Champions that scale with AD and AP are good.

Believe me, the champions themselves might be problematic little bastards, but the notion that an AP item will never be useless on an AD champion, or vise versa, is always a good thing.

You might have champions that can thrive on full-AP or full-AD builds Ezreal Jax, but there are some champions that at least make either stat not completely useless, like Caitlyn's Net Gun, or Kha'Zix's healing.

Funny story about Kha. A long time ago, when Riot first gave his W some AD scaling, they said something along the lines of, "When Kha gets a baron buff, he just has all that AP just lying around! It ain't doing anything, so we're changing that." That was really smart, and I appreciated that! I just think every champion should have that benefit of scaling off of AP, even for just small things. Not too small, though.

I wish we could go back to the older days of league where most champions can have multiple dominant playstyle or dominant build styles and all but thats not really possible anymore because of a few reasons. Firstly because of riot's push towards making every champion having one singular, but very unique, playstyle. Secondly because it is much harder to properly balance.

For the first point, its usually harder to give a champion multiple different ways to be played because it would require much more balancing and tuning to get them to fair well enough with the different archetypes that the champions are built around. This worked in the older times of league because league of legends was still steming away from Defence of the Ancients where this was something that worked well in that game because the way it was originally set up. This plus the fact that the itemization back then was able to let this happen without champions becoming too big of a run off problem unlike today.

For the second point, balance becomes a much harder thing to do when there are multiple unique playstyles for a single champion, as hitting one playstyle that is out of line will usually inadvertently hit the other playstyle and overall make the champion just garbage. one example of this was with Lucian being played mid as an AD caster as well as an ADC in botlane, it was more niche to play him mid but when he was he was way too strong and hard to deal with so riot was forced to nerf him, meanwhile botlane lucian was doing alright, struggling a little bit but overall in a good healthy position. Nerfs to make him more in line with his niche mid AD caster style pretty much gutted him from the botlane. Now obviously this isnt the full story with lucian with preseason and all but it is kind of what started him down this trend.

anyhow im writing this late at night and i know that there are alot of points i had missed so feel free to ask me up for anything that isnt clear or something i forgot to meantion :)

Champions that scale with AD and AP are versatile. Champions that scale off of either AD or AP but still deal physical and magic damage are a problem. Jax is both, so it's kind of a balance nightmare. Ezreal isn't as bad.

Yeah, I like champions that get/have to choose between dealing physical damage, magic damage, or a bit of each, based on the build. It's certainly much more balanced than dealing either while going full tank.

I know I'm late to the party...But I loved old eve. She was so much fun to play, I spammed her for a solid 2-300 games and bought a bunch of skins. Then she was changed to an AP only champ and I have played maybe 30 games of her. She isn't the same champion at all :'(.

What happen if you change it?

(Balance)

Obiously with the actual balance is not posible play ad zil or ad annie, but all people chose their dreams but not always work on them.

Actually on this game there is good builds and bad builds, this, that "bad builds" are the problem must balance them...

off-build scalings are sometimes a good thing, but there are clear times when its not valuable, such as with Old Eve, who's AD and on-hit scalings gave her access to an array of weird builds that didn't fit her theme at all

Old Eve was amazing! You could go Crit, AP, Lethality, On-Hit, or just straight-up Tank, and she'd still be useful in her own respective way! The new Eve just forces you to do one thing and one thing only - AP. Boooooo.

But that's not amazing. Its amazing for the Eve player, sure, but all it does for the game is make her hard to balance and muddy her primary gameplay fantasy.

Its amazing for the Eve player, sure,

I remember the good ol' days when games were made to be amazing for the player. Rip.

boy there are nine other players in this game, if you think every champion should be a Zoe-level "fuck you" to the rest of the characters in the game then you should probably find some kind of singleplayer game to play.

Choose between both, but never have mixed dmg.
