Game Hypothesis: Certain Champions Gain Higher Win Rates
As their counters' play rates drop significantly.
Correct me if I am wrong.
As their counters' play rates drop significantly.
Correct me if I am wrong.
This is correct.
This is also why balance is a lot harder than the armchair devs here think it is. Buffing and nerfing things changes the balance of the whole game.
Champions also become better/worse if their counters are nerfed/buffed - most commonly seen with ADCs.
Let the meta police itself. Who are we to say what is or is not OP.
IMO any champ that has less than 50% win rate should get buffed and any champ that has under 50% win rate should be nerfed.
If something changes in itemization, meta changes etc... and something gets over 50% then nerf it again. Use Platinum 3 and higher across all servers so the sample size is large enough.
They have made win rate adjustments enough to know that 5ms is usually between 1.5 and 2.5% win rate change or -15% ult CD can change a champion's win rate 1-2%. Just make small changes like this until each champion has a 50% win rate.
no, this is correct.
Pretty much.
Hypercarries like Kog'maw, vayne and trist became super dominant and popular when everyone started playing lulu and janna support.
Previously, when everyone was playing brand/zyra/malzahar support, picking a latescaling hypercarry like kog was suicide.
Win rate never mattered. It’s the experience the player in the champ that impacts the champions power to oppress. The meta is carved all in winrates, the only reason people win with meta is b/c people littlery make a mindset it’s meta it’s strong. When it’s All OPINION.
You aren't correct by default, which is what you're assuming for some reason.
Can you back yourself up with evidence, such as examples, and explain how that correlates?
He put forward a hypothesis. I hope I don’t have to copypasta the dictionary definition of “hypothesis.”
It's not a hypothesis when you say, "Correct me if I am wrong."
That means he's making a claim.
No, he's asking people to tell him whether his hypothesis is correct.
Hypothesis and claim is exactly the same thing. Hypothesis is just something that you typically plan to test in order to prove whether it is true or not.
No. A hypothesis is something not yet proven. A claim is saying it is proven.
"Correct me [if this hypothesis] is wrong"
C'mon dude, not too hard to figure this one out.
The statement, "Correct me if I am wrong" implies you are correct in the first place.
That is why it isn't a hypothesis.
Even then that statement doesn't even imply that. That's just your own interpretation of those words as making a claim.
What it is literally saying is "Correct me if I am wrong", just read and interpret the literal meaning of each of those words for a second. It's not a statement assuming they are correct, it's a statement assuming they are possibly wrong.
The way in which it is spoken can change the meaning of it, as with any other word or phrase, but the default meaning is the above one.
https://www.macmillandictionary.com/us/dictionary/american/correct-me-if-i-m-wrong
used when you are fairly sure that you are right, especially as a way of politely disagreeing with someone
I know where you're coming from, as the phrase when spoken usually implies what you are saying. But in text form, all forms of it are possible interpretations and therefore you have to discern which one a person is using. Sarcasm and other tone changes that heavily affect the meaning of a word or phrase are absent in text form, so instead of assuming a certain tone when reading something, try to go with a default tone and usually you won't get stuff like this wrong.
Him saying it was a hypothesis was already a hint to which form of the phrase he was using.
The statement, "Correct me if I am wrong" implies you are correct in the first place.
That is why it isn't a hypothesis.
lol no it doesn't. It implies that you think what you're saying could be true, but you aren't sure. A hypothesis is the exact same thing, but in the scientific world you put forth your hypothesis and your results from testing it at the same time.
It seems a dictionary definition apparently is in order:
"Hypothesis: an idea or explanation for something that is based on known facts but has not yet been proved"
It is possible to disprove a hypothesis using new evidence, and attempting to do so is in fact the most basic component of testing any hypothesis. Therefore, "correct me if I'm wrong" is not only appropriate for a hypothesis, it is exactly what you should be doing when presented with one. Where exactly did OP assume they were correct by default? I can agree that the use of evidence would have made this thread much more enriching, but that's not the argument you picked, as you decided to argue with the OP on semantics. On that note, if the OP had substantiated their claim with evidence, it would have already moved beyond the status of hypothesis, as it would have already undergone some amount of testing. You chose exactly the wrong way to start an argument on this thread.
If Riot nerfs most of the champions that counter a certain champion, then that champion will have a better chance of winning there lane, thus a better chance of winning the game.
I'd agree with this, though I'd also question its impact in a game like League. Not only does League have a very large roster of champions, the game itself runs on a design philosophy that aims not to make any champion counter another too hard (or at least claims not to). Therefore, the only cases where a champion's fluctuation in play rate and power would be enough to majorly affect that of another, would be in an environment where the latter champion would have a disproportionately high frequency of play. This is quite possibly an issue in competitive play, where only a fraction of the total roster is typically used, and where some picks are far more popular than others, but I feel it is unlikely to be anywhere near as much of a feature in standard play, bar perhaps some exceptions, namely in bot lane.
You are wrong but not because you are wrong. But because you are on the internet.
the reverse is also true
for example as a
player i can assume u she was MUCH stronger in season 6 and 7 than she is now.
however, right now she counters most of the meta picks, therefore she happens to be VERY good atm
