

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

i see one game in your last 20 on SR where there was ivern picked and it was on your team

so 1 in 20 is 5% which is inline with his pick rate of 4.75%

nice table1 votes

not that many with his 36% win ratio that demonstrates how much of a non issue he is by reaching sucha high win ratio with low play rate.

Not being big is very different from being small. You wouldn't say the 6th tallest building in the world is small just because the three tallest building dwarf it.

doiminat0r36005 votes

He didn't say very big though. He just said big. As in, it's not large. Arguably, I'd agree. Some others, like OP, would not agree.

Look at it this way: Out of every 100 games, you will see 48 lee sins 23 elises 19 graves 20 kha zix's 10 yis . . . . and only 5 iverns.

Not very many.

DrCyanide6 votes

The OP's entire point was that Ivern doesn't have a small enough pick rate to rule his success as the effort of a few dedicated mains.

It's not like we're talking about Aurelion Sol Jungle with 0.5% pick rate and a 55% win rate, we're talking about a champion with a healthy pick rate having an abnormally high win rate.

Skins Project1 votes

Not to mention that 5 Iverns in 100 games means 5 Iverns in 10000 players!

You mean 1000 players

The thing is you are comparing him with junglers and not everyone else. With everyone else factored in 4.75% isn't small, definitely not small enough to justify a 57% WR.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

actually 4.75% pick rate is small considering average pick rate for a champ would be 7.35 %

so he is nearly 3% lower then average

wanna go for other roles too ? we can do that

kasfas1 votes

Remember, not every champion can be viably played in every role. You can't just take the total number of champions in the game and find the frequency of their occurrence in game, because adcs are picked a lot and there aren't too many adcs in the game to pick from. Essentially, some champions SHOULD be seen more often than others depending on where and how they can be played.

Some champions break this, like lee, but that is a separate issue.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

ok but he has a 4.75% pick rate as a jungler

in the role in which he is attended for... and over all in all roles he is 84th out of 136 champs with a 4.86% pick rate

which is below average when the average pick rate if all were picked at the same rate would be 7.35%

so the 68th picked champ ( which would be the half way point) bard has a 5.97 % pick rate which is still higher then ivern

kasfas1 votes

Alright, but people often seem to use improper values for their calculations is all. I see it very often.

That by itself may not be justification for nerfs, but his absurdly high win rate is. Much like Aurelion sol a while back.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

he is 84th over all with a pick rate of 4.86% that means 83 champs are picked more often then he is.

with having 136 champs he is below average for pick rate

Synnx71 votes

Meanwhile fucking riots favoritism. Lets nerf ivern Who the fuck is Ivern to contest the mighty broken overpowered as fuck LC$ Fla$hy Play$ .................Lee Win !!!!

Sukishoo5 votes

Considering Lee Sin's play rate is 41.65, I'd say a 6.7% is SMALL for Ivern.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

its slightly below average considering average play rate if it was equal among all champs would be 7.35%

DrCyanide4 votes

In a perfect world where each champion is picked the same amount, you'd have 10 champions per game / 136 champions for a play rate of 7.35%.

The reality is that with Meta picks and some champions just being more/less popular, most champions have a pick rate less than that, but ~7% is normal.

CØulrophobia3 votes

1000/136=7.3529 Anything higher is high playrate and anything lower low playrate. The end.

LankPants1 votes

The words you're looking for are above average and bellow average. Something that's above average doesn't have to be high, it can be about average but marginally above. In Ivern's case he's bellow average pickrate but only marginally so.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

he has a 4.75% pick rate which is 10th among junglers

Lugg1 votes

If all champs were played the same amount, the play rate would be about .7%. So if a champ is played 2% or more, they have a high play rate.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

lol no not true... if there are 136 champs and 1000 games played then each champ is played 7.35 times which comes out to 7% just as irelia bot stated and Dr cyanide... so how do you come up with .7% ? less then 1%?

Lugg1 votes

You failed math didn't you?

You can't have a higher number than 1 if you have more than 100 champs.

.7% is the correct number. Go find a math wiz and confirm.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

that is if you have 100 game played

WTBeGirl100EUhr4 votes

The correct number is 7.35%.

If there are 136 champions and 10 of them are picked, then each champion will be in 7% of games. The total of play rates should be 1000%, since there are 10 champions per game - not 1 - and it is the % of games that they are picked in.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo2 votes

apparently not cuz every one else is saying you are wrong

maybe you failed math? are you one of the victims of President Bush's no child left behind act?

Lugg1 votes

If you have a 100 champs and they all played the same amount of games, it would come out to 1%. So if you have more than 100 champs, the percentage HAS to go down. It's not rocket science.

oSEXYPLATYPUSo1 votes

but u dont have just 100 games

lets say you have 1000 games and 136 champs how many time can each champ be picked ?

1000/136=7.35

Lugg1 votes

Ok, I see what you are saying now since there is 10 champs per game.

10 champions per game...

not 1......

Sooooo multiply that by 10.....

Lugg1 votes

But in 100 games, I was 100% correct.

Skins Project1 votes

What?

In 100 games 1000 champions will be played...

Assuming each champion is chosen the same amount it will still be about 7% not .7%

Except you have 10 unique champs per game.

The current "average" playrate, assuming each champ is played equally (hah) is

10 champs per game / 136 champs available = ~7.34%

So the technical "average" playrate for a given champ should be about 7%. In reality, some champs are much more popular (Lee sin) and some are much less popular (rip Urgot)

WTBeGirl100EUhr3 votes

This is true if only 1 champion is picked per game. 10 champions means the pickrate is 10x higher, and thus we get 7.35%.
