Why is Ezreal such a popular pick for marksman?

Like legit why do people keep picking him? They NEVER do any type of damage until full build and even then they get out traded easily. I legit don't understand why he's been so popular for so long.

The only adc I can think of that does less than him is Sivir and even then a good sivir will still steam roll. Hell, even Kalista does more damage than him and she's easily the least played marksman in the game. What is the appeal to playing this guy? Strongly considering making him a permaban just to keep people on my team from picking him. He's always a dead champ in the game

He is a safe pick. It's the same reason people always pick Orianna mid.

If Ezreal is played properly he is actually the highest damage ADC in the game at mid-late game. He has a safe laning phase, and can play really well off ganks, while being hard to gank.

He's simply and safe. That's why he's popular.

As to why the Ezreals on your team do no damage, it probably has to do with one of two phenomena among bad Ezreal players:

The "Double Kill Bot Then Back For Tear" Strat, where Ezreal doesn't press his early advantage by buying damage
The "Ezreal's Damage Comes From Q" Syndrome, in which Ezreal refuses to autoattack.

Safety. He's very, very safe. When your playing solo and you don't trust your support to save you or back you up, Ezreal is very, very slippery.

Ezreal does not have the direct damage that someone like Jhin or Draven brings to the table, but he's very hard to pin down and can be terrifying in the right hands, like all champions. Believe me, he's popular and good for a reason.

You say he does no damage but among all adcs he earns an above-average damage dealt stat, and that's when he usually goes blue build which sacrifices damage potential for kiting utility.

All his poke adds up.

I have no idea. He's currently sitting at a 46% win rate and an almost 29% pick rate in Plat or higher games. I'd imagine it's his kit. He's a pretty safe pick, which might explain his popularity.

-Safest adc in the game. -actually does alot of dmg (especially triforce build) -one of the best kiters in the game (especially IBG build) -pokes for days -Global ult -it's all skill -he's a pretty chill guy but gets cocky too. and imo he's a pretty likable character. -ezreal as it gets -doesn't belong in a museum (unlike kalista)

as for sivir. idk shit she's boring af. her ult is great in organized play tho. oh and waveclear.
