I typically run Braum, Nautilius, or Sejuani (pre-rework). But since no one tanks and I'm no stronger to support I thought I'd ask. I've been playing mage a lot the last 6 months, so I'm not up on the trends.

I remember you telling me to look at your match history in another thread. And I will admit, you know what your doing it seems. (At least at your ELO)
However, that doesn't exactly sell me. As a Support main, I'm not opposed to off meta supports, but I got to have an idea of why and how they work in the duo lane, and what the offer to the team, being down in gold and XP.
Perhaps if you could post some of your highlights, or even a description of what you do with that pick, I might consider it.

basically overwhelm the enemy with my pressure in mid game, ending games around the 18-25 minute mark. if it goes late group and peel for adc
robotmaster1 votesThresh is the first that comes to mind. Karma is also really good right now with the lack of assassins as of late. I have been enjoying lulu recently. So yeah tank supports like tahm and Braum aren't that meta right now.

Thresh isn't really a tank. Most of his items are CDR and utility. Even at a normal full build you are really squishy
Alex h87211 votesI like nautilus support a whole lot, W max then Q, Relic shield/sightstone hybrid item, can build redemption after this for the active (and it beefs up your shield), then you can build tank the rest of the way.
Nautilus support has huge all in strength at level 6 w/ ult especially in the duo lane, and His hooks/ult for engage remain strong and relevant the entire game. Not having to farm a solo lane means you can max W and have a substantial shield w/ rank 5 W by level 9 which is pretty strong going into the midgame, plus even as a vanguard nautilus is still one of the best champs for peeling an enemy Jg/midlane assassin off your adc w/ the passive root on aa's, slowing from E and Q (ult is a bit slow to be peel unless point blank).
